  • If Denver was starting from scratch

Just to throw in a change of pace until we get some more signing news, etc., I'd be interested to know what decision you would make if you were Denver's GM and had 1st pick in the 2008 draft, and (here's the twist) DENVER WAS A BRAND NEW TEAM WITH NO PLAYERS...... in other words, who are you going to build your team around???

Jake Long and it is not even close.

A good offensive line is more important than any other position or unit. An average QB will look good behind a good line, a good QB will look average behind a poor line.

          Jake Long!!!

He would do the exact same thing that Joe Thomas did for CLE.

I dont think McFadden is going to be as good as advertised and I feel the same about Matt Ryan.

Jake Long to me feels like the safest pick in the draft and will have the most impact of all players(maybe Sedrick Ellis). IMHO

I'd love me some Jake Long, you start with a stud left tackle, the other 4 line spots can be filled through other means and will make the most impact through time... that first year will be rough but if whoever your QB is can stand in the pocket at least somewhat you got some hope for the future...

Plus Long is the best prospect at a position to build around (QB, LT, MLB) Or at least thats my opinion.

You gotta build around LT or RT first, plain and simple but mostly LT because that is the hardest position in the NFL to play and be great at.

If you already had an O-Line then the position you go after next is DE.
A Running back comes in the system much much later and really could be the last person you add to a new team other then kicker or punter.
No disrespect to any kickers or punters out there.
But building a team is really easy its the players you gotta build the team with is what makes it hard.

i said G. Dorsey but thats only because a good DT will make your entire D better but Jake Long would also be a great pick up since he's basically the DT of the O

KWHIT97, out of ALL people, I'd never thought you would say something like that.
Ok its your opinion but like I said before.
Who is he gonna run behind, wind?
                        Protection, protection, protection.
Every running back needs it and every running back wants it.
If D-Mac ain't got no line or not a good line to run behind, what is gonna happen.....PANCAKES!!!!!!!
I have to say with everything you talk about on here you left me on this one man.

Either Jake Long or Chris Long. It is my belief that the game of football is won up front. In the poll I chose Jake Long because when starting out the o-line is more important than the d-line. However, after thinking about it I like the depth at OT in this year's draft so I would choose Chris Long. I think Chris Long will be a HOFer like his father was.
