Draftniks hyped Vernon Davis as a top-10 pick, but he's still trying to figure out how to get open and catch the football. DeMeco Ryans, who was downgraded to 2nd-round material by the draftniks, quickly became a great middle linebacker in the NFL. Perhaps that had something to do with the fact that Davis didn't do much at Maryland, a mediocre program, whereas Ryans was great on Alabama's top-rated defense.

As for Cherilus vs. Williams, Williams faced, and got beaten by, Jarvis Moss, he of the broken fibula and the inability to stop the running game. Other than Moss and Jamaal Anderson of Arkansas, there haven't been a lot of great DEs or OLBs coming out of the SEC in the last two years.

Cherilus faced Gaines Adams, a respectable NFL starter, and Mario Williams, a respectable NFL starter, not to mention many other NFL-caliber defensive ends and OLBs from traditional defensive powerhouses like Clemson, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina and North Carolina State. Oh, and his team often won, unlike Vanderbilt.

Trevor Laws over Patrick Sims is more classic draftnik delusional thinking. Laws did nothing aside from record some good times at the combine. His team was a loser. 3-8. He was on the field for those losses, so he couldn't have been that great. Sims was a key part of one of the best defenses in college football. That means he played well. That means he is good. On the field. Now, not in some future fantasy world.

As for the rest of your draft, it looks like a lot of draftnik darlings and a couple of good kickers.
Your argument is paper thin. I guess John Elway did nothing at Stanford because those teams he played on were terrible, huh? How did he do in the NFL? How about our own Jay Cutler? He was on a losing team in college, but I guess he sucked, huh?

I guess every player on any lousy team is garbage, right? Nevermind the fact that football is a team sport. If a team is full of crappy players and one or two superstars, of course that team is gonna lose! Doesn't take away from the talent of the one or two quality players.

The fact of the matter is Williams performed better than Cherilus this season by a rather wide margin. You have to be pretty damn good to be a starting LT in the SEC, and to play as well as he did says he's something special.

Ooh, Williams got beat by a couple of 1st round DE's before. Yeah, he's garbage!

They're called "draftniks" because they have extensive knowledge about the draft and prospects, unlike you.

If I was going to go an Oline draft I would do it right:

      1st Clady or Williams
      2nd Cherilus
      5th Legursky

      Oline of the future

      LT Clady, Harris
      LG Harris, Kuper
      C Hamilton, Legursky
      RG Kuper, Holland
      RT Cherilus, Pears

      Talent + Depth = Playoff

      R Ayers - B Cofield - A Haynesworth - CJ ohnson
      J Anderson - J Beason - DJ Williams
      R Bailey - P Amukamara - R Hill - A Goodman

If ya wanna do it right then Get a 3rd round pick and go

3rd C Steve Justice Wake Forest
        4th OL Jeremy Zuttah Rutgers
4th/5th OT Kirk Barton Ohio State

        Now you have

        Nalen's replacement/Depth

        Hamilton replacement OL depth

OT depth and replacement if Pears leaves

Guess what? You still have #12 and #42 to draft needs such as WR and DT. And extra 4th and 4th rounders to fill depth needs.

Look at those 3 multi-OLine-dimensional prospects and tell me they aren't as good as getting one dimensional Clady/Williams/Otah?

Hell even NFL.com says Justice compares to Tom Nalen.....

Then Shanny can make this board happy and waste picks on Mendenhall and Bennett and have OLine stability for years to come after Nalen and Hamilton call it quits.

I'm all for dealing Foxy and a 5th for a third and taking Justice, but no Barton and Zuttah are not even in he same class as Clady and Cherilus (who was a considered a top 20 pick after playing RT and dropped a little after not performing as well at LT).

          4th - traded for D Rob
4th for MLB Goff or Bell
          5th for WR/KR Avery
          6th for DT
          7ths for PK & Punter

          J Anderson - J Beason - DJ Williams
