Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

Texans acquired OL Chris Myers from the Broncos in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2008.
The sign-and-trade took place after Denver signed Myers to a four-year, $11 million deal with $3 million guaranteed. Myers is an athletic linemen with 16 career starts, all coming in 2008. He'll likely start at center for Houston.
I'm confused...why would they sign him then trade him? Does that count against the cap?
Per Wikepedia online: "In transitions, if a player retires, is traded, or is cut before June 1st, all remaining bonus is applied to the salary cap for the current season. If the payroll change occurs after June 1st, the current cap is unchanged, and the next year's cap must absorb the entire remaining bonus."
I think there's more to this deal. The only reason to do a sign in trade is to get more compensation then what was originally going to be the case.
Thus, we were going to get a 6th from Houston anyway for Myers. It's likely we said we'd match whatever contract they offer him unless they sweeten the pot. My guess is that there is another draft selection, or higher selection, being given.

Interesting take.... and I see your point and was kind of curious about the way this went down to begin with...
I wonder if the Apprentice just b1tch slapped the Master......Again......
How? By giving us a 6th and giving the player 11 million? Myers didn't get a bonus that would still count against our cap..... I don't think anyone got b1tch slapped here, and I have yet to see Kubiak do that once, yet say "again"....

IF he did get Shanahan to pay the signing bonus, which would count against the Broncos salary cap in a Sign and Trade, that's what I mean by "b1tch slapped".
And Kubiak is 1 and 0 against Shanahan, that's what I mean by "Again".
But I agree, 11 million for Chris Myers is a joke, getting a 6th round pick for him is not a joke.
It's a good trade, as long as the Sign and Trade didn't include a signing bonus (Roster/option bonuses would count against the Texans cap).
