  • Michael Pittman???

I've had this on my mind for a year or so now. Knowing that Pittman is a FA this year I was hoping to hear some news on him from the Bronco's but haven't heard anything at all. (until this morning, St. Louis is interested in him)

I live in Tampa and get to watch (unfortunatly) the Bucs every sunday. Pittman is a beast and runs like a Mac truck. Their is a couple knocks on him ... 1) he is 32 years old I believe and 2) he looks for contact ... he enjoys putting the smack on someone!

BUT he is very reliable as a reciever oout of the backfield and can put down a nasty pass block in a passing down situation. While he is a little older and been in the league for 10 years he only has a total of 1300 carries over those 10 years.

I don't know why but I think he would do really well in Denver!
    and he is huge!!!

but I just saw this on Rotoworld ...

The Broncos, Lions, and Rams are reportedly the teams "most interested" in free agent Michael Pittman.

Like any back, Pittman would have some sleeper fantasy value in Denver. He'd be a clear cut backup in St. Louis and likely a rotational back in Detroit. Pittman still hasn't set up a visit or talked numbers with any club.

I'm telling you .... Pittman in Orange & Blue would be very sweet!!!!!

      I guess the question is....
Is he better than Travis Henry and/or Selvin Young. Young is of course younger and does well. Pittman is definitely stronger....but I think that we're doing fine with travis as long as he stays healthy...so I'm not sure if Pittman is worth giving up on Travis right now....

5 years ago maybe, but we are trying to get younger and Pittman, while I have much respect for him, does not fit the bill!

IMO he's better than both Henry and Young. Pittman is strong and hit's the hole fast, he's an excellent reciever out of the backfield and can pass block very well. THE ONLY downside I can see ... he's 32, But remember from my first post ... he's only carried the ball 1300 times over 10 years. Some backs have 1300 carries in less than 5 years!!

I'm not saying we should go out and sign him for 75 million with 28 million guaranteed but if he could come at a fairly decent price, I would almost be willing to bet he'd take over the starting job pretty quick!

bring him in. the more competition the better, and I think he'd make a better swing/utility back than sapp. he's also a character guy like Foxworth. No multiple children in multiple time zones.

At the right price, we could use some solid depth behind Henry.

sign him to no more than a 2 year deal worth $3 million total. That is probably the best he can do. Or maybe 2 year deal worth $2 million with another 4 in incentives....

I don't know how long he would be behind Henry though, that's the only reason I don't think he'll be coming here. IMO again he is better than Henry ... just my opinion though!

                      would be cool

I went to high school with Mike, and I would love to root for him on the team I've grown up with. Unfortunately, the Broncos have some major rebuilding to do, and youth is key. I believe the Broncos should focus on the draft and sign as many undrafted rookies as they can. I'm prepared for 1 or 2 .500 or less seasons before this team redefines itself.

I say bring him in and sign him with a one year contract. It would push henry and young.

I would still vote no... Henry is just as good at catching passes and we have already committed the money to him. I see Pittman doing something like that 1 year contract in San Diego... I know all my Charger fan buddies would be stoked (our high school in in San Diego). That being said, perhaps if you wanted to keep him from the Chargers... Again, the Broncos have no chance at the division title this year. Time to build from the ground up. I say no major free agent signings until after the 2009 season.

bring him in and turn him to a fb... if he likes to hit ppl, that´s where he will fit in the broncos system

plus, I bet he is WAY stronger than sapp

meh. I gues I really wouldn't be opposed to him coming in if he is cheap. I don't think he's better than Henry, but IMO he would be a better backup than Selvin Young. But I think we should think young and not judt get guys for 1-2 years.
