i agree that OL would be the most conservative pick in the first round, according to our needs, but when was the last time Shanny was conservative when drafting? (insert all your gloomy references to playcalling here...)
but we're not the only team with line issues. if Clady and Williams are gone, i think a top RB prospect is a likely choice. Henry's restructured contract gives him what is basically backup money, right? and please correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't it also make him cuttable if he doesn't show some good stuff (and a good attitude) in TC? also, there was a rumour that we were offered a 7th round pick for Mike Bell. might that still be on the table? i'm just pointing out that just because we might have 50 RB's currently on the roster, doesn't mean much this early in the year. if Shanahan has confidence in Colbert, then WR isn't a priority, either.
remember, most of last year the offense was struggling with two of its best linemen injured. having them back, plus the experience garnered by the young bucks, just maybe it's not at the top of ol' Shanny's list...

I had a dream that we drafted Mendenhall. Soon enough, I had a dream
that Sedrick Ellis wasn't of the board yet and the Bills were next to draft.Leave a comment:

Ask the Chiefs how good it does to have a great RB without an OL.Leave a comment:

So what's with the fascination of keeping a guy who'll do well only for 1 more year. Why not have a guy who can do it for 10 more years. Get him started early and let Henry earn his starting role back. Let him show us, how dedicated he is to become a great RB. We gave Henry the chance last year, but he couldn't keep healthy or stay out of trouble. I don't care if he has 1500 rush yds, 10 td. He's not going to reproduce that the following year because of 2 factors. 1, he's Travis Henry and 2, he's getting older every year and already has lost a step or two.Leave a comment:

Regardless of whether we sign a FA DT or not, we still need to draft one with one of our first two picks. The signing of someone like Robertson will only serve as a stopgap until the draft pick and Thomas mature into their role.Leave a comment:

Because with the signing of a DT we no longer have to sign one with our first two picks so we can still get two OT one in the second round and one in the fourth leaving pick number 12 open for best player available is it's Williams or Clady or Mendenhall.Leave a comment:

Here is the problem I have with grabbing a "playmaker" at #12:
JC
Walker (not a factor last year, but was in 2006)
Marshall
Henry
Young
Scheff
Graham
Stokley
There were plenty of plays being made all over the place the past two years and yet we lose more than we win. How about trying and get guys that do the grunt work and can control the game?
We spent a ton of resources on DE the last two years, but Moss, Crowder, and Elvis will never shine unless we get the guys inside to make the other team account for them.
Same goes on offense. Everyone said WOW look at Adrian Peterson dominate last year. Well he did have two pro bowl Oline guys blocking for him (Huchinson did the same for Shaun Alexander) and a LT that is amoung the best in the NFL. Chester Taylor also posted a 5.4 YPC, 844 yds and 7 TDs.
I just believe that if we land 4 guys (two OL & two DTs) then everyone that we already have will look and play better and it will = wins. However, the guys we draft this month are more for next year, counting on rookies is just not the way to go, but I'm tired of the quick fix that does nothing but eat of our salary cap.Leave a comment:

um actually he eluded to selvin not being a full time guy saying he only saw selvin as a 10-15 carry kind of guy....a tatum bell to be exact, but he didnt say anything about henry other than there were some things to talk about and that this season didnt go as planned. he never actually implied anything about henry not being a starter. the fact they let henry restructure shows me there was mutual agreement on both sides to give this another shot. i would be willing to bet that regardless of who we draft at rb or if Henry is an will be our #1 back going into camp. that could change based on performances in camp and what not, but as of now you can bet you but henry is number 1 and that is the mind set of the front office. they are giving him another shot, and his renewed motivation gives me faith he wasnt to happy with ho last year went and wants to make amends. for once give him the benefit of the doubt.
and with regards to stats and what not. Its hard to be dominant in a piss poor offense and with a weak offesnive line. he had that after his pro bowl season in buffalo when they lost some key FA. and they continued to suck and have a weak offense. he then got traded to tennesse and they drafted a guy named vince young who like to run the ball just as much as henry. however 7tds by henry in an offense that wasnt very high scoring actually isnt bad, especially when you look at how many plays henry actually got in relation to vince young. had they drafted a pass happy qb, perhaps henry would have had more carries and more TD's.Leave a comment:

Go re-watch Shanahan's end of season Presser. He stated that Young was not the Answer and Alluded to Henry not being an answer either.
Actually, Henry is a backup RB and has never been a big threat in the NFL. His stats and play do not lie. Guy has only had 2 season where he went over 10TD's and has only played 1 full season healthy. I guess if you cant see we need an RB then that makes you and half of this bored extremely vision impared.

If Shanny doesn't think Henry and Young are enough? OR you don't think Henry and Young are enough?
I could buy into the 1st round RB pick if we had gotten rid of Henry but we didn't. He agreed to restructure his contract for cheap to prove to the Broncos they made a good decision. If there's any season to expect big things from Henry, this is the one. On top of that we still have Young, Hall, Bell and Sapp (yes I know Bell and Sapp are listed as fb's but they are really rb's).
Runningback is a position that has decent starters and depth. This is NOT the year to trade a high 1st round LT for a RB.
