  • 'Marshall Law' To Dictate Draft

A couple of things became apparent this week, that will effect the future of the Denver Broncos both in the short and long-term...

No.1: This WILL be Brandon Marshall's last year in Denver, make no mistake about it. I posted this here in another thread several months ago, only to have it laughed off by members such as Ravage and Cugel as being a 'chicken little' reaction to the repeated problems Brandon Marshall has had over the last several years. It is amazing how we can twist, favorably manipulate and forgive the troubled facts of a player when he is really, really talented. Brandon Marshall is and has always been an incredible knucklehead, with incredibly bad judgement. My guess is there is no way in Hades the Broncos are going to be willing to give him a big payday after his rookie contract expires after next season. Adios Brandon, maybe John Gruden can keep you in line in Tampa.

No. 2: With that in mind, and with the incredible lack of talent at WR on the current Broncos roster, the Broncos, once again find themselves in remarkably similar circumstances that lead them to draft WR Ashley Lelie out of need, when the uber-talented Ed Reed was there for the taking...it is interesting to note how the mistakes of the past tend to repeat themselves when you can't run a Draft to save your life...so let the debate begin, because Malcom Kelly, Limas Sweed or Devin Thomas will be the Broncos No. 1 Draft pick in 2008, count on it.

No. 3...this is further guaranteed by the now inevitable trade for NY Jet DT DeWayne Robertson, who has an agreement on a new contract with Denver, and now it is just a matter of finding the right combination of draft picks to send to the Jets (say goodbye to one of the 4ths) for the deal to be completed...so, the Broncos biggest need on the team will now be addressed by one DeWayne Robertson??!...I don't know about you, but I am excited...not.

BTW, wasn't Gerard Warren traded to us for a 4th?

So, who will it be, Broncos Fan, Sweed, Kelly or Thomas...for my money, give me Devin Thomas.

Honestly, what has Marshall done that has been so bad?

    A DUI?

He is wrestling around with his brother, and that makes him a "character problem"?

Its not like he is Pacman... or anything close to it...

But please, let him go. I pray he comes to Miami. I never thought we would have a chance, but apparently we will according to you...

I still laugh at the idea tha Marshall will be gone after this season. Unless he has a career ending injury. With the Broncos inability to draft a high round WR,and FINALLY get a quality, talented WR in the draft.. there is NO WAY we let him go. Not when we have such a talented young QB to get him the ball, and possibly groom up a great combo for years to come.

        DUI
Dumping champagne on the guys that eventually shot D Will
Lying about how he hurt his arm
The Actually injury to the arm...

Marshall has had anger management-related issues and incidents. On March 26, 2007, he was arrested in the Highlands Ranch suburb of Denver on suspicion of domestic violence after his girlfriend reported that following a domestic dispute, Marshall prevented a taxi she was in from leaving his house.[18] Charges from the incident were later dismissed on May 25, 2007 after Marshall completed anger management counseling.[19]

Marshall also experienced legal run-ins while a student at UCF. According to Orlando-Orange County public records (case 48-2004-MM-012392-O), on Halloween 2004, Marshall was arrested in Orlando on charges of assault on a law enforcement officer, refusal to obey, disorderly conduct, and resisting an officer.[20]

LMAO @ trading Marshall. If Marshall is still acting a fool when hes 25-26 then ill say we need to trade him or what not, Hes only had a DUI and an accident even tho it was a dumb accident that coulda been avoided. Hes just a big kid and needs to grow up. Im sure when we do resign Marshall his contract will have alot of things in it to restrict him from doing things/protect our cap. Im not worried about marshall untill the next case with the law.

Ravage...he would have been charged with some sort of physical abuse with his girlfriend last summer had he not been a Bronco...and go back further...why didn't he get into Florida or Florida St??....trouble follows this guy because his judgement is horrendous....the very fact that Cutler has had to speak out against him tells you all you need to know.

So, the question I have for you is...if all of this is 'no big deal', then why where Jay Cutler's comments made at all? Why did Cutler find it necessary to make any comment about Brandon Marshall at all??

Marshall's contract will be up after next season, and if the past is any indication, he will be due a huge payday...do you really think the Broncos are going to fork out taht kind of dough for another troubled player?

I guess with Shanahan, anything is possible...but then why was Javon Walker dumped?

The first round selection of another WR will provide the Broncos with Marshall's replacement, because he is as good as gone, trust me.

It's not that people wanna rip you just for your prediction, MindField......

......it's that your prediction is so damn early (I think you're probably just trying to be the first in line to be right, again).

I tell ya'll something, given the Broncos inability to judge/draft/develop WR's, Marshall had better done something more than get a DUI and argue with a coach for Shanahan to get rid of him.

And I thought I was negative......

The Broncos don't have that luxury...they will have to pay him after next season, or trade him.

Look, I loved Brandon Marshall coming out of college, and I thought he would be a steal in the 4th....and I hoped he would get his act together in the NFL...just as I was hopeful about Javon Walker...but at some point, you have to see what reality is, and not let your need for a playmaker at WR cloud your judgement.

His history suggests bigger problems are on the horizon for Brandon Marshall...then again, I heard Viking and 49er fans make excuses for Randy Moss and TO for years as well...some guys are just trouble, period.

The only incident that I would be concerned about is assult on a law enforcement officer. And I dont even know how much faith to put into that claim as I have had first hand experience with the OPD. They charged my good friend with assult on an officer after they grabbed him, threw him into a wall, and then knocked him out. He literally did nothing. A fight broke out next to him, and the cops grabbed him...

Lying about how he fell??? Woah... what a scumbag.

You could be right, although if a DUI and a temper tantrum are all the indication you need, you're not leaving yourself many options......

Why was Javon let go??? Javon was let go because of his injury. He wasn't let go because of anything else. If he stayed healthy as he did the first season with us, he would still be a Bronco... THAT I promise you.

Marshall is a MONSTER stud WR. One that we drafted, and one that is 'growing up' (meaning in the NFL) with Jay Cutler. Those two have the chance to develope a connection like a lot of the great duo's in the NFL have. He's the Rice to Young, and the Irvin to Aikman. Marshall is the Harrison to Manning. We won't let that go. We WILL spend the money to keep him, just as we spent the big money on TD when he was here.

But we won't use our first pick in the draft on a WR. What are YOU Going to say when we don't use our 12th spot on a WR??? Are you going to come back and change your mind?

As far as 'trusting you"..... nooooo friggin way.

Do you honestly believe that he was COMPLETELY sober and was just wrestling with a faimly member and somehow fell with enough force to go THROUGH a TV?

You wouldnt be worried about him starting what go D Will killed? You wouldnt be worried about him drinking and driving? Anger Management classes?

B-Marsh is talented, but as Tony K. would say... A THUG.

Can you stop with the whole D-Will thing? Obviously BMarsh got into a situation he probably shouldn't have, but what he did in no way puts him in the position of "getting Dwill killed"

Nothing justifies shooting another person. BMarsh is making/has made his fair share of mistakes, and if he doesn't stop he shouldn't be on this team. But I don't think at this point he should be called a "THUG" or responsible for dwills murder.
