Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.
--Broncos Country Message Board Staff
A couple of things became apparent this week, that will effect the future of the Denver Broncos both in the short and long-term...
No.1: This WILL be Brandon Marshall's last year in Denver, make no mistake about it. I posted this here in another thread several months ago, only to have it laughed off by members such as Ravage and Cugel as being a 'chicken little' reaction to the repeated problems Brandon Marshall has had over the last several years. It is amazing how we can twist, favorably manipulate and forgive the troubled facts of a player when he is really, really talented. Brandon Marshall is and has always been an incredible knucklehead, with incredibly bad judgement. My guess is there is no way in Hades the Broncos are going to be willing to give him a big payday after his rookie contract expires after next season. Adios Brandon, maybe John Gruden can keep you in line in Tampa.
No. 2: With that in mind, and with the incredible lack of talent at WR on the current Broncos roster, the Broncos, once again find themselves in remarkably similar circumstances that lead them to draft WR Ashley Lelie out of need, when the uber-talented Ed Reed was there for the taking...it is interesting to note how the mistakes of the past tend to repeat themselves when you can't run a Draft to save your life...so let the debate begin, because Malcom Kelly, Limas Sweed or Devin Thomas will be the Broncos No. 1 Draft pick in 2008, count on it.
No. 3...this is further guaranteed by the now inevitable trade for NY Jet DT DeWayne Robertson, who has an agreement on a new contract with Denver, and now it is just a matter of finding the right combination of draft picks to send to the Jets (say goodbye to one of the 4ths) for the deal to be completed...so, the Broncos biggest need on the team will now be addressed by one DeWayne Robertson??!...I don't know about you, but I am excited...not.
BTW, wasn't Gerard Warren traded to us for a 4th?
So, who will it be, Broncos Fan, Sweed, Kelly or Thomas...for my money, give me Devin Thomas.
Wow, I didn't realize we had Miss Cleo on these boards. While I will not be surprised at all if we do take a WR at 12 this doesn't mean Marshall will be gone after this season. Yes, he has alot to prove yet and must prove he can keep his nose clean off the field, but hopefully this is the final learning expierience and he will be straight edged from here on out.
Remember the most dominate reciever in the game Randy Moss had plenty of run-ins when he was younger but look at him now.
Marshall must straighten up, if he doesn't then he could be gone, but I think he will cool down and be a Bronco for a long time!!
See first your getting me all wrong. There is nothing that I have read that said Marshall was spraying champange in the air. Form what I interped from reading was Marshall sprayed the gentelman personally with champange which now makes it personal.
So you don't understand what went on and that makes you assume that Marshall provoked these guys and everything is his fault? How exactly did you come to that conclusion? Can you show me a single article or video that has someone saying that Marshall sprayed them on purpose? Can you then explain why Marshall would just randomely walk up to some people at a party and spray one down with champagne for no reason at all? By your logic, if they said something to him, he was justified in spraying them and AGAIN it is not his fault. So, you are just making your argument look pretty dumb.
How does any of this make any sense to you? I still don't get what is going through your heads when you guys make these claims. You are all just a bunch of haters is what it looks like to me. No respect for anyone.
I can guarantee Marshall would get an assualt charge if any of you ever said these things to his face. I would fully support him after he got that charge as well, at least after the details of why it happened came out.
True but in one of these articles recently I did see Shannahan say talks about Robertson were all but dead and that Robertson failed one of our physicals, not just the Bengals. This came out since that report a few days ago that said Robertson would come and the only stopping him was his contract.
Shanny seemed more worried about the knee.
I haven't seen any articles on this since the one that came out 2 weeks ago..
"Even after their point man in the proposed trade for Dewayne Robertson was dismissed, the Broncos remain interested in acquiring the defensive tackle.
Broncos' general manager Ted Sundquist had been working with the New York Jets on the proposed deal until he was fired Wednesday by executive vice president Mike Shanahan. The team's interest in Robertson, however, remains.
The Broncos have been working with agent Hadley Engelhard on reconstructing Robertson's enormous contract and with the Jets on draft-pick compensation. The teams have discussed swapping midround draft picks in 2008 along with the Jets receiving a conditional draft pick for 2009.
So until something else comes out, I'm going to believe this is the latest. Either way, he's not a Bengal.
Also, I must say, the "he was drunk when he went through a TV" thing is pretty lame as well. I will assume something here and say that they didn't own their own jet skees where they where. I am pretty sure it was still morning as well. If I am remembering this at all correctly, they where going to go rent jet skees when this happened. They can't do that if they are drunk as you can't be driving anything on the water if you have been drinking. How are they going to rent some jet skees at this point if they are all drunk?
You have to be drunk now to wrestle with your family members? Since when did wrestling with your family make you a horrible person? How does that show lack of morals? I would say it may show some lack of common sense, but I do not see how you guys are trying to attack his character for this.
See first your getting me all wrong. There is nothing that I have read that said Marshall was spraying champange in the air. Form what I interped from reading was Marshall sprayed the gentelman personally with champange which now makes it personal. If the later happened yes he is responsible.
This is where your youth and ignorance is showing. I don't care if Marshall PUNCHED this guy, he is STILL not 'responsible' for D-will getting SHOT. Thats absurd. Its this kind of mentality, that BLAMES others for 'dissing' and thus DESERVES a retaliation, that is LITERALLY the cause for many of these shootings. Punks think that you have to have 'retribution' and can't let someone insult you without you BLASTING away (punches or with guns). This is the problem. Not Marshall.
Again I dont condone gangs or the shooting but if the gentelmen got sprayed delibertly by Marshall his action can not go unnoticed. Also his run in with the law. Now what about his other incidents. People would see it differently if their kids got hit by someone driving drunk.
Again. I never read it was deliberate. Either way. Dude.... you can not BLAME someone for a death simply because some idiot decides shooting a gun is the appropriate action to retaliate with when getting a little wet. Marshall isn't the thug here... its those like you that have the 'thug' attitude.
I will add that it is no wonder I can't take football opinions seriously on this board. The lack of common sense shown here is rediculous. It explains why I have been here less and less with each passing week.

I think you are pretty naive if you don't think people can rent jet ski's when drunk. Although its purely speculation that he was drinking anyway...that wouldn't keep a NUMBER of the other family members able to rent the ski. You would have to be falling down drunk for a rental shop not to rent to you. Don't fool yourself in believing otherwise.

This is exactly right. What it comes down to...this was an ACCIDENT. IT was an ACCIDENT... it was an ACCIDENT!! For crying out loud, people here act as though they never get into accidents, and then try and believe that these athletes shouldn't have a life outside of being encased in a bubble.
It was an unfortunate accident... thats it. This shows no negligence, nor does it show some kind of "bad decisions" on his part.
The guy that decided to punch holes in his wall by using a .22 caliber pistol for his satelite dish, killing his wife..... THAT is a poor decision. Slipping while wresting around with family... is just an unfortunate accident. Thats life. We all live with it.

Rav I just had to quote this part its true, Just because he's a Pro Football player people on these boards want all the team to be bubble wrapped and sealed until they can be unwrapped and taken out for the start of the season.
Honestly the only thing that should be kept safe are Figurines that people spend 50-60 dollars on. Those things you put in a case and keep on the top shelf.
Players are human too, and the only question I have is, "why doesnt the guy have a old TV still isnt he rich enough to own a Plasma 1070DPI TV that he can hang up"
People gotta give it a rest, accidents do happen, next thing you know people will be going "jay cutler is going to be gone in 2010" just for him hitting his thumb with a hammer and, that he had to have 2 stitches on his thumb.
or another fan Favorite player that has a House Mishap. just god forbid its the one that involves ladders and stairs.
McDaniles Career as a failure of a Head Coach is being fulfilled. Termination of McFailure has happen.
Rejoice Bronco Fans we have taken our team back, but at a heavy cost.
