  • Broncos Drafting Tendencies OL.

Here is a look at how the Broncos have drafted offensive line over the years.
    (Leaving Some Players Out)

I think it shows that the Broncos have been able to find good value in later rounds.

    At drafting Offensive Line.

    2007
    3rd round OT-Ryan Harris
    2006
    6th round OG-Chris Kuper
    6th round C-Greg Eslinger
    2005
    6th round OG-Chris Myers
    2003
    1st round OT-George Foster
    2001
    4th round OG-Ben Hamilton
    2000
    4th round OG-Cooper Carlisle
    1997
    3rd round OG-Dan Neil
    1994
    7th round OC Tom Nalen

Although we have not seen it yet all indications point to Harris being a draft day steal and starting OT in the NFL drafted 3rd round.

Chris Kuper has turned out to be a great pick and atleast giving you soild depth.

I liked Greg Eslinger I think the Broncos fumbled that one

George Foster didnt seem so good but we did have some good winning seasons with him at OT

We also was able to salvage something for him either way I think he was a bust for us but not a bust of a player.

If Ben Hamilton can stay healthy he still has a few more years in him and is a solid guard.

I also think OG-Montre Holland was a super good pick up for the Broncos and is a great OG.

Here is a look at some of the later draft prospects:offensive line

Now this is a healthy group of picks that mite turn out to be starters down the road.

    In this years Draft class
OT-Kirk Barton, Ohio State PR:3 Good Worker,Mauler,Over achiever.
OT-Barry Richardson, Clemson PR:4 Jeff Otah value take it and like it.
OT-Jeremy Zuttah, Rutgers PR:4 One best lineman in the draft.
OT-Carlton Medder, Florida PR:4-5 Good Exp versatile
OT-Pedro Sosa,PR:6-7 Rutgers Has upside plays bigger then he is.
OT-Tyler Polumbus, Colorado good size and upside needs fat.

Here is a short list of Offensive Guards with later round value.

    OG-Donald Thomas, Connecticut PR:4
    OG-Adam Kraus, Michigan PR:4
    OG-Mike Fladell, Rutgers PR:6

If any of you has a good grasp at prospecting Offensive Guard and this years draft class.

And you have some other prospects in mind please post im having a tuff time on getting good Offensive Guard evaluation.:paper:

A minor note: Kuper was a 5th. Losing Eslinger (and Hixon) was a blunder.
I see you like Rutgers; me, too. Bronco OL must be quick and able to block on the move, but not get overpowered in pass pro. Zuttah has actually been projected as a G or C by some scouts. As someone else has pointed out, Branden Albert, a G in college is being projected as a T in the NFL; while Sam Baker, a T in college, is being projected as a G in the pros. OL are usually more interchangeable than DL.

Not sure how we evaluated our Line last year, and what the coaches are thinking going forward. I really like Brandon Albert, this guy is the kind of guy you build a line around. MEAN,MEAN,MEAN and he is also MEAN!!!!! Those guys with a natural mean streak are few and far apart, and you can not teach that. Denver has to be looking at the top OL/DL players at #12, if they do not fall to us, then I say Best Player Available.

If we don't get Albert...I would LOVE the possibility of picking up Adam Kraus. I love his play. We may not get Jake Long, but Michigan has been running the zone-blocking scheme the past two seasons. And Tyler Polumbus would be a great project OT to have for depth.

Maybe we should go back to picking up TEs and converting them to OTs instead. :-p
