  • Just a Theory....

OK, there are a couple of "ifs" here, but I was wondering what you guys would think of this. If Eddie Royal becomes at least a decent starter, and Josh Barrett/Marlon McCree/Hamza Abdullah and Nate Webster/Niko Koutivides make serviceable to decent starters, would you guys mind getting a RB in the 1st and going for an elite offense? Our O-line looks good with Clady, Hamilton, Nalen, Holland, and Kuper/Pears, and if Hamilton or Nalen get injured Kuper and Lich can play guard and Weigmann can play center. Chris Wells and Knowshon Moreno are 1a and 1b on my wish list. Chris Wells might be a product of a great team, but I've seen make some great individual plays, and Knowshon Moreno is also a good prospect. So if those "ifs" came true, would you be happy with this? That's also assuming that Torain isn't the answer, which I think is very possible, just control the injuries.

Although I think MLB will prove to be our biggest need, I wouldn't mind a 1st round RB if no one steps up and a really good one is available.

Depending on how this year goes, DT/DE may still be the biggest need.

Sorry, you can not add yourself to your own ignore list.

I think D-Rob and the M-Tank will be forces at DT, DE worries me a little bit though, Moss and Crowder haven't exactly gotten rave reviews so far this offseason. So pass rush may still be a concern, but I feel that with a field general, tackling machine, enforcer MLB, the whole defense would benefit from it. Plus I really like both Maualuga and Laurinaitis in next year's draft, who will probably be Pro Bowlers in the NFL.

Another DT. Keep the youth along the line flowing.

I think Ben Tate will be the best back taken in the 2010 draft. (5/3/10)

If none of our running backs work out this year then yeh get one or two. I say we bring James Davis from Clemson he really reminds me of T.D his nickname is thunder by the way, and to help him out we bring in C.J Spiller who partners Davis in the Clemson backfield and he could be the change of pace guy that comes in useful he is close to Alridge speed but he is bigger and stronger so less likley to get hurt his nickname is lighting. so imagine them two in the backfield and with a healthy Marshall taking the safteys attention off them they will run riot in the nfl. but if Young/Hall/Torain work out then MLB is a must upgrade i have been wondering if we should stick Woodyard in the middle with his ability to read plays and get to the ball he should be a effective run stuffer in the middle if we don't try this then we must get one of the big 2 linebackers out the draft.

heres a video of Davis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Teovx...eature=related

            heres one of Spiller http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFQfITF1oPQ

Our 1st round pick really depends on a couple of things. If our safeties and MLB are just serviceable to decent starters, i believe we should go for a top MLB or S. If they look like they will be great starters for now and the future, then we have a few different options. Even if they just look good, I would say go for MLB/S.

If Boss has issues staying healthy then OLB is another area to look at.

If Thomas doesn't have a good year or Robertson has health issues, we should go for a DT. Even if they do have a good season I still think we should take one in the top 3 rounds. We have so much youth at DE that I don't believe there is any need to go for a DE in the 1st or 2nd round.

Also if Brandon Marshall continues having off field issues we might want to take a look at WR in the 1st.

As far as running back, if the above are covered than thats an option, but I still want to see Torain in action (which might not happen this season), as well as see how Young holds up.

marcus tank doesn't have the same ring to it as tank johnson.......tank thomas maybe? lol.

but anyway while i don't mind a running back, i would rather get an MLB with the first round pick. i think that torain can turn out to be our 1-2 down back, so i think we should target a speed back. and, i obviously hate those high pick situational guys(bush, MCFADDEN) we're probably better off with a later pick. maybe theres another chris johnson next year who slips?

I think it will come down to Torain. If he looks impressive at some point, RB will not be a high priority. I really don't believe Young or Hall will be the primary weapons in the long run, even though they are good players. But if Torain doesn't get to the next level, I'd seriously look at a round 1 or 2 pick. Otherwise we need a MLB badly, as well as a Safety. Of course, we need players at other spots, but we can take one in mid to late rounds (oline / dline / CB).

With all these needs, we should opt for a couple of good free agents, possibly at oline / dline / WR, where you can not expect a first year player to excel.

if i was a gm... i would tap the internet fan base

after the combine, prior to the draft i would poll people like us... and whoever got most votes is who we went after.

ahh... the democracy of it all makes feel so american!!!!

and then, we would feel validated in our constant bickering and debating over who and why.

There definitely are a group of fans that will bicker and complain and second guess (in fact, many of us do at some point) but for the most part, as fans we like to dream and scheme. That's what sports is all about. Keeps us involved. And when teams pick players that we want via the draft, FA or trade, it makes it that much more fun.
