thomas probably hits PS, polk however isn't eligible for PS, that dude is a special teams beast who i expect will latch on somewhere

rest of our cuts are nothing to really write home about but one or two may catch on somewhere else

Oneal would be an awesome nickel corner. He's a ballhawk that could provide big sparks in some games.

31 career interceptions is nothing to sneeze at. Especially a year with 9, and 10 INT's.

I'd take O'Neal over Foxworth/Paymah.

I disagree, but we will find out all we need to know about Foxworth this season. He is a FA next year so we should see his best season, maybe even an interception or two. I think with the new trend of excellent slot receivers, the nickel back is becoming a very important position.

My logic is, Fox/O'Neal might get burned the same number of times, but O'Neal would make some big plays at least. 9 and 10 int seasons IS a big deal, as the previous poster said...

What good does 10 interceptions do for your team, when your giving up 20 TD's trying to get those interceptions?

You do know that's why he was cut in Denver, and Cincinnati right? Nobody's going to flat out cut a guy that is capable of 10 interceptions unless there's a damn good reason for it.

If we were to cut Foxworth right now, it would be for never looking back for the ball, never making a big play, and poor tackling. Obviously Foxworth is younger so he is more likely to improve than O'Neal, but I think we aren't going to re-sign him next year, so we should get what we can in a trade.

If we don't re-sign him next year, there's a great chance that he signs with another team, has a solid year, and Denver gets a compensatory pick as high as the third round.

Denver was trying to trade him during camp, and couldn't get anything higher than a 5th round pick for him.

Average CB's are a dime a dozen in the NFL.

20 TD's is a bit of an exaggeration.

He single handedly won some games for Denver, like that 4 INT game he had against the Chiefs.

He got burned in Denver cause we were expecting him to cover their best guys, but put him in at nickel or dime and have him cover the teams 3rd or 4th best receiver and you've got a good player.

Don't mean to be nit picky but I believe we traded Deltha to the Bengals right? Anyway below is something I found on another website...so from what I gather the main reason the probably cut him is another player took his spot and they were probably still paying him starter money.

Comment: O'Neal was benched in favor of Leon Hall during the 2007 season and it has become clear that he is no longer the playmaker he once was. However, he did acclimate to the nickel cornerback role very well and is a team player. His athletic ability is waning, but he still makes plays on the ball in front of him while showing good anticipation and ball skills. He has very good hands and rarely drops an interception that he should catch. He still shows signs of being the fast, fluid athlete he once was. He can still be hesitant and often plays scared. His route recognition is too deliberate and his reactions probably will never be top notch. He has now had two subpar seasons in a row and the end could be near for O'Neal.
