Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

How about looking at bringing Dre onto the roster? What are the negatives?
I would say probably that we like all our DT's, but then again?? Is Nic Clemons a guy that can go onto the PS and put Dre on the roster?

What are his stats?
2010 Draft 1st Round- ILB: Rolando McClain (Alabama)
2nd Round- DE: Allen Bailey (Miami)
3rd Round- C: Stefen Wisniewski (Penn State)
4th Round- CB: Walter Thurmond (Oregon)
6th Round- KR/PR: Brandon Banks (KSU)
7th Round- RB: Stafon Johnson (USC)
I'd love us to pick him up. However, he showed up to Tampa overweight and got cut as a result; Shanny traded Holland for that reason, so picking up Moore would be a nasty case of double standards.
Well for one reason... He was a higher draft pick and value then Powell ... The Broncos drafted Powell for a reason and now he is hurt...Maybe give Moore a 2nd chance at least a look and fill whatever role Powell was suppose to fill this season...
Tampa Bay is not a team struggling for defensive depth...
Dre Moore has already been placed on Tampa Bays practice squad, so if we signed him, we could only sign him to our active roster, and he has to remain there the rest of the year.
TB has a plethora of talent along the interior dline which is why he probably didn't make the team, but the fact that his rights are protected to a degree, it's a big risk to take a chance on using him for a roster spot and him having to remain there the rest of the year.

Shanahan also gave Holland the chance to lose weight, which I guess he couldn't keep off. If Dre Moore kept it off I would say it's a nice pickup.

Not really, Holland played on the oline while Dre is Dline. You can't compare the measurables from players at different positions. Well you can, but it wouldn't be wise. Perhaps a 5'11" 200lb TE or a 6'5.5" 254 RB (well maybe the RB, but not if he runs 4.62*)

He was overweight? I watched him for a couple plays and one involved him trying to chase down a QB and believe me, he didn't look overweight chasing him down. At least, it didn't hinder his speed any.

It's not the point - showing up overweight and, as a consequence, out of shape, it gives coaches the distinct impression that they're not committed enough. It would be the same for players from any position - look at Mo Clarrett!

He may not have lost the speed, but if the coaches felt that he was out of shape it'd be enough to warrant cutting him.

According to the collective bargaining agreement:
Section 5 deals with the treatment of practice squad players that are later signed to an NFL club. If a club (club B) signs a player off of the practice squad of another team (club A) then the player must receive 3 weeks salary and be counted towards club B’s active/inactive 53 man roster even if they’re terminated before the 3 week period has past.
If the player is not terminated, but is instead signed to club B’s practice squad, they will still count towards a club’s active/inactive roster until the 3 week period has past. The last couple of sentences, dealing with salary are just there to ensure that a player that is signed to any NFL club is entitled to receive 3 weeks and only 3 weeks salary, regardless of the team or team(s) it comes from.
According to this he would have to count on the 53 man roster for 3 weeks; I can't find where he would have to stay on the entire season; did that change this year?
Still not sure it would be a good move though anyway but; What isn't up for debate is Moore's talent and rise in production. A starter in 10 of 13 games in 2006, Moore registered 47 tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. His numbers improved to 63 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and a team-leading 6.0 sacks as a senior.

But he's not better than Kenny Peterson or Alvin McKinley at this point, so there is no need.
