Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.
--Broncos Country Message Board Staff
I think both of these guys are going to drop a little bit due to OSU's defense not really living up to expectations this year.
I like Freeman on the outside, not sure about inside though.
JL is a good cover MLB, but I don't like his chances of success here in Denver because our weak DL won't give him the kind of protection he needs to thrive.
1. DT Senderick Marks (Auburn) 6-1, 294 lbs
very easily going to be a 1st rd pick, if he keeps up his current production, hopefully this guy declares, because if he does we need to grab him. its clear what happens when robertson goes down...we struggle. I really like kenny peterson and he is doing some good things for us but rotation would suit him best, we need some seriously talented youth to bring this line up to speed. with powell waiting in the wings. it would behoove us to have a penetrating DT that can play opposite thomas or robertson.
Stat line- 4 games plyd, 19 tackles, 8.5 for loss, 2 sacks, 1 PD
2. SLB Aaron Curry (WakeForest) 6-3, 241 lbs
can play outside and inside, very dominating and smashmouth LB, the difference is he has the smarts and football instincts to back up his play. he takes good angles, makes great tackles, is good in coverage, and can blitz, he also flys to the ball and makes plays. Having him would give us a upgrade at MLB over anyone currently on our roster, or it would give us an instant impact player at SLB(SOMETHING BOSS BAILEY IS NOT) eitehr way it addresses the LB needs we have, as larsen and woodyard will improve more each game as well
Stat Line- 4 games plyd, 30 tackles, 4.5 for loss, 1 sack, 1 INT, 1 FR
3. S Chris Clemons (Clemson) 6-1, 210 lbs
very good safety, his combine speed will drop him here a little but, i think he has good game speed, he hits hard, flys to the ball, and can make plays in coverage. in any case he would be a good guy to bring up with barrett, as manuel and mcree are surely not the answers.
- If we get a DT in draft and and drafting today. We could grab Owens from him dropping most likely. Of course I think B.J. Raji is going to have a better career in NFL then Marks and better for our team.
I also rather have Ron Brace with a 4th or reach for him a little. No, Not a boston college fan but think they will be very good and require double teamed a lot.
- If we had to draft today. Aaron Curry could sneak into round one and is looking like 3rd best OLB in draft. If went in round two... would go quick.
- I would not mind Chris Clemons if best saftey left... however with the talent above him.
Round 1: Andre Smith OT Ala
Based on KC's last performence I dont think they will have a top 3 pick this
year in the draft so Michael Oher is out of the question. Andre Smith on the
other hand, is still there. The way he has played this year has been amazing.
He is an awfully big dude, but he showed this osffseason that he is willing to
loose weight for the team. He has been leading that tough Alabama run game
all year. I also liked how he looked out in the open field on a few screen passes
I saw him block in against GA. I cant sleep on Eugen Monro though, he is the
guy that kept Branden Albert in at OG, and Albert has played well for KC at LT
this year.
Round 2: Aaron Curry SLB WF
After Pat Thomas's game against Denver I now have some slight faith in him as
a decent MLB thus making SLB out biggest need. I dont think that the Donnie
Edwars/Demarrio Williams combo is working the best. Curry could try MLB if we
felt it was needed, but I dont think it will be. My only concern here would be
that he might not make it this far down. I figure him, Spikes,Weatherspoon, or
Cushing will fall to here. Other options would be Heyward-Bey, Maclin, or Harvey
if they fell this far... Then there is always Alphonso Smith, but Carr and Flowers
have looked good so far at CB.
Round 3: Domonique Johnson CB Jackson St.
Whoops, we all know KC still needs some help in the secondary. The guy is 6'2"
190lbs and runs a 4.34 40... But Jackson St. and the fact that he transfered
from Missouri to Jackson St. for "undisclosed" reasons are stopping him from
being a first round look. He should be looking at hind sight right now debating
if it was worth it to leave MU, but hey... He will still get drafted.
Round 4: Jarrett Dillard WR Rice
Production = production. I cant make an arguement for him, because how do
you go against this guy right now? I dont know if he would be there in the 4th
round, but man if he is we gotta be on him. Mike Thomas would be an acceptable
option B.
Round 5: Rhett Bomar QB Sam Houston St.
Remember this dude? From Oklahoma looked amazing in his freshmen year...
Then it came about that he was taking money while still in college... He reappeared
last year but has really come back so far this year. 10 TDs in 3 games with a
167.8 QB rating. He did throw 3 picks against Kansas, his only INts on the season,
but he also threw for 340 yards and a TD. At a small school like good ole SHST
games like that will happen.
Round 6: Ian Cambell DE K St.
His sophmore campaign was monsteress... He caught people off guard, well
last year he did not. He went from 11.5 sacks to 4.5 sacks, but thats what
happens when your the only threat on your team. He is a bit small for a 4-3 DE
but so were Lawson and Kiwunuka when coming out. I'll take my chances has
him ending up being a pass rush specialist or even a rush LB.
Round 7: Matt Slauson OG Neb
The only thing keeping him down is the lack of a REAL Nebraska team.. and the
vandilism charges he faces. I will get a good look at him Sat. when he goes up
against Ziggy Hood. Its so hard to get late round guys...
Grid, are you in denial that the Chiefs will be taking a QB on day 1? The team needs its passer of the future to develop with the rest of the young talent, and I have zero faith that Croyle can be that guy.
I know many here are fans of Maualuga, Moore... But I don't think these players will be avaiable when Denver is on the clock. A 1st round pick spent on a MLB or S would not be bad, but we need D-linemen so badly. DT or DE would be great, it depends on who is avaiable. And no more 250 lbs DEs, please. Yes, we gave 3 picks to get Jarvis Moss, but he is a below average backup. Until we fix the D-line, our defense will keep looking bad. Only if a really dominant MLB/S is avaiable we should not draft DL first.

Are you suggesting Stafford? Um, have you watched him?
Maybe your saying Sanchez? A loss to Oregon St?
Oh, you mean Bradford? Wait, he is running a version of the spread this year
and is still doing worse than Chase Daniel.
Tim Tebow? Oh wait, i dont want the next Vince Young
Oh, round 2? Curtis Painter... Wait he chokes in every big game.
Um Cullen Harper, oh no Clemson sucks this year.
I dont like any of those guys for when KC would have to take them.
Trust me, there is nothing I want more than a franchise QB, but no
one is worth their going rate... If KC ends up picking in the 10 range
and Stafford is there I would consider it... Or if Stafford really steps it
up then maybe. But going off his play, he is not worth the #1, or even
#5 pick. Bradford, plays in a spread like Daniel only isnt as good as it,
Tebow is a scrub, Sanchez looks overhyped after the OSTU game,
I was on the Painter wagon but he chokes, and Harper's team is just
too bad to take him that early.
Also, going by Bomar's performance in his freshmen year at OK he would
have been a first round talent... had he not screwed up.
There is alot of season left, but right now I dont want any of those guys
where they are supposed to go.
I'm not saying I like any of the first round QB options, I'm just pointing out the fact that your team may feel more than a little pressure to go for a QB early.
A *lot* of Atlanta fans didn't like the idea of Matt Ryan at 3, but the team felt it had to do something about the QB position. QB's take time to develop, and if you have no one lined up, it's pretty hard to put off making that pick. I think the Chiefs dodged it last time because they were hoping Croyle might step up.
I like Rhett and Dan LeFevour @ QB... So I do not want Rhett to go to KC
But there is a high percentage that you goes go QB with your first pick because well the obvious. I think if you guys have a top 5 pick... You should get a QB and not go with Michael Oher or Andre Smith because I am a Broncos fan.

Just something to consider.
I understand, and I really want a franchise QB... Im just not feeling these guys.
I want William Moore or Taylor Mays in the 1st round. Spencer Larsen is gonna be our starting MLB; it's only a matter of time. We might get Leonard Little via trade which would be a huge boost to the D-line, and I still have hope in Moss and Crowder. The last missing piece is a great safety, which both Moore and Mays have the potential to be.

I agree completely, which is why I'm pulling for greg middleton. I don't want someone who will "put on 15 pounds of muscle" I want someone ready to go day one. Yes there will be some adjusting to the NFL but he has the size and strength against the run plus skills to rush the qb his first year. I also wouldn't be opposed to taking a center like Alex Mack either. Clady, Harris, Kuper, and Mack all on the Oline. They could be a dominant line for 10 years
The 4-3 DE class is definitely weak at the top end. I can see easily see a situation where no 4-3 ends go in the 1st round. Okay, maybe someone will gamble on Michael Johnson's physical tools... but his production is pathetic for a such a hyped prospect.
On the other hand, it's going to be a great draft for 3-4 teams, as many of the top college DE's are much betters fits as pass rushing OLB's in the pros. Tyson Jackson is a very solid pick as a 3-4 end as well.
Actually there are about seven defensive ends that fit the 4-3 and 3-4 alternation defenses whom are ranked as fourth round prospects or higher. Not sure where you are getting your rankings...but Shanahan needs to gamble with the draft - Safety would be a safe first round pick, but he hardly ever goes that route, we are hurting so much at the end position he is looking at Leonard Little!!! I would say that end is a priority and Denver is trying to utilize the draft now more then free agency. We will not be able to touch a blue ribbon prospect at linebacker in the first round, and why would Denver grab a first round defensive tackle when the coaching staff is high on Robertson and Thomas, it is the right end spot that is hurting the line the most.
Without a doubt I believe Safety, End and Linebacker will be the priority of the draft, but in which order we will all have to speculate till then.
INc... the one thing I noticed about your choices is that the DE's weigh around 255lbs.
well english on his team page says he weighs in at 260, and reed weighs in at 258. the reason they can succede in my opinion is that they actually have the frame to gain good mass unlike moss. they are stout and have lots of strength and power, something moss really had to try to obtain and still hasnt. they should have no problem gaining 10+ lbs which would make them ideal for us as they are both tall as well.
Also i watched both guys in games this year and they dominated. English doesnt have huge stats this year but its hard to argue with 22.5 sacks over the last 2 years and 18.5 TFL. thats production period, stats arent evrything, but these guys will get alot of hype come combine time because of there strength.
and nick reed is tearing apart teams right now....

what about owens injury, we would probally shy away from him. also with regards to BJ Raji, i like him, but i think we essentially have 2 DT's just like him in robertson and thomas. Marks is more of the penetrating DT we could use opposite thomas or robertson. in my opinion we lack the guy that can penetrate as a result of double teams......but i wouldnt be upset if Bj was picked for this team.
if aaron curry went to rd 1 i would take him with our first rd pick because i personally belive he will be a pro Bowl OLB in year 1 in the pros. plus i dont like boss and i think he gets a free pass here because he is champs brother. he is highly injury prone...he gets dinged up every game and has to be escorted off, then comes back later...its like man up already. he is not physical and i think he is only on this team because of his speed. i personally dont think he has talent, just athletic ability....curry doesnt have those issues, and we could use him as a blitzer, because he rocks at it.
i like lancanes idea about emanuel cook.....at safety as well.
what bothers me is the fact that we do have so many defensive needs. i wouldnt mind a top safety or a top Dt, or even a top DE......
i think this draft will really show how comitted this team is to building and scouting......
