Biggest Need

hi there

i'm gonna ask you something people ... cause after a loss seems that everybody here just see the bad things about the team and puts a lot of emphasis on it ...

so after saying that, what's the biggest need of this team??, and when you tell me also suggest a solution via draft or free agency

ill say MLB is the biggest need, but not because its our worst position but just because a great MLB that plays with fire and intensity as well as a great understanding of the game and makes plays can change a whole defense around

then ill have to lump together both DE and DT because im not sure what the problem is on our line, the ends get around the edges sometimes and then there is a huge gap in the middle, and when the middle collapses the ends are nowhere to be found . . . .hard to judge where the problem is there

next i would go safety. we need a ball hawk somebody who flies to the ball and is able to change a defense the ways like a mike brown (when healthy) bod sanders and others in that mold are just by there presence in both the run and the pass defense.

finally RB - unless torain proves he is able to be our franchise back we need a RB that can carry the load and prove to be a threat in both short yardage situations and is also able to take it to the house, a multi purpose back is something we have been missing since portis, i think that when you dont have to change back all the time based on down and distance you have a serious advantage over the D because they wont have any idea what your gonna do

for example, pittman come in on short yardage situations and pass blocking , hall is a spell back, and young is the guy on most 1-2 downs

i agree it is a need but it certainly is NOT our biggest need, team have proven you dont need a great secondary with a great pass rush

and like i mentioned in your thread if we took the mizzue safety and spikes we cover a lot of problems here, maybe we could get a DE in free agency and push hard for him, imagine if we had kerney right now

Biggest Need? Julius Peppers...

D Line is killing us on D, if slowik is only going to rush 3-4 lineman on 3rd and 6, we NEED to get more pressure. Today I watched Engelberger playing end on 3rd down and I think the only pass rush move he has is the bull rush. I think we need a solid DE so that the opposing D coordinator has something to worry about.

The key is to get a veteran DE in FA next year and get a stud ILB or S in the draft.

As I watched the game today I noticed that our defense was soooo bland. It's like Slowik got the D fired up this week, but forgot put in a gameplan.


SO the keys to this offseason are this:

Get Peppers or stud DE
Draft MLB and S
Slowik gets his stuff together or get a good D coordinator

David Gerrard was getting ridiculous amounts of space in the pocket, and getting 5-7 seconds of time to throw the ball. Yet, on multiple occasions, he couldn't find anywhere to go with it. That's called good coverage. Our secondary doesn't need to get much better, Manuel aside. The problem is that he's getting 5-7 seconds, and we can't force the bad decisions, which is why you're not seeing any interceptions.

You guys dog on cornerbacks because they're not Champ Bailey. Heck, sometimes you fans call out Champ Bailey because he's not "Champ Bailey" absolutely 100% of the time. The secondary isn't the problem. It's the defensive line, by far and away. The key being our pass rush. I mean the lack of a pass rush.

the problem is that both guys are gonna be gone in the 1st round, so unless we get another 1st round pick, i don't think we get them

We need an intense MLB. A ball-hawking aggresive S and some DL that can actually get a rush.

I hope we do somehow get Moore and Spikes in the first. Then Focus on line for the rest of the draft

The Broncos have a number of needs, and not enough picks to fill them.

They will have to take the best player(s) available, regardless of position.

When they have 'targeted' players in the past at certain positions, they have failed for the most part.

I agree, Bly has not been playing poorly at all.

Karl Paymah was, but he has been replaced.

First off, I'm new to the message boards but not new to being a broncos fan.
Secondly I was praying every day and every night that the broncos were going to sign demorrio williams. Turns out they didnt.

Anyway, I think we need to trade dre bly, and get whatever we can out of him, draft picks or whatever extra water on game days.

I'm not to concerned with the 2009 draft but the only person that i want us to get is............. Mike Mickens. Enough said, the best cornerback in college football. I would love to see him in a broncos uniform. I also think we need to clean up our running backs. I dont like having 4 rb's, i liked the good ole days of having TD run for 2k yards. I would like the broncos to draft marlon lucky. Not to run the ball but to catch the ball out of the backfield, just like reggie bush. So if we have to get rid of some running backs? or i dont know. People think we need running backs. But i dont see why. Selvin Young is a 1,500 yard running back if he got more then 10 carries a game. Getting larry johnson, like rumored, would be pointless.

I disagree 100% without just about every thing in bold... Young is not a 1500
guy because most of his yardage comes from passing situations, or against
pass defenses. He doesnt show the ability to run against 8 men fronts or the
ability to wear down a defense. He gets more wore down than the guys tackling
him, unlike Adrian Peterson, LT, Westbrook, LJ, ect... Defenses are tired of
tackling those guys in the 4th quarter. Not only that, but Young doesnt have
the "tuff" yards in him.

Secondly, to even make a possible notion that Young is as good, or almost as
good as LJ is unbelievable.

*Just watching Jamal Lewis run through 4 NYG tacklers to make a first down
because they dont want to be hit by him anymore... Young isnt like that.

hey, I too am a fan, being born there and all, but Demorrio plays Will (I believe) and we have DJ. No way would I want Demorrio over DJ.

And although I do think Lucky would be a pretty good back for us, we have far more pressing needs than RB. Pittman showed he can carry the load for a whole game. Can he do it multiple games without tiring out? We'll see. But Torain comes back in a few weeks and lets wait and see how he develops before we go and spend a 2nd or 3rd round pick on another RB when we need DE, DT, MLB, SS, FS, CB

i agree.....no pass rush= hours to pic away at the secondary and many holes in the defense.....i bet if a quarterback wanted to against Denver, he could lay down, jump back up, and pass it without being touched( a little humor lol) i love denver but we NEEEEED a leader and D line soon or were in trouble
