Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

If we win the division our highest possible draft position would be 21st. All playoff teams are out of the top 20 regardless of record.
The good news.... with the immediate success of Ryan & Flacco... and with the "needs" some teams are going to have drafting in the top-15... I could see a few QBs drafted (especially if Colt & SB declare).
I think a few of those safeties will go high...
If we pick in the early 20s... We should still be able to grab Spikes or Oghobaase.
I think DENVER will just sit back and wait for this: DL, LB, S. Take the best player available approach.
The problem will come in the 2nd round... Drafting in the 50s is a BIG difference from drafting in the 40s. A guy like Spikes, Oghobaase, Mack MIGHT slip a little... but... first round talent that falls ALWAYS gets gobbled up early in the 2nd round.
I would propose making a deal to move up in the second round. I think this is one reasy why DEN stockpiled picks this year... They saw the value of a high 2nd draft pick (Royal)...
SO... I expect DEN to draft Spikes... THEN, if one of those FS prospects fall (Roell, Mays) or if a guy like Mack (C) or Oghobaase (DT) is still there- GOBBLE, GOBBLE.
because u get to play in the playoffs, it would be unfair to make the playoffs and then get to pick ahead of teams that didnt in other divisions
sigpic

Your teams strength should be determined by their record...not by their "making the playoffs".
Yes, but what if we have the 15th worst record, make the playoffs as a wildcard team since we won the division, go on a run and win the Super Bowl? Should we win the Super Bowl and still get the 15th pick? The only thing I can think of is that you shouldn't guarantee the division winner a spot in the playoffs. Almost 100% of the time though, the division winner will get into the playoffs anyway, but(just to illustrate my point) once on my Madden franchise a division winner went 6-10 and still got into the playoffs since they won the division, they didn't really earn a playoff spot since there were other teams with better records, but they got it. I personally don't think that's fair, but that's the way it is and that's how the draft order is determined.:salute!:
If we passed on Knowshawn Marrino and didn't take him, I'd probably cry... I don't care how bad the defense is, there are legit starters at safety that will be free agents this season, and even if the safety is an eventual star, he won't contribute too much early.
But Knowshawn would come in and have an Adrian Peterson impact as a rookie, he's also very durable and tough, and wouldn't be prone to injuries like our current FOUR running backs. Also, with a legitimate RB, we wouldn't be forced to throw the ball 70% of the time, and see Jay make some many turnovers. He'd have someone to bring safeties into the box, as well as there would be fewer plays where Cutler would have to try to force something.
Knowshawn is also an amazing cutback runner, with good elusiveness, balance, and agility... he'd be killer in our zone blocking system. Our offense would easily be the best in the NFL...
We won't ever have a top 5 defense, but with the rest of the draft even focused on only defense, and some key cheap but effective starters from the FA, and we would be contenders. Just my opinion... :salute!:
1st round pick should be RB, S, LB or DT. That's where we need serious help. Depending on how we finish the season, we could trade down to get extra picks.

I agree with S or DT in the 1st! Our offence is nearly set. RB in the 2nd!
