  • Jasper Brinkley for MLB in 2009

We need to get this guy on day 1 of the draft. He would have been a 1st round pick 2 years ago, but opted to go back to college and got hurt in
2007. That guy is back in a big way and plays much better and smarter football than several other big name MLB's ((like Ray Mauluga (sp?)). This guy is always around the ball and hits like a Mack Truck!

BTW, day 1 means up to the 3rd round. He should still be available in round 3, but will get picked up early in round 4 if teams realize he is still on the board for day 2.

    any thoughts?

hes more of a 3-4 inside LB he had a pretty serious injury and lost a lot of his speed

        ill pass on him

we need to stop drafting guys with bad injury history it ALWAYS bites us in the rear

I thought a day one pick meant rounds 1 and 2?

Yeah they changed it a couple years ago, a day one pick is now just rounds 1 and 2.

What we need to do is draft another Spencer Larsen in the 6th round so he can take over the current Spencer Larsen's spot at FB and special teams.
But seriously guys we got a steal in Larsen. I don't think we need to spend a day one pick on a MLB anymore. It think if a quality ILB like Holtclaw falls past the 4th round we should grab him, otherwise we should focus on our other defensive holes first:
              2 safeties
              1 DE
              1 DT
              1 CB
              1 SLB

not to mention a RB, an Olineman, and a backup QB

I have been pushing for the Broncos to draft Brinkley he is a stud and he will rise fast once the scouts start to study his game play. His speed has fallen a bit after his injury but he also put on like 15 lbs of muscle. He is a true leader and hits hard as all get out. I have him as a mid 3rd rounder now some people have him a bit lower, but he should rise to a low 2nd or high 3rd come draft day.

                Jasper Brinkley in 09:salute!:

I think people need to watch him more before getting into this arguement...

I can see how people like him with his size, speed, and his elite big hit ability
(best big hitter in this draft class, I.E. he makes the most and biggest big
hits, yet doesnt whiff on them as much as others). He looks NFL ready with
                  his skill set and mindset...

That being said, his speed isnt elite, he is coming off a major injury, and it is
possible that his skills are just not up to par with Spikes, James, or Rey, especially
                  after the injury.

Personally, I'm really high on Jasper.
Club Leader: Robert Griffin III > Andrew Luck

                  ^^^Get used to it.^^^

You can't compare him to the other 3 that are first rounders since he is a 3rd rounder for now. His value only dropped because of his injury(which seems to be healed fine by his level of play) or else we would be seeing him right in the first round mix with the other 3. And his speed after his injury will still be around the same as Spikes and Maualuga who both run a 4.65 approximatley.

If we grab a DL or S in the first we can grab him in the late 2nd or early 3rd and he wont have the 1st rounder expectations. Also we still have Larsen, Niko, and maybe Webster if we resign him, so Brinkley could afford to sit and learn or he can come out and produce right away.

Mays or Moore in the first!!!!

I really think It depends on what Larsen shows us as a MLB.

I would welcome the pick, though the reason he would slide to the 3rd or 4th would be the injury concern.

Just a quick thought as far as MLB goes, Do you think Woodyard could possibly fit in the middle? I only ask this because he has played great at WLB, and when DJ comes back obviously DJ will take his spot.

I could potentialy see Woodyard and Larsen battle out for the middle spot next year if we dont take a MLB early.

Woodyard is to small to be a MLB. Him at WLB or SLB he would be ok but he is undersized for the MLB spot.

Lets hope Shanny puts him at SLB once DJ comes back and we can see how he does!!!!

Unless he plays out of his mind the Broncos will still need a MLB, personally I don't think he has it in him, I don't think Larsen or Woodyard are NFL starters.

Larsen is sssssslllllloooooowwwww and Woodyard is tiny, they're are depth/ST players only.......Larsen might be able to get by for a little while as a limited, two down starter, at best, Woodyard can play in certain packages, but neither is starter material.......

woodyard is starting material as a WLB, he is everything you look for in a WLB.... move DJ to mike and we upgraded our lb corps in 1 fell swoop. larsen does look a little slow to be a full-time mike but you never know, michael turner is a beast to bring down and larsen did it with authority when needed.....

i think the biggest question is SAM not mike. and i think Shanny has no qualms about moving Dj back to mike where he was one of the better mikes over the last part of last season in the entire NFL....

Winborn is a back-up, and boss is just a waste of roster space untill he goes to IR again next year for something....larsen may have the ability to play here at SAM but that is a huge wildcard possibility.....i think this is where the LB need is and unless we can get curry or someone like him FA is our best bet for this.

I am even more ceratin that Nate will not be resigned and that Niko will back up woodyard at WLB......

I didn't realize that. Of course, the NFC North is still the Central. lol.
