2009 Draft Early Entry Thread

This thread will keep track of all the notable underclassmen either entering the draft, or returning to school. To start things off, I have news of a pretty big time prospect going pro:

Illinois junior cornerback Vontae Davis will forgo his final year of eligibility and enter the 2009 NFL draft.

The two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection could be the first cornerback selected in April's draft. Davis' older brother, Vernon, plays tight end for the San Francisco 49ers.

Davis, a three-year starter for the Illini, led Big Ten cornerbacks with 78 tackles to go along with two interceptions and 10 pass deflections this season. As a sophomore he recorded four interceptions, eight pass breakups and a career-best 13 solo tackles against USC in the Rose Bowl.

He will probably be the 2nd corner taken in the draft, with Malcolm Jenkins being the 1st and a top 10 pick.

The deadline for underclassmen declarations is Jan. 15.

Watch this guy

I have been witnessing a very strong RB out of Iowa by the name of Schonne Green. He is a junior now and more than likely will not return for his senior year as he isn't your typical Rhoades Scholar. Watch this guy on tapes if you get the chance. He may be the next coming of TD! I kid you not one bit. He is that good and getting better. He might not show high on the draft radar so Shanny can pull off yet another great draft pick. Wath him and you will agree. He was #5 on the Heisman voting.

"I talked to Coach Saban quite a few times about it," Cody said. "I told him what I really wanted to do.

He felt like it was good for me to do that, too. I told him I felt like I needed another year to get full control and get my weight down and then get my knee back to full health." Cody has said all along that he would likely return.

But there was a minor panic online last night when Cody's Facebook status changed to say he was going pro. He said tonight that it was merely a joke by his girlfriend and he never anticipated the immediate, overwhelming response it drew from Alabama fans.

While Cody said he's certain to return, junior tailback Glen Coffee said he has submitted his name to the advisory board, joining junior left tackle Andre Smith, who said earlier today he has filed his paperwork. - Gentry Estes, Everything Alabama

Raji is now a top 20 pick.

BJ Raji is a player that comes with boucoup baggage. He had to redshirt last season due to academic issues, which relates directly to his work ethic and character. I would be very wary of him, especially as a first round pick.

he played his heart out this year for BC, i am not worried at all......but if DT is a first rd option for us i think peria jerry would be the guy before raji......
