It's been awhile since I've posted a mock, and since we know the general area of our pick I thought I'd post one. This is hypothetical because I'm going to do it as if we signed Albert Haynesworth. Now don't tell me all the reasons of why this will never happen because I already know them and I don't think we'll get him, but this is if we do. So just say what you like and dislike about it if we got Haynesworth.
1. Malcom Jenkins/Vontae Davis, CB I personally prefer Davis, but whichever one is available. This is mostly a BPA pick, but I would also like a CB to groom that I think will be great. Both of these guys have potential to be shutdown CBs, and we won't push them into action prematurely. With all the great receivers and tight ends in our division, it'd be wise to have a great CB ready when Champ and Dre are gone. Plus, it would help our pass defense since we have our nickle CB covering the #2 and put Dre in covering the slot.
Alternate: Chris Wells
2. Rashad Johnson, FS A ball-hawk, pure and simple. Everyone should know about him. He would be a great addition in the secondary and should improve our pass-defense greatly. He's feisty and would help out in the running game if we asked him to.
Alternate: Shonn Greene, we take Greene if he's still available
3. James Davis, RB He's a great one-cut runner and would fit our system well. When we have a good running game we make average defenses look they're still on the sideline, good defenses look awful, and great defenses look good. In short, we'd make other defenses look like our defense if we had a good running.
Alternates: Nic Harris, Courtney Greene, other FS; just the best ball-hawk available. We take one if we get Greene, and we take Mark Parsons or another CB if we get Wells.
4. Ron Brace, DT A massive run-stopper. Thomas appears to be improving, and we'd have Haynesworth, but I'd still take Brace. Imagine our goalline defense with Haynesworth and Brace in the middle, maybe with Thomas and Ekuban on the outside! Talk about overpowering, we'd stop those power RBs like Brandon Jacobs in their tracks! Plus, this would allow us to leave more guys in coverage and not have to defend the run.
5. Mitch King, DE/DT This guy reminds me of a bigger John Engleberger. He's got a lot of heart and intensity, and he gives his all. He could be a good run-stopping DE and energize the defense with his intensity.
6. Best guard available, right now I can't remember the names that have been mentioned and I don't know a whole lot about the guards, but I'm hoping a good one will fall.
7. Kory Sperry, TE A homer pick mostly, but also a sleeper that could contribute. He's a homer pick because he plays for CU and he played at the same school some friends of mine have gone and are going to.
Let me know what you think. I don't really believe we'll get Haynesworth but stranger things have happened. I know a lot of you won't be crazy about the Jenkins/Davis pick but I think in the long run everyone would be happy.:salute!:
