Shannon Sharpe I belive was on of the leading pass catchers at the Mississippi school, Tom Brady wasn't bad in college, Terrel Davis had a good career in Georgia. Anal astronauts obiously have their heads up their....... so they can not think straight.

He plays alot like Webster in the fact that the mistakes he makes are the same ones that Webster has made all year.
I respectfully disagree. Rey will be much much better than Nate Webster IMO. Rey just brings a fierceness about him that steps up everyone's play around him. He will definately improve this defense. If Everrette Brown is available then it will be a hard decision to make. I might go Brown there. But either way, to compare him to Nate Webster is crazy.future Denver Bronco practice.........

Why wouldn't you want Malcolm Jenkins if he is there at #12? I think he is an excellent talent, but he wouldn't be my selection because we have two starters that can get the job done.
This is the same reason I do not tale Rey at #12, we have two players that can get the job done.
What we do not have is a NT or Rush backers needed to run a 3-4. Anyone who thinks we can go into the season with Woodyard, Moss, Crowder, Boss, and Doom as our OLBs, are just fooling themselves.
You can find very good 3-4 ILBs in the mid rounds, but to get elite pass rushers that can play OLB, you need to grab them early.
Teams fear their QB taking big hits.

Don't twist my words I didn't say Maualuga is gonna have a career like Webster. I think that Maualuga if picked by a decent 3-4 team like SD should have a good career, and he should be a pain in our butts. He is not something special like a once in a decade player, he is just this years version or jerod mayo It is that plain and simple.

I think he is pretty good! We need a guy that offensive players fear. I would be afraid of him!
1. Rey is a crusher
2. Rudy Carpenter is a pretty tough SOB himself.

i would not be upset at all if we drafted rey. he and DJ in the middle could be very good.
none of the 3-4 rush linebackers in this draft really impress me
Brown inconsistant
maybin wayyyy too small
sintim would be my first choice for a 3-4 olb, but he would be a huge reach at 12
oh i forgot about orakpo... i would gladly take him but i doubt he is there at 12

Brady was a no namer that was adequate in college with very little real success. He didn't make good decisions and lacked NFL arm strength according to scouts. He was lucky to get picked in the 6th round (had connections to Patriots), most teams had him graded a 7th round talent.
Davis wasn't even the starter for UGA and was nagged by small injury problems, on top of that, his production was hardly worth mentioning being as he didn't even spend a full four years there. He transferred in, played backup one year, and as a starter tore his hamstring his senior season.
So obviously you don't know too much to be calling people nasty names.
To stay on topic: I'd pass on Rey unless three or four other players are gone first. He's very prone to bad angles, missed tackles, and gets caught up in traffic and cannot shed blocks very well. Decent pass rusher, but horrible run defender if you run right at him. Pac ten O-lines maul him, I don't want to see him bother against NFL lines. :thumb:Last edited by hardcorebronco; 01-18-2009, 09:57 PM.sigpic
