Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

PH is the ONLY stud in a stable of RB scrubs. There's something intangible that makes him what I call a "football warrior," in the tradition of other FW's like Ed McCaffery. I am convinced had he not hurt his hammy he wouldve helped us win at least one of the final three games.
Did U notice that when he was playing then inserted in a starting role that our D performed better, mostly because they were not on the field so much?
Time to clean out the stable. New team, New era. However, Hillis is an essential cog in any system that will be inserted, starter or not. And I am sure McDaniels will see this. Expect a lot of action in F/A and the mid-late draft rounds for a new crop of RB's, because a strong running game will be one crucial step in helping the D improve their game.
Couldn't agree more... While I believe Hillis is a great talent, and what we would call a 'football player', he is not the answer to the run game. He will be a major part of the offense and I do believe that sincerely, but he will not get the nod to start in the backfield. He will in my opinion be the starting fullback, the third down back and H-back in the spread offense, so fans will be excited to see him more often, but he will give way to another from the get go. It is not all that bad, I really like Hillis...but we can ill afford to believe he is that capable to be a starter at that position in this league. Add in the issues of injury plagued athletes in our stable, there is a huge chance that one or two halfbacks are added in F.A. or the draft to better secure the stable.
Exactly. He's the ultimate mismatch/situational guy, but on first and second down he is best utilized as a pass catcher or blocker.
The question is if we keep him in can he stay in? He had injury problems in college, and now he's missed substantial time in his first season in the pros. Personally, I think he could be our starter and have success much like Mike Anderson did (his running style is very similar, and he's a much better receiver), however his durability is in question.
That said, I think his true calling is in the role of a roving matchup nightmare. His versatility, ability to lineup in various positions, and excellent all-around football skills are very hard for defenses to account for.

Only Bronco fans would complain about a guy that avg'd 5 yards a carry and was almost automatic on the goal line. He is the same type of runner Brandon Jacobs is for the Giants.
Jacobs gets around 200-225 carries a year, that leaves back #2 ( or 2a and 2b) to get around the same.
I really hope we draft another FB like maybe Tony Fiammetta or Quinn Johnson and see Hillis running behind them for 15 carries or so a game. That would really soften up a defense
yeah the injury thing is a big one for me. He just offers something really special here with what he can do on short yardage, and recieving the ball out of the backfield. I just dont want him to have the carries racked up on him. That is why I like him as a FB, or as the thunder in a thunder/lightning combo. That way he is fresh come playoff time, and then maybe we can make the playoff without a cell phone salesman trying to run the ball
yeah thats true but still i would like to see him atleast our goal line back or 3rd and 1 guy. ya know that guy that punches it in or gets those hard yards our scrubs and phone salesmen cant get
i would love to see a thunder/lighting combo
Hillis/?
yes i completely agree with you up until his injury i thought he did GREAT (NYJ, Atlanta to name a few games.) yeah and maybe a reserve to back Hillis up and give him a breather...i think he can get the job done.
He can mow people down doesnt get taken down by 1 damn defender....Selvin Young.....and hes really not that slow
So heres to Peyton Hillis for starting RB next year!!!1

There is (imo) nothing wrong with hillis starting at rb. he is a solid downhill runner, yes a burner like sproles is nice, but hillis is a lesser brandon jacobs with hands.
hillis did absolutely fine when he was in last year, blocked fine, caught balls, and plowed over defenders. A SOLID BACK!!!
a backup/ change of pace back would be nice to help him out though. (s. young, sproles, someone else)
that means our offense is fine and we can get solid defensive guys in the draft and free agency

Whether you want him as RB, FB, or H-back, I think everybody agrees that Hillis is a stud. As a Razorback fan, I can't tell you how stoked I was that we not only got him, but got him so late in the draft. I knew what he could do if he got on the field and showed the coaching staff what he's made of. The guy's one of the hardest workers on the team, and also one of the most self-less. He might be the steal of the entire draft (including Royal) of 2008, as long as he recovers from the injury well.
It depends on the offense that we try and run. If we run a downfield passing O lie NE runs. I like him as a HB. Good guy on the screen play, good up the gut runner. But if we stay west coast (ish) I think he is a perfect FB, he isnt explosive enough of a runner. But as dynamic as he was in the passing game you gotta just get the guy on the field, and at the very least give him the short yardage plays
exactly.
Hes a fantastic receiver, and from game one, he showed he was great on the screen play. This guy is a football player...... we need to keep him on the field whenever possible.
I do agree through... use him as the short yardage back, the back that we used to smash.... much like TB used Mike Alsott.
