Broncos Draft Needs
Urgent: Denver must strengthen its defense everywhere. A people-eating nose tackle, a middle linebacker, a playmaking defensive end, and a young ball-hawking free-safety are all urgently needed.
Strong: An outside linebacker, young center, a run-stuffing strong-safety and an offensive guard are all strong needs.
Moderate: A good solid running back also would help the cause, but is not a strong need.
2009 Jack-o-Mock Draft
1) Rey Maualuga - ILB (USC)
We need a solid core to our defense which starts with playmakers. Maualuga is a leader in the middle and a force to be feared....something we haven't had since Al Wilson.

2) William Moore - FS (MIZ) or Patrick Chung - SS (UO)
Both would be nice to have and either will be a serious upgrade to our current talent. I believe we will be able to keep Barrett as the other safety with his developing potential.

3) Mitch King - DE (UIa)
This guy is way under rated and is a force as a DE. He never takes off a play, plays with a serious mean streak and looks to have what it takes to make it at the next level.

4) Zach Follett - OLB (CAL)
Good nose for the ball, great at blitzing the QB and hits everything and everyone hard.....Just what we need to help develop a good defense.

5) A.Q. Shipley - C (PSU)
We need a OC in this draft at least for depth and development. We are too old at this position and K. Lick is our only youthful option at this point in time. A.Q. has all the credentials to be a solid OC in the ZBS.

5) Terrence Taylor - NT (UMi)
A prospect that had a lot of hype and production last season, but has had a down year possibly due to a new coaching staff. If he doesn't work out as a NT we can always look to develop him into a DE where he may be even more threatening.

6) Sammie Lee Hill - NT (SC)
Project NT that needs developing as he comes from a small school. He has great measurables for a NT and would learn well from a veteran we could pick up in free agency.

7) Rich Ohrnberger - OG (PSU)
A Later round OG that also looks to be a good option for depth on our offensive line and a good fit for our ZBS.

7) Rulon Davis - DE (CAL)
A late round DE that had an injury which shortened his year, still he looks to have a lot of upside to strengthen our d-line as he is very disruptive when healthy.

I tried to address as many areas of need as possible without trades. I'm sure it will change after free agency and the combine as our needs change and draft stock fluctuates.
Tell me what you think.....Any criticism or compliment is welcome and I will elaborate on my picks if you want me to.
