  • Bored of the traditional mocks? Here's a flier

after reading alot of the mock drafts around here they all start the same 1) rey rey or BJ raji. 2) ron brace and so on. So why not shake it up and go a little more radical with it ?

    1) trade UP for malcom jenkins : looking at picks 1-11 ahead of us 5) Cleveland 8) Jack 9) GB are the most likely to look for CB help with the other teams either having a selection that is too high for jenkins ( STL @2) or already have invested in a 1st round corner recently ( cincy, Oak, Buf) SF just dumped loads of cash on nate clements so they are out. My proposed trade: Trade this years 1st and 3rd with next years 3rd to jacksonville for the 8th overall to grab Jenkins here.

    - after securing Jenkins trade Bly for a 5th rounder (or a 4th if you can find a team desperate enough, but assume 5th for now )
    - then use that 5th to trade for Gregg Kelly from baltimore - with the emergence of Ngata the old starting NT for the ravens might just be the odd man out. Pick him up for veteran experience in not only a 3-4, but a hybrid 3-4.

    2) Shonn Greene - break away from the tradition need on defense here to pick up a stud of a RB for an otherwise suspect RB core - too many injuries and inconsistent play to feel completely comfortable with what we have, Hillis i still think can do well running the rock, but alot of that can happen with fullback options. Plus it adds versitility by allowing him to swing out in the passing game forcing the defense to keep eyes on our back field for the running game and passing out of the back field. if we use singleback with hillis too much, our offense will become a little more predicitable. with both greene and hillis back there it adds versitility to our O.

    4) Chris Baker - shows good size and ability to get to the QB. A grooming project here, but with the vet Kelly coming in hopefully that will speed up his developement

rounds 5-7 will be taking the best safeties and LB's on the board.

FA: 1) Chris Canty 4-5 year deal, what ever gets him here
    2) Darren Sharper ( the surprizes keep coming ) to a 3 year deal - a ball hawk of a safety

    Depth Chart :

    qb- cutler
hb - greene, ( after him the chart depends on the situation, with a strong camp torain moves to number 2)
    fb - hillis
    wr - marshall
    lt- clady
    lg - hamilton
    c - wagner/lichtenstien ( if wagner retires)
    rg - kuper
    rt - harris
    wr - royal
    te - graham, schefleur

    3-4 Hybrid defence

    LDE - canty
NT - Kelly, Baker or Powell
    RDE - thomas
LOLB - pass rusher/run support on the line - doom
SILB - Webster ( i dont like him, but can work on that next offseason)
WILB - Larson - let him prove his worth this season
ROLB - run support and coverage - DJ williams - might be a little small for this, but hey we dont have many other options
    CB- Champ
    CB- Jenkins
    FS - Sharper
    SS - Barrett

NEXT seasons priorities : Linebackers and Safeties

Now i am ready to get slammed for this Mock, but hey i was tired of seeing the same ideas and I thought, why not shake it up a little ?

    Have fun ripping into it
Thanks Shanahan for the 2 SB's, but its time to move on. With McDaniels I hope to see at least one more, bringing back solid, fundamental football to Denver.

Nothing wrong with shaking it up, but I swear to God if Nate Webster is starting on this team next year, I will seriously consider boycotting the season.

I would rather stay at #12 and grab Vontae Davis than trade up for Malcolm Jenkins. Jenkins is more polished, but Davis is more athletic and therefore has higher upside. Trading down and grabbing Alphonso Smith or D.J. Moore would also be okay. But I don't like trading up for a cornerback.

this is all about trying something different. denver's d was desperately lacking in playmakers and if Malcom is everything the hype around him is saying than he could quite possibly be our own home grown Champ, and if thats the case then he could anchor our secondary for along time to come. nothing helps a defense more than talking away the opposing teams best receiving threat. Especially if our O solidifies and continues to develope ball security and forces opposing teams into catch up situations

          You mean Casey Wiegmann:salute!:

Sharper isn't a ballhawk anymore he is just old.

Very weak at NT which is the key to a good 3-4 D.

I like Jenkins alot but I would never trade up to get him, not when we have such huge holes to fill on D.

well, drafting vontae at #12 or taking another cb besides jenkins would be different. i've seen many mocks with people giving jenkins to denver.

i think trading back and getting alphonso smith would be viable option. i love his playmaking ability. he just plays the ball so well. i dont much about vontae davis but if the values is there at 12 take it.

agreed, I have us taking davis if we find a NT in FA. He will be a star imo

If we had a pass rush in 2008 Bly might have made the pro bowl.

                      Yes Very .....

What I'm not bored with though is the information age and how discussing the draft and its player has went KAHBOOOM !!! Over the last two years.... fans of the sport can inform themselves of the players like never before....

I would much rather have Jenkins.

Davis is a measurable beast, but look closely. He is clueless in zone and is afraid to play in the run game.

You never know.... but I dont think so because its hard to cover up the fact that he cant tackle you,me are anyone else....

Honestly if we was on Joes vs Pro's and they said you have to run the ball at Bly you would have to like your chances....

I was merely being sarcastic. But I guarantee you that Bly would be a lot better if he had some help up front. His tackling also wouldn't be exposed as much if plays were made by the front 7 like they should be.
