  • WR class

Just curious with the 12th spot. If there aren't the defensive players we need, is there enough talent in the wr spot for this years draft class? Some one big and fast?I know we have marshall and royal but royal will be utelized wes welker style. And brandons good on the underneath routes and slants. But does denver go for another threat wideout especially considering the type of offense mcdaniels will plan to run. I dunno just wanted to see what you all thought. Also I was thinking boldin might not be with arizona next year and I wouldn't mind seeing him in orange and blue.

I love Boldin but he won't come cheap. They will definitely need more WR to run the 4 or 5 wide formations but I'm thinking they'll be more specialized types, like one to run the second slot and one to run the speedy deep routes. Better to find FAs to fill. It would make no sense to me to spend the top draft pick on a WR who wouldn't be the primary target anyway.

WR are very tricky to find in the draft the top 2 from last year were desean jackson and eddie royal, but so many scouts talked up james hardy, devin thomas and limas sweed like the coming of jesus.

this year there are some good recivers. Michael crabtree being the elite talent in the group. he wont make it past 6 at the latest though.

when i look at recievers i look for guys that can dominantly beat press and bump coverage, have speed, great hands and run great routes. the stronger you are and the better your routes are the better your chances of sepearting from db's as a rookie are.

crabtree has all the tools to be larry fitzgerald. heyward bey in my mind has the skil set of andre johnson. those 2 i think will have solid years next year.

my top 2 sleeprs though are brandon Gibson(3rd rd pick), and mike thomas(4th rd pick), both have great hands, and speed. bothe are strongly built for there size and have good stregth, and both do very well beating press and bump coverage. the wildcard that makes them my sleeper picks, is route running as both are absoluetly amazing route runners.

Kenny brit, brandon tate, and jarret dillard are also possible good pick-ups.....

      just my 2 cents

Oh yah I hear you on fitzy he makes the offense what it is. I'm sure boldin will be expensive but he runs great routes almost rod smith type routes. And I guess I was just thinking about calvin johnson. Big bodied wideout to come in and make a difference right away. That's what started this whole thing for me I think they even run they're i-formation with with 3 wideouts. So denever definetLy needs that extra threat. I honeslty don't feel that eddie should be our number two I mean he did great last year but had his problems as well. He'd replace stoke perfectly. Stoke man isint what he once was. We should keep him but I like the scenario of finding another big guy with good hands opposite of marshall royal in the third. I say this happens this year. I don't expect royal to be the number two... Although royal makes a good #2 when he runs his routes right.

Royal had 91 catches, 980 yards, a 93 yard TD reception, and around 65 ypg average. To think that he would be anything other than the #2 WR is ridiculous. Every receiver in the league gets shut down from time to time. Royal is no different.

No way should Denver go WR early in this draft. No way.

If they go offensive early in the draft, it should be for a RB or a center.

Agreed I don't think we should go wr in the draft I was wondering what would be available but agreed no wideout with first pick however.most of royals not all but most were long breaks or a route that worked to get him open. And stoke almost or had a 1000 as a 3 so don't get me wrong royal belongs in the game and he would be in there regardless since new england usually sends out 3 wideouts on offense anyway.I know what royal did this year and he did great but he's a good man for the first down (as long as he works on hands) I see nothing wrong with moving him to three and finding another threat. Then again maybe I'm wrong maybe he is a number 2 but his size and speed fits him into the slot in this offense.

Ramses Barden. Uncoverable at Cal Poly.

he sucks, he is slow, and doesnt do well against press coverage, he also was quite lazy on his routes during SB week. Cal poly is a little different that the NFL....keep in mind reciver is a high high bust position

when it comes to WR it doesnt matter what there Recieving stats were in college. if you run excellent routes and can beat press coverage consistently, and show consistent hands you will excel in the pros.

if you are lazy with your routes and focus, have okay hands, and are just a big body, you are in for a tough road

I don't really care to see us waste many resources (picks/money) on new receivers this year. We have a very good set of receivers right now.

The guy I would like to see us get (because I'm a Nebraska homer) is Nate Swift. He will be undrafted this year and I think he has all the makings to be the second comming of Stokley. Bringing him here would allow him to learn from Stokley and I could see him actually contributing in the future.

Even then though, I would expect Swift to be on the practice squad for a year or two as he learns the NFL. I really don't think we need any new receivers for next year.

Agreed. Royan CAN be a deep threat but with his size he has to be an excellent route runner and have great hands to be our deep threat wich he prolly will but someone who can run fast has good hands and runs great routes.... Boldin

I agree wr is not a position needing adressed but let's be honest mcdaniels is a passing game coach and he's gonna want more depth a wideout spot. Especially with the type of offense he runs

We have 5 receivers that where on the active roster last season. You can't get to many more than that. You can only place 53 total players on your roster.

The only receiver I can see him replacing is Chad Jackson. He didn't want him in New England so I'm not sure he is going to want him here. Other than that, he MAY go to a 6 receiver rotation.

Anyways, my real point is that I'm pretty sure we played more spread and passed more than New England.

LMAO at using a high pick on a WR, or even the thought of paying out a big contract for another WR.

That's as bad as the "TE with the first round pick" argument.

Wow I'm suprised at the reaction of the posts. I mean teams needs is one thing and what a coach wants is totaly different I'm just suprised that no one else agrees that mcdaniels will go after a deep threat wideout. Te in first is funny tho and I was curious as of to the talent in the 12 spot at the wr position I don't think I suggested taking a wideout. I want rey/cushing/curry. Maybe raji however I don't think raji is as good as people say. But yah if there are no defensive playmakers available I'd go runningback er trade my pick.

WR? No way. As someone already wrote, running back and center are our offensive needs.
