IMO Brace is a 3rd round talent that is now being considered a 2nd round pick due to the complete lack of size at the DT position this year. In other words, if Brace was part of next year draft he would be very unlikely he would make it into the 3rd round even.

I do not think we have so much talent on D that we can reach for a player just because there are limited options this year. We need to think long term, we need guys that we see starting for 6-8 years. We could draft Brace, but we would all be calling for an upgrade in a couple years anyways.

If we have a chance to get a Brown/Orakpo and Sintim/English/Barwin combo, I think we need to do that. We have been screaming for a pass rush forever and a day; and I think we have an opportunity to fix that problem this year.

If we can get pressure in the opponents backfield, we will be better. We may have to wait next year to find an elite NT (Wilfork may hit FA, or draft Cody or Suh).

Everything will not be solved in one year...take the BPA we can on defense for the front seven. That anyone would even think a player like Brace is a better talent than Sintim or English just amazes me.

You definetly are right. I think our best option in the offseason would be to find a guy that could come in and play NT via FA like Gabe Watson (worth giving up the estimated 4th for him). I think we should be looking for that long-term NT possibly next year when there are guys like Suh or Cody to man the NT for years to come. Hopefully we don't reach on guys simply because it's considered a huge need rather than getting BPA on the defensive side of the ball as long as it's not a CB, unless we trade Bly.

If we trade down and add up another 2nd rounder, I think you will see us grab a guy like Brace simply because it is a big need, but if we acquire Gabe Watson, I could see us passing on a NT in the draft until later and just using Watson and maybe a guy in the later rounds like Sammie Lee Hill.
