Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

I remember this question being posed this time last year and all the so-called dbff experts' shrill voices shouting "we dont need a FB" and (my fave) "Cecil Sapp is the answer" and other noise. And look what happened when we stole Peyton Hillis in 7, and how he elevated the O (and helped the D when he was starting.)
Im all in favor of signing another FB, be it in the late draft rounds or F/A. We need all the backfield help we can get, because our current crop, minus Hillis, are a bunch of glass-toed scrubs barely worthy of the college game, let alone the pros. If ever there was a time to start fresh, now is it.

I agree we need a top FB (not trying to stir any pot). just the fact that Larsen spent so much time at the position last year tells me need need a quality guy there.
I like Quinn Johnson & Tony Fiammetta myself, it would be nice to have either one lead blocking for Hillis in the redzone. Even Hillis' detractors have to admit the guy ran very well inside the 5 yard line (5 TDs in 4 games is getting it done).

The reason Larson spent so much time there is because Peyton Hillis was moved to RB due to the insane amount of RBs that went on IR. Since we're not planning for that to happen again this season Hillis should be moving back to FB, so we dont need to waste a draft pick on a FB.
no dis intended, but this sounds like last year when all the Sappheads said Cecil was "good enough" and "our FB, the man to block and catch," but in reality he was no better than the team's other mediocre holdovers. and to quote Mr Paige, in a pm sent to me right before the draft, "we dont need a FB. It is a dead position." Showed me what he knows; what an ignorant arse...
With Hillis' emergence, we need to bring in some fresh faces/bodies/skills/ at the tailback position, but draft one that's big enough (with Hillis' pass-catching skills) to swing to FB if needed if PH goes down--any suggestions, say in the middle rounds? Maybe a FA like Brandon J?
And while I like "cement hands" S Larsen, he needs to stay on the D as an LB, he's better suited there. I like my FB's in the Howard Griffith model, and PH is almost there. A swing backup wouldnt hurt at all :go:

I would however not prefer to spend a draft pick on a guy. If we are serious about rebuilding the defens,e we need every pick we can get to go to young gguys with high upside. I also dont know how much McD will use a FB in his offense, apart from goaline situations. Also, Micheal Pittman can potentially play some FB, and I would expect him to be back around in 09.

on the flip side if we did draft another good FB they could leave Hillis at RB where he did a great job. How often do the Patriots use the FB for anything? I think it might be the same way in Denver with the new scheme coming in. If they have Hillis on the team he would be best be utilized as a RB or H-back.
Hillis will be the starting fullback, he is a complete beast and likely the best all around fullback since Alstott. He is too good of a weapon to not be utilized and he will help the spread offense with his skills. Let alone I think with Larsen, we still have another fullback as well. Not sure Denver will nab another when we are pretty set at the position.
