I really wouldn't mind signing "BUST"er Davis to a cheap one year deal just to see if Nolan can do anything with him. Somebody will give him a shot you never know Change of scenery better coaching might do the trick. Right now anything is worth a shot? Nobody saw him being a bust last year.

      My free agent shoping list looks like this;

Qb; JP Losman- here is a guy that has been decent at times and is in desperate need of a new address. He has experience as a starter and would serve us well as insurance to Jay Cutler

RB; Darren Sproles- He comes in as a compliment to either Hillis or Torain. He is a premier 3rd down back and gives us one of the premier kick returners in the league

Wr; If we go here in free agency it wil be for a slot guy as insurance to stokely so we can keep Royal on the outside. Somebody like a Shaun McDonald or Dane Looker

OL; Mike Goff- With him on board it would protect us in the middle with Hamilton and Wiegman both up there in age. Plus it would weaken a division rival as a bonus

DL; Chris Canty- He is the perfect fit for us to come in and play end in the 3-4 defense

Gabe Watson- give up the 4th rd pick for this mamoth and let him anchor the nose tackle position. He is greater then any DT we would get at that point in the draft and has a few years under his belt

LB; Bart Scott- this solidifies our middle linebacker spot along with dj and brings experience in the 3-4 defense with him. I would love to have Ray Lewis but I relly dont see him leaving at the end of the day. His Leadership would bring instant cred to the d.

Willie Mcginest- Signed to no longer then a 2 year deal,, This guy can still play. Aside from that he can come in and help teach techniques to our young olb corps whether it be the ones currently on the roster that cold stay in that role like Moss Doom and Crowder or the ones we draft this year

S; Sean Jones- Brings instant cred to our secondary and he is entering the prime of his career. Other then Brian Dawkins the best saftey available. The common thead amongst the final 4 this year was they all have a stud saftey and while Jones isnt there yet he has the best chance to get there out of this seasons free agents and draft picks

K; Mike Nugent- I for one am not sold on Prater. His kickoffs were weak and he surley didnt inspire confidence when he was lining up for a kick. This guy is young talented and would create a great competiton between the two in camp. May the best man win

That is 9-10 fre agents with most coming on the defensive side and lots of experience in the 3-4. Add in the 7 or 8 draft picks we have and that is a turnover of about 1/3 of the roster which is about the league average when a new coach comes to town. Not to mention the need to switch alot of personal on d as we transition to the 3-4

Your list looks good and thought out.

It seems we agree, that Darren Sproles and Mike Goff should not be passed up. Just weird they´re both from the Chargers, eh? Of the two Mike Goff is the "Duh" guy, if he isn´t chosen. The Faneca of this year, and he did allright.

You´re two defensive line picks I disagree with, granted that they are monsters. I prefer short and stout, you know fat in the gutt and butt. Like I said of the list I would choose La´Roi Butler. And even him, being a veteran, I would ask to fatten up a bit.

The linebackers McGinest and Scott, wow. I see the appeal.

Sean Jones, looks good. Not great, though, huh?

And kicker, don´t ask me. I´m a dork and of the opinion, I´d rather not kick at all.

Speaking of Seans, check out the guy in my sig for today. Sean Smith, cornerback from the Utah Utes. 6 foot 3 inches, 214 lbs. Looks to be the physical type I´m envisioning for the future of the NFL.
With Darren Sharper, from the Minnesota Vikings, at 6 foot 2 inches, 210lbs., we would have a feasome duo.
Sean Smith is projected for the late first round. I would pick him up in the second round. And the designation is cornerback not safety!

I´m probably in a minority here, but I think Champ Bailey should retire a Bronco. The only way he can do that is to quit, or to prolong his career at safety, where he can take a more measured approach. He was an all arounder in college, he can make the switch, and add three more respectable years to his career. The hof also loves that kind of dedication.

          George Wilson UFA Buffalo Bills

          In a nutshell:
J.T. O'Sullivan (Quality back-up with starters expierience, cheap)
Heath Evans (I feel Hillis will start at RB, we need a true FB)
Darren Sproles (I would love to steal this guy away from the Dolts, a nice change of pace to Hillis)
Brandon Jones (If we do sign a WR, I want this guy)
Mike Nugent (Prater is not the answer, I want a guy who will kick at least 85%)
Russ Hochstein (Knows McDaniels system, should be an affordable starter)
Chris Canty (Will want decent money, will start at DE in our 3-4)
Mike Wright (Quality D-line depth, possible starter at DE)
James Sanders (Another NE guy, he can be a starter or provide quality depth)
Dunta Robinson (Move Dre to nickel where he belongs, and start Robinson and Champ)

This seems like alot, but only Robinson, Sproles, and Canty will demand high dollar deals, the rest will come cheap!

The only Linebackers that really blow my skirt up are Dansby, Suggs, and Scott and I don't see them going anywhere.

If we sign these guys we can focus our attention in the draft to NT, LB, and another Safety!

Guys like Raji, Brace, Curry, Orakpo, Brown, Delmas, Moore, Johnson, and Sean Smith come to mind of who would be nice with our 1st 2 picks!

James Sanders UFA New England Patriots
                    George Wilson UFA Buffalo Bills

                    So that´s:

QB Rex Grossman (way better than most people think-stand and deliver guy)
RB Kevin Jones (waiting to happen)
RB Darren Sproles (impossible to pass up)
FB Carey Davis (any fullback from Pittsburgh...)
FB Kyle Eckel (probably the only guy I would want from New England-physique wise perfectly proportioned for a fullback)
WR Sam Hurd (tall and tough)
WR Miles Austin (why wasn´t he used more last year?)
G Mike Goff (EXCLAMATION!!! Why he is even available?)
OT Mike Runyan (huge tough guy from the almost NFC champion Eagles)
DL La´Roi Glover (veteran-looks tremendously strong)
ILB Buster Davis (mighty mite and Florida State defense always interesting)
ILB John DiGiorgio (Italo-American, proven hard nosed competitor)
CB Darren Sharper (6´2" scrappy former pro bowl shoo in...move Champ Bailey to safety-his virtual pasture)
Besides the picks being bad for the most part such as Darren Sharper who is 34, the biggest problem I have with this list is the number of RFA on it. There are 5 restricted FA, 2 RB, 2 LB, and a WR. How many picks are you willing to give up for for players who won't start or even make the team?

J.P. Losman: Hate his attitude, would rather go with a guy like Ryan Fitzpatrick or a late draft pick (cheaper)

                      FB:
Heath Evans: FBs are not that expensive, would prefer a younger Leonard Weaver, but Evans would be a solid alternate.

                      RB:
                      Maurice Morris
                      Fred Jackson (RFA)
                      Derrick Ward

***None worth the money, just draft a guy in round 4 or 5 to compete with Torain and Hillis for carries***

                      WR:
Brandon Jones: My pick and a top 5 target for FA
                      Nate Washington: Good alternative
                      Jabar Gaffney
                      Michael Clayton

                      TE:
                      No, thanks.

                      OL:
In the draft: I could see signing Cooper Carlisle for some depth at G.

                      DL:
Gabe Watson (RFA): One of my top 5 targets if tendered for a 4th
                      Jovan Haye
                      Mike Wright: If Cheap
                      Ronald Fields

***Alton Mongomery is a top 5 target of mine. 6'6 315lb would be a very good LDE IMO. Worth an offer sheet if tendered at a 5th. ***

                      LB:
                      Channing Crowder
                      Bart Scott
                      Terrell Suggs

                      CB:
                      Jabari Greer
                      Bryant McFadden

***I would prefer Ronald Bartell, but all are too expensive for my taste***

                      Safety:
                      OJ Atogwe
                      Sean Jones: #1 FA target
Jermaine Phillips: if no Sean Jones, than priority signing for me
                      Yeremiah Bell
James Sanders: If cheap Good signing

That's just my abbreviated list of who I'd like to see us at least make an attempt to go after.
                      Decent list

                      R Ayers - B Cofield - A Haynesworth - CJ ohnson
                      J Anderson - J Beason - DJ Williams
                      R Bailey - P Amukamara - R Hill - A Goodman
