  • Rey Maualuga! Broncos, dont mess this up!!!!Please!!!!

If anyone not on the west coast has not heard of or seen this guy play, he is the next hall of fame linebacker. he should be available to the Broncos at the 12 spot. If he is there, they need to draft him because he is going to be one of the most feared if the nfl for years to come...Here is a video I found...

I honestly don't care for him.

I think DJ/Larsen + Woodyard can handle the middle just fine...

This team has more pressing needs than another ILB to spend cash on.

Really? you expect us to run a 3-4 with one starting quality LB.......

You realize D.J. Williams is going to be one starting LB and Spencer Larsen will be the other. Larsen has all the physical and mental intangibles to be an ILB in a 3-4. We also have Woodyard, who could probably do alright in D.J.'s roll if he shifted to Larsen's spot for a rotation.

Team's don't spend fortunes on ILB's. We've got a ton of $ invested in D.J. and we aren't going to do it again for a 1st rounder. Rey isn't a possibility unless we make him an OLB... and that's not going to happen.

I would much rather have Brian Orakpo or Everette Brown than Maualuga. The key to the 3-4 is pass rush. And to be honest we dont have any.Unless you say you believe Dumervil and Moss can successfully transition from DE to OLB. Which Im not sure they can.

So I say persure Channing Crowder if he becomes available, if not there are still some qaility 3-4 ILB in this draft in the later rounds.

Rey's biggest issue is relying too much on his athletic ability and not playing with his brain. I think he could be similar to a Merriman if we played him at the Elephant spot in a 3-4. There should be a lot of quality options at spot 12. Hopefully we get Raji, Rey, or Cush.

The guy is a beast...the reason I want him is that he will hype up the defense. Trash talking other players while backing it up with his play would be killer to a teams morale...our other guy who trash talks (Woodyard) is a Beast too though I don't know what we will do with him...some are saying to put him in at safety.

Merriman? I guess you have only watched highlights of Rey on youtube huh? Rey has no where near the pass rush ability of Merriman and it will never be at Merrimans level.

As for Cushing the man is a walking injury. Have you seen his injury report over the past 4 years?

Had a sprained wrist during spring 2008 camp. Had arthroscopic surgery on his ankle prior to 2008 spring practice. Missed three games in 2007 because of a sprained left ankle. Missed most of spring of 2007 because of a hamstring strain. Had arthroscopic knee surgery following '07 camp. Missed five games in 2005 due to a dislocated shoulder, which required surgery.

Thats just in 4 years. Also to there were reports around the Senior Bowl saying that Cushing spends thousands of dollars a month on nutritional supplements. While there was no one claiming Cushing’s supplements should be confused with illegal steroids, it does raise questions about how maxed out Cushing may already be.

And thats not something I want to hear from a "top 10" LB.

I'd like to have DJ stay outside so I'd be fine with us getting Rey and sticking him in the middle paired with Larsen. But our defenise line, especially at nose tackle, is a very pressing need right now, maybe Moss can show some promise as a linebacker/ DE hybrid, its a possibility in him and Dumerville at least.
Being a Bronco fan is more important than being a fan of any coach or player in particular.

                        Troy Polamalu Draft profile

BIO: Three-year starter. Saw ex10sive action at safety and linebacker as a true freshman. All-Conference selection last year posting 68 tackles, one interception and four pass defenses, also accumulating 12 tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Suffered with an ankle sprain all last season. Totaled 118 tackles with three INTs as a junior, garnering All-America and All-Conference honors. Posted 83 tackles and two INTs as a true sophomore when he initially broke into the starting lineup. Tremendous special teams player who has blocked punts in the past. Recently ran a 4.35 during individual workouts.

POSITIVES: Hard hitting, intimidating safety who likes to mix it up. Flies around the football, displays a closing burst of speed on his way to the action and sacrifices his body to stop the ball carrier. Plays sideline-to-sideline, tough and mentally alert on the field. Works well with cornerbacks, improved his cover skills as a senior and does a solid job manning center field. Fluid in his hips and displays a good back pedal as well as sound cover fundamentals if placed over the slot receiver. Tough and plays with or through pain.

NEGATIVES: Hesitant to react at times and does not always display a decisive move on the ball. Lacks the great recovery speed and better off in a short field.

ANALYSIS: True leader of a defense whose development and productivity as a senior was stunted by injury. Sized to play either safety position and has the mentality to be a killer on special teams. Could be starting late into his rookie season.

                        PROJECTION: Late First Round

Here is Rey Maualuga draft profile, couldnt get the text in here

Those 2 draft profiles sound very similar, its scary to think they got the same thoughts bout them bc look what troy has done. Granted Troy is a saftey but if we get Rey and get that play at ILB I will be happy.

I will say I was higer on Rey before he decided to skip the combine, that scares me that hes hidding something.

If hes not there...Id be more than happy with Orakpo.

If they can get Peppers via Free Agency, then draft Orakpo, that would be awesome! But Maualuga is a beast. I live out here and have seen him play many times. He is a Ray Lewis, but more athletic and faster type hitter who is looking to kill with every hit.

DJ Williams is good, but Larsen is not even close to being that good. He had one good game against Atlanta and then disappeared the rest of the season. Woodyard is not a 3-4 LB by any means.

You sure you wanna see this defense with one decent LB again? San Francisco has arguably the best LB in the NFL with Patrick Willis yet they were 27th in Run Defense this season. Good run defense is made with many good linebackers or a DOMINANT defensive line.

Actually I've seen all of Rey's games. I'm a huge USC fan so obviously I'll be biased towards him. How many times have you actually seen his games? He's a MIKE backer that usually had to take the center or guard straight on when he blitzes. Without seeing him on the outside how do you know what kind of pass rusher he could be? Will he be as good as Merriman on the outside.. prob not (other than Ware few are) but I think thats where he has the greatest potential.

Cush has been banged up quite a bit but his leadership, versatility, and playmaking ability are unquestionable. While he has been hurt a lot (he had a broken hand for 4-5 games this season, just played with a cast) he doesn't miss a lot of games. The 07' injury wasn't his fault.. a cheap block by an Idaho defender that would have taken anyone out. I could see not taking him at 12 but if we trade down to the late teens or early 20's he'd be a great selection.
