  • Militants Mock Bronco Offseason

Objective: Become a more physically dominant team. Add some strength and athleticism along the Defensive line and Secondary. Opposing teams shouldnt expect a big day against us. I want to be one of those teams defensively that makes you hate to play us.

    Free Agency

-Sign Cornerback Bryant McFadden of the Pittsburgh Steelers
-Sign Defensive End Shaun Cody of the Lions
    - Sign Defensive End Igor Olshansky of the Chargers
    - Sign Defensive Tackle Gabe Watson of the Arizona Cardinals (3rd Round Tender)
-Sign Safety Mike Brown of the Chicago Bears
-Sign Wide Receiver Ashley Lelie of the Oakland Raiders
-Sign KR/CB Justin Miller of the Oakland Raiders
-Trade Elvis Dumervill to the Houston Texans for 3rd Round Pick

    Analysis

Broncos address needs along the defensive line acquiring 3 guys under age 26 that can either start or be a major part of a 3-4 defensive line rotation. Bryant McFadden brings toughness and Championship experience to the cornerback position. Mike Brown, when healthy brings a playmaking dynamic that has never been seen at the Safety position in Denver. The big question is health. I think a change of scenery could revitalize his career. Ashley Lelie makes his return to the Mile High City. Mike Shannahan is gone, the goodmans are gone, sundquist is gone and he fills the need of a deep threat. Think in terms of him being our Jabar Gaffney type player that was featured in McDaniels New England teams. Justin Miller, we tried to claim him during the season, and just missed out. He provides special ability as a Kick Returner.

    Draft

    1st Round - Knowshown Moreno - RB - Georgia
    2nd Round - William Moore - S - Missouri
3rd Round - Dominique Johnson - CB - Jackson St.
    4th Round - Jasper Brinkley - ILB - S. Carolina
5th Round - Sammie Lee Hill - DT - Stillman
    5th Round - Philip Hunt - OLB - Houston
6th Round - Victor Butler - OLB - Oregon St.
    7th Round - Dominique Edison - WR - Stephen F. Austin

Undrafted Free Agents - OL positions

Not bad...you actually have a whole lot of the free agents I think Denver will sign in free agency, give Watson...I would like to get him, but I think he stays in Arizona.

McFadden, Cody and Olshansky are on my off-season as well. But I have Denver signing James Sanders, Abram Elam, Ronald Fields and Drew Carter, even re-signing Paymah.

Moreno is a big possibility and a good pick, I could see Moore being taken in the second if we do not fill the position. But I think Denver will at this point, if not I agree with the pick. Denver will not take a corner in the third round when they need linebackers and the corner position is pretty well covered, so I disagree with that pick. Look for Hill to be a 4th round pick, but I have Denver taking him as well, great addition IMHO. Not sold on Brinkley, so I would pass on him...Hunt is a good linebacker, but I would not draft Butler...Edison? Not a bad pick, bit of a sleeper, could be a good addition.

Overall, I give it a B+...not bad at all DB...

In my opinion, a RB in the first is not a good idea. There are just too many holes in our defense to not address them in the draft for a long term solution.

        But that's my opinion. :salute!:

When are people going to learn that Denver is not going to pick a Rb first round. Just think about that everyone knows how bad Denver Defense is. Just think of all the crap DEnver is gonna have to face if we go offense first when it was ranked 2nd. And our Defense was ranked somewhere around 28th. Josh will be given soo much crap for it plus with all the defenders he released he needs to full about 6-8 players on that D roster

I'm sorry, but why do we want Ashley Lelie? You mentioned him as a deep threat. Did you forget we have Eddie Royal on our team? We don't need a deep threat. Jay Cutler's got a rocket arm and we have two top receivers who can cath the ball deep not to mention all his other weapons that can get open because we have great receivers (Sheffler, Stokley, Graham...).

I semi-agree with you on the WR in the 7th round, but I think the pick should go towards defense. I'm also against getting a runningback in the first round because if you give us a good running back, that's just an accessory to the offense and probably doesn't win us anymore games. If you take a defensive leader and playmaker in the first round, that helps are team way more than stacking our offense further and does help us win more games. :hammer:

Well, I know that i just posted saying that I don't want a RB in the first, but if the defensive players that we want are gone we could either go for a RB or trade our first away for a later pick and a second.

I am sure McDaniel's is having cold sweats over what the fandom wants and over what the league thinks...just like Kubiak taking Mario Williams with the first pick! Remember that, now everyone is praising him...ignorance is bliss.

Denver could well take a tailback in the first, some fans will just have to get a grip and deal with it if it happens. If not, so be it...but there is a possibility, no matter what the fans think.

Yea he went defense before a Rb, we should listen to Kubiak. Plus its not like his team was one sided like ours is. we got a good offense and a horrible defense. He had two equally sides. nothing special on either sides/

No there is a ton of good defenders we could get before we pick running back. Raji, Curry, Rey , laurinaitis, Cushin. all five of these guys will not be gone by the 12th pick.

My logic for the Moreno pick is value. With the 12th pick i dont want to take a guy that if we dont take him could fall all the way to 33rd pick. Obviously that is a drastic example but in terms of value thats the way i see it. If Orakpo or Raji falls to twelve its a no brainer that you take him. But when you get into debates about the cushings, jacksons, and maybins they dont have the number 12 pick value. I wouldnt take those type of guys just because we have a need. Draft the best player available.

Carolina picked 2 running backs in the first round within 2 years of each other. They turned out quite ok.

Yup. Denver will pick one of these guys, I guarantee it.

                          Hellooo?

Raji and Curry are top ten graded picks as is Moreno in many eyes, Maualuga is currently a top fifteen graded pick and Laurinaitis and Cushing are top twenty. How in the sam hell do you think a top twenty graded athlete is worth more at the 12th pick then a top ten or fifteen come the draft?

oh so if the next brian urlacher is on the board but people say his value dropped to 22... dont take him???ohh okay lets get a bust instead like beanie wells just because his stock is higher.. if you think this guy is going to be big but people find his stock dropping you dont listen to those guys. You pick the best player you think in the first.

It works both ways. And i dont see Brian Urlacher in this draft. The same logic you are using is the reason why we took Ashley Lelie isntead of Ed Reed. If we would have taken the best player instead of forcing a square peg into a circle our defense would be a lot better than it is now. And that was with the 19th pick. So why would we not take BPA with the 12th pick.
