Hey, I said the pick is likely Moreno at this time...it could all change, and he is not my favorite back of the draft. He is the best of the draft, the best of them who fits the spread and is a high character quality kid. There is a lot to like about him. And on another note, I do understand we need to improve defensively and what everyone is trying to say, even if it comes out illogical and they don't see that halfback is a real possibility.

As I stated I would do it differently then likely how McDaniels and Xanders will, but it is the Denver Broncos...not the Lancance Broncos!
Free agency is going to change everything...There is also all the pro days to worry about, and I am not so sure the 40 times at the combine were all that accurate. Coaches tend to trust their own times more.

I agree though that there would not be anything wrong with drafting a good kid like Moreno. I do not think he is a franchise back, but as a multipurpose back he has value.

most fans want a franchise back, just because we feel moreno isnt it doesnt mean we are blinded to the fact that a RB that is franchise caliber could do wonders for this team.....but as far as a first rd pick, what about forte, kevin smith, and steve slaton??? heck rey freaking rice showed more than last years first rd picks).....none of them mentioned were first rd backs.....in fact they all had question marks as well.....but the backs taken in the first outside of chris johnson didnt fare well at all....and johnson isnt even a franchise back as he splits carries with lendale white every game......

so its not that people dont want a RB, we just want to make sure the most important part of this teams failures(DEFENSE) get looked at before we take a first rd pick on a RB position that has a higher bust rate in the first rd the last couple years than in the later rds.....

Ok, here is the problem. I think most fans want a stud back. The problem is do you think this years draft class has stud backs in it? To be honest I'm not really high on many of them. I like 3 to a so-so degree but I wouldn't use a 12th pick on any of them and I watched Beanie all year long. Do I think they are first rounds? Maybe not all of them but Wells and Moreno are just not at 12. Green I think is late 2nd -3rd.

I would have been more willing last year to grab one of the backs in that class then any of the ones in this years. If we use the 12th on a RB this year I think it will set the stage for our team the rest of the season. I just hope it will be for the best.

God I love all the speculation this time of year and not knowing what will happen.

Good read on Drafting Running Backs

It was a belief that Mike Shanahan and the Broncos could turn anyone into a 1,000-yard rusher. Perhaps the wrong people bought into that a bit too much!

Not sure if anyone has posted or seen this article but I found it very interesting. Before reading this article I didn't feel we needed to draft a RB in the first 3 rounds. I may have changed my mind....I mean I thought our Offense and Defense looked much better when Hillis was playing well. We were balanced and pounded out long scoring drives that helped keep our D on the sidelines. Maybe Hillis is the answer (but what if he isn't) makes you wonder about what it would be like lining up a Moreno or Wells behind Cutler. I think our Defense has way to many holes to justify picking either but I don't know that I want to gamble on what we have and another 6th rounder. :go:
