Signing Ray Lewis changes our team culture COMPLETELY in one season. We get a NATURAL leader who's intense and will not tolerate anyone playing less than 100%. And Cutler is relieved of his faux leadership role....

BY ALL MEANS... SIGN RAY LEWIS.

We have 40 mil under the cap... does it matter? Not like I will see a $$$ of it. Long as the Broncos improve it doesn't matter IMO

all i see from anything anyone posted that he brings to the team is leadership and intensity.

              lets pay and aging linebacker....
              with diminishing skills...
              recent injuries....
a speckled history with the law...

IF he's a Bronco i will be fine with it... but thats too many red flags for me to be like OMG sign this guy today.... maybe in a few monthes when he realizes he isn't the top LB available and the price is more reasonable.
He's still Tim Tebow... and you're NOT!
But Peyton Manning will win a Super Bowl.

This defense hasnt been the same since Al Wilson left. Why? Because we dont have that fierce and fiery leader in the middle of our d that makes everyone else step their game up. I understand the money thing but, if he can make everyone around him better then why not? IMO if we could get him to drop his $$$ a little bit then we should definately pick this guy up. No linebacker in this FA class or draft class for that matter can come in right away, be a no nonsense type of guy and get in the faces of guys like Marcus Thomas and Jarvis Moss telling them how they need to play 100% and get their responsibilities on D picked up. Im on the RAY RAY bandwagon officially as of now. :go:

But he is the top LB available, especially now that Bart Scott has been signed. He would not bring only leadership and intensity, but improved play. He's still one of the best LB's in the league. Let's not break the bank for him, I agree, but he should be a target.

thats not all true. Vilma LEFT NYJ because he didnt like where the Jets were going. even during the time when the jets were in a 3-4 he still had about 110 tackles, which means he is still effective in a 3-4. he is probably BETTER in a 4-3 but we have the tools around him with DJ and Champ, Doom and our other LBs that we will get, that the pressure will be off and he can just play ball, whereas in NY the pressure was on him, he was the man. now he has DJ (who he played with at The U)

Ya know i got an idea...

                          1) resign Nate Webster to a 1 yr deal
                          2) draft some young LBs in this draft that can adjust to a 3-4
                          3) next year in free agency go after Demeco Ryans

                          it could work

I completely agree that our Defense hasn't been the same since Al Wilson got hurt. He was a Warrior and brought a nasty attitude.

As far as Ray Lewis , he will bring the Nasty attitude and probably has 2-3 good years. Baltimore which knows him best offered him a 3 year $26 million contract. So they obviously think he can make through 3 years.

Bowlen will also consider how much Money Ray Lewis will generate in Ticket Sales and merchandise. Guess what I might go out and buy a Ray Lewis Bronco Jersey!!!

So there are plussess and minuses but it could be good

I would like the hiring of Ray Lewis. As everyone says he's a good leader and still has a few years left. I say we draft a young ILB like Rey Maualuga (sp?) who has the potential to be a great leader and have Ray take him under his wing. Many of you complained Maualuga had gotten lazy, and his hammy injury completely decimated his stock blah blah. Who better to get Rey back in shape and help mold him into a great Linebacker than Ray Lewis? Just saying, it would be a great investment for not just a current need, but for the future. That 10 mil a year could go a LOOOOONG way.

                              You're going down.

                                FROM NATIONAL FOOTBALL POST

                                Breaking: Ray Lewis Update

I just got off the phone with some trusted sources very close to the situation in Baltimore and here is what I found out. Apparently, Ray Lewis asked the Ravens for a lucrative amount of money over the next three years that Baltimore simply cannot afford.

The Ravens want Lewis back, but cannot afford his price and are currently concerned that they will use most of their cash by the time Lewis realizes he is pricing himself out of the market.

However, Baltimore appears to be very interested in bringing Lewis back and is working very hard to get a deal done.

The National Football Post will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated as the story develops.
