could you imagine the face of opposing defenses when they see Marshall (6'4), Clayton (6'4), Royal lined up in the Welker/slot role, and Tony Scheffler

I do not mind either, but I prefer Gaffney because of his familiarity with McD's system.

Did you expect us not to address them at all and just go into the season hurting at RB and WR depth again?

The fact we are leaning so heavily on offense early means we won't have to use hardly any picks on the offensive side of the ball come draft time. I'd much rather us draft defensive then sign a bunch of high priced overrated FA's. :go:
I think that's mostly the Moreno fanboy club doing that. It's become obvious with the signings of two RB's (along with them supposedly offering Ward), that Denver is not going to draft their mancrush, and they obviously do not like it.

In McDaniels offense, being the #2 is basically being the slot. Look at Welker, he's been the slot the past 2 years and flourished. Now, undoubtedly we will put Royal on the outside and hope to drop a couple bombs downfield, but more than likely, Royal, with his great route-running and quickness will be a ball-catching machine underneath and using his elusiveness similar to Welker. Our offense (in terms of personnel) actually compares very similarly to the makeup of the Patriots.

If we get cheap again we're just going to put ourselves in the same position. If we added Mike Wright, Ronald Fields, Bartell, Sean Jones, James Sanders we would instantly be better on D. They are all going to fit very easily under our cap, and are all instant starters. I just can't see how we are putting an emphasis on our offense right now, when we are arguably 2 pieces away from dominance (#2 WR, RB) and about 8 pieces away on defense while we are transitioning to a new scheme. Hopefully there are offers on the table to some of those guys we all want, it just hasn't been reported yet because they are under the radar. But the Renaldo Hill visit has me worried, he has relatively nice stats, but he's simply not the player that Sean Jones is.

    gaffney is solid.

he would be a good pickup and i'm sure would lend a lot to the offenses' transition, particularly with the wideouts.

we also have a meeting with michael clayton set up, i really want him, hopefully would impove our red zone efficiency... tough to match up against 2 6'4 WR's, 2 good tightends, and hillis as a threat to run/recieve out of the backfield...

I like this and it should not come as a surprise that MCD would want to hand pick a couple new wr to run his system .....

If MCD wants Gaffney then he has enough of what it takes to contribute to the team ......on the field and in the LR
