They have also offered a contract to NT Ronald Fields

and Michael Clayton (WR), Jabar Gaffeny (WR), Renaldo Hill (FS) and Ron Bartell (CB) all have visits scheduled for ealry this week

    exciting time in bronco land:salute!:

Our RB's last year couldnt stay healthy, and i expect alot of them to be gone by seasons start. So the Arrington and Buck interest is in depth and change of pace, not looking for an instant start but a contributor

Our WR corp is VERY weak after the number 3. I mean its not even funny, Clayton and Gaffeny are probably going to be cheap depth guys.

Renaldo Hill ---- thinking about our safeties last year still makes me sick
    '
'Bartell --- no real thought required as to why they want him

I think will all the cuts that were made a week or two ago the Big Brass is looking to solidfy the offense while still looking at the defensive pieces. The FA market this year seems to be one of depth and building, not looking for a quick fix on a team that needs to find 7 or so starters

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels reached out to his former Patriots wide receiver Jabar Gaffney, who is scheduled to be in Denver on Friday.

The Broncos also pursued Giants free agent running back Derrick Ward, who has received interest from Denver, the Buccaneers, Rams, Bengals and Lions.

While McDaniels reached out to one of his former players, Broncos defensive coordinator Mike Nolan did the same. Denver attempted to arrange a visit this weekend with San Francisco’s free-agent defensive tackle Ronnie Fields. St. Louis attempted to do the same.

I don't see us getting any big names, especially not Ray Lewis, after what Xanders said about no one player being more important than the team. I see a mediocre Free Agency coming and, hopefully, an exciting draft, if you can have one of those this year.

And why is everyone getting all excited about Shaun Rodgers? He's still under contract with the Browns, and he can't go anywhere unless they let him. This is like the Chad Johnson thing last year. No need to get excited about it, he's probably staying in Cleveland.

I think Gaffney and Arrington would be good editions to the offense. Which leads me to believe that we'll be drafting all defense, at least for the first few rounds.

As far as Buckhalter being old goes; you know McDaniels comes from the Patriots, right? They're famous for signing old guys to short-term contracts, just to see what they can get out of them in their remaining years.

But, if they sign him, that's at least a start. A big start (assuming he can at least be adequate).

I'm not convinced that Michael Clayton will suddenly resurrect his career after several years of nothing since his rookie year. Remember that Ashlie Lelie looked good his first year, but has done nothing since for 3 different teams. That reminds me of the kind of Mike Shanahan "reclamation project" that never worked with players like the Browncos, Chad Jackson, or former Bears #1 draft pick WR David Terrell.

I'm glad to see the Broncos will be active, even if they're not seeking top tier FAs. With some decent coaching the defense should be improved this season. Not great, but improved.

No Albert Haynesworth or Shaun Rogers, but some solid players who won't cost too much.

From the EXTREMELY little I know about Fields...

it at least appears he is a guy who has been slowly improving over the years to the point where he has some starting experience; which makes sense if he was a 5th round pick.

The guy is 27..who knows...like you said its a start.

    I thought we fired Shanahan?

Buckhalter and Arrington?? really?? I get what Josh is trying to do here by implementing that New England running back by committee style, but Arrington is a good number 3/return guy at best and Buckhalter has no knee left and is 30. This is a waste of money. If you're going to sign mediocre backs, at least get some youth in your life. What a disappointment on the opening day of free agency.

Well I would hope that Nolan has an Inside scoop on this guy is the reasoning behind this since both are from the 49ers? Just saying i agree but I would like to believe he sees something that maybe others don't.

The start of FA is kinda like Xmas to me. You go to bed and are eager to wake up and see who has been rumored to be coming to your team. Looks like all Santa brought so far this year is coal LOL. We need to start looking at some of the more attractive FA ( Sean Jones, Chris Canty,Ray Ray?) and stop messing around with these small time guys (Buckhalter,Fields,Gaffney). Im sure McD has something up his sleeve he will pull out sometime this weekend. Until I can only hope none of the more attractive names get signed.
