  • Peria Jerry at 18???

Peria Jerry - at 6'2" 299lbs could easily add 10-15lbs to his frame. Bj Raji 6'2" also. He is the #2 Rated DT and actually reminds me alot of former Miami Hurricane Vince Wilfork who is 6'1" 323lbs.

Peria Jerry was selected Defensive Player of the week 4 times in 2008. He looked like the best player on Defense at The Senior Bowl.

If Denver misses out on Bj Raji , I would be happy to select Jerry at 18. Mel Kiper has him going 27th to Indy.

    Denver could draft.

    1st(12)-------------------Rey Maualuga--------ILB - USC
    1st(18)-------------------Peria Jerry-----------NT - Ole Miss
    2nd-----------------------Lawerence Sidbury--OLB-Richmond
    3rd-----------------------Fili Moala------------DE - USC
    3rd-----------------------Louis Murphy---------WR---Florida
    4th-----------------------Brandon Hughes------CB---Oregon St.

Does anyone else think he would be a good pick at 18 for NT if we miss out on BJ Raji. I think he is a better player than Brace just not as big. 1 inch shorter and 29lbs lighter!!!

he needs to put on more weight to be an effective NT. All of the playoff contenting teams have NT that are at least 325.

      NE - Wilfork - 325
      BAL - Ngata - 345
      CLE - Rogers - 350
      NYJ - Jenkins - 349
      SD - Williams - 348
      PIT - Hampton - 325

Well OK. Dallas does not have a really big guy, maybe that's why they always lose?

        Dl

Looking at some highlights at DL guys, and to me Jerry and Hood both looked like dominant players. Don't know if Hood could change to DE and Jerry to NG as pros and succeed. But in the right situation each of these guys will make plays.

I don't know what to expect from the D this year, with some talk of a hybrid system as we change to a 3-4, I think Jerry could see significant playing time and make a name for himself as a rookie.

DE Jackson of LSU is soft and Hood would put him on the bench in pre-season, even changing positions.

Personally i dont think he would be a good pick for us. He doesnt have the ideal height you look for in a 3-4 end, and doesnt have the weight to play Nose.

Yeah he could gain 10-15 lbs, but he already has knee issues so i dont think that would be a good idea.

He is a very solid pro prospect as a penetrating tackle in a 4-3

But is he a 2 Gap player? Can he stuff the run as well as the big NT should? I thought he was more of a Marcus Tomas type player but just a little better?

He's a great player though and maybe a look at #18 pick could be a steal.

He would be 3-4 DE. He has 2 negative points: advanced age (25 years old) and does not seem to be very smart. But he is a beast on the field, good linemen struggle a lot to block him one on one.

he didnt get hurt junior and senior year, hurt his foot and played 8 games sophmore year, and missed 5 games freshman year

                    no injuries in last 2 years=no problem:thumb:

4 time SEC defensive player of the week though. Everyone w/ their height and weight BS looking at he combine #s and not what they did on the field is a problem imo

I am a huge Miami Hurricane fan and watched Vince Wilfork play. Peria Jerry is slightly taller but about 25lbs lighter. Jerry reminds me alot of Wilfork and I think he can be a great NT if asked too.

He had arthroscopic knee surgery at the beginning of the year, but only missed one game. Thats not a huge deal, but if he added 15lbs like the OP suggested then i would be worried about his knee's holding up.

I think Jerry is going to be a very effective player in the NFL, but not in a 3-4

                            Jerry

I would like him 18, he is big and athletic, he can move for a big guy.

He will be 25 this year.

He is a UT or a RDE period.

                              Ill pass.
