Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

Elvis Dumervil > Larry English Dumervil has as much chance as English in thriving at OLB.
My choice at OLB
1. Clay Matthews - Played LB , can cover a RB or TE and was 2nd in Sacks at USC.
2. Connor Barwin - Played DE but is much faster than English and played TE so he will know what kind of routes RB/TE's are going to run. Upside is TREMENDOUS for 2nd Round Player.
3. Lawerence Sidbury - 2nd/3rd Round Prospect who is bigger than English , faster and just as productive in college. Only played at small school though.
Note I excluded Orakpo and Maybin because both are projected off the board.
I was listening to ESPN Radio on my way to work today.... Ayers was interviewed.... said he DEn worked him out.... Clayton says he's long gone by #23 (when NE picks- his college best friend and roomy is J-Mayo).
SO... if DEN decides to pass on Maualuga & Jenkins, and if Orakpo & Raji are gone.... Wouldn't Ayers or Brown be the next logical choice?

hey thats...thats pretty impressive. for some reason i had dismissed him in the past because i was under the impression we weighed in at 235 or something....guess not. ok so i used want sidbury with our 2nd (basically MR. workout warrior) but i guess im on the sintim bandwagon now.
YAY, another Sintim convert!!!! Sidbury looks good too though
What gets me is everyone talking about English, Orakpo, Ayers, Maybin, Michael Johnson, Barwin, Paul Krueger, Sidbury etc....as the answer to OLB.
All of these guys are transition players who may or may not be able to make the transition to an OLB. Very few people besides myself, MUG and a few others are talking about Clint Sintim. He is a 4 year starter for Virginia at a 3-4 OLB in a system very similar to the one we will be running.
Career stats
6-3, 255
tackles.......245
TFL.............39
sacks...........27 (20 the last 2 years) #1 for all LBs
Pass broken up...4 (3 last year)
He has the skills and experience the Broncos need at OLB. He isn't as good in coverage but he wasn't asked to do it very much which is no differant than any of the other guys on the list. He can play ILB or OLB and has started 49 straight games. What more can you ask for? This is the guy everyone should be saying is the guy we need.

actually we will be running the Arizona Cardinal system , which is a hybrid 43/34defence. So a player like Ayers will be valuable because he can play DE and rush the passer and then in the 34 look, can move inside and be one of the defensive lineman that can stop the run, while providing an extra pass rusher.
Larry English is a good player, but we can't draft everyone. Robert Ayers is about 270, with the frame to put on an extra 10-15 pounds, he could be the Trevor Pryce type DE that you need in a 34 defence. Ayers is the better option because he can play the run and also be a pass rusher.

Very true. Vernon Ghoulston comes to mind. Amazing athlete, but he struggled really bad with the transition to LB. Hopefully the guys we draft are able to adapt well.
yeah i hope we don't draft any vernon ghoulstons though. the only reason we went top 6 was because of his athleticism and we all know english definatly lacks the workout numbers so hopefully that means hes actually a football player; not a track runner.
its the 3-4, bascially anyone you draft means that you draft on defense means you have to change their position. b.j. raji would have to go from DT to NT, rey would have to go from MLB to SILB. yes, the transition from DE to OLB is probably the biggest one, but theres no question we need a passrusher and if we're limiting our choices to people who actually played OLB in a 3-4 in college, then our choices are basically limited to like four people.

If he could make the transition to OLB, I wouldn't mind having him, but taking a natural DE in the 1st round only to change his position defeats the purpose of drafting him in the 1st...right?
