  • Broncos might be targeting Evander "Ziggy" Hood

I was watching espn news last night and they did a draft segment on the broncos. They reported Ziggy Hood is high on the broncos draft board. I dont think they should take him at 18
    :go:

I personally wouldn't mind Evander Hood.

He's pretty beastly and I could see him high on the draft board.....but he wouldn't be my first pick either.

Ziggy would be a very solid pickup. I would rather take him around 25 but I don't see them trading down and it's only a few picks off. For those people saying to take Tyson Jackson at 12 or 18 should really love the Ziggy pick since Ziggy will be a much better DE than Jackson.

Raji/Cushing and Hood in the 1st round...I would be OK with that.

Ya I agree. Tyson Jackson will be avg. at best at the next level. I really dont believe he's #1 talent.

Im a Tyson Jackson supporter, but i would be just fine with Ziggy Hood. He is a great locker room guy and is devoted to the game.

The Dolphins are looking to trade down so id we could do that and grab Hood while picking up an extra pick or 2 i would be all for it. 18 is a slight reach, but not huge

Putting Ziggy Hood into the mix really opens up more possibilities. I like that his name is now being mentioned as a possible for Denver in the first round.

Not saying a "go" on him yet, but I'm glad he's in the mix. I would also like to see Peria Jerry more in the mix of 1st round possiblities.

I've noticed an evolution in the thinking on our drafting of defensive players by not only myself, but all you other draft opinionators.

Early on it was: nose tackle (mainly Raji) -vs- true linebacker (either Rey Rey -ILB, or an OLB like Mathews or Cushing). The OLB's discussed were instinctual, mobil, able blitzers, able to cover TE's in pass coverage . . .

Then the sentiment turned to transition DE's (hybrid DE/OLB's) like Brown, Orakpo, English -vs- a traditional DE (Jackson) -vs- a NT (Raji still). The "transition DE's" all seem to be strong, agile, fast and suited to the pass rush . . .

Getting a second 1st rounder sure makes it fun.

Mel Kiper projects Evander Hood going 46th to The Texans. I think he would be a great value in the 2nd Round.

At 6'3" 299lbs he is 1 inch shorter than Jackson but had almost 2 x the Tackles.

That is a much better value to me.

I'd much rather take Hood than an offensive player, so he's fine by me.

Hood or Brace could be our 2nd round pick.

I don't see us taking Jackson. I think DEN would prefer Ayers or Brown at 12, if Raji & Orakpo or gone, and they decide to pass on Jenkins & Maualuga.

amazing value. people who compare him to jackson will be ashamed by next year. hood has 2x the tackles like you said, better leadership, better effort, more upside, 16 more reps and alot more leg strength. the lions could take him with #20.

There is no way that Hood will be around in the second round. He is flying up the boards. If we don't take Tyson at 12, which I am a supporter of, then he would be a nice pick-up at 18 if his stock doesn't continue to soar past that point. I really like the guy, however, I believe Jackson would be a better piece to put on the line, as he can play end in the 3-4 or 4-3 which is perfect for the hybrid we will be running. Jackson will be a solid run-stuffer, but will never be a dynamic playmaker, which is his only downside

I think it all depends if BJ Raji falls. If he does fall to us then I see Detroit select Peria Jerry because they lost their 2 DT's. Then Evander Hood will probably be gone at Indy's pick.

I think Peria Jerry is more of a candidate at NT and Hood at DE.I still hope we get BJ Raji
