  • Crazy idea?

I'm not sure if this has been posted but I just read on rotoworld that the Browns have standing offer on the table for QB Brady Quinn which includes a 1st round pick, the team wasn't named but please god tell me it is not the Broncos!

If we give up #18 for Quinn it would be kind of back tracking from an otherwise good trade, that's just my opinion, what does everyone else think?

Would you be happy if Denver gave up #18 for QB Brady Quinn?

Wow, That's craazy! Could you post a link man, if you still have it?

I would not mind Quinn at all but i would hate for us to have to give up one of those 1st rounders. I think we could get away with a 2nd for Quinn.

Very interesting. If true, I would say that there is a 70-80% chance that team is us!!

If we trade a first rounder for Quinn, I'll be very disappointed. Another dumb move by management.

He is not worth a first round pick, especially 18. There is a reason he dropped as far as he did (22nd overall).

Coaches and scouts weren't that high on him, and there's a reason for that.

If he was that good, or starting quality, he would have won the starting job already, or there would be teams lining up to try to get him, because there's no question he's virtually on the trading block.

He's in open competition with Derek Anderson. If he was a starting quality, first round QB, Mangini would give him the starting job.

But, he's not. He had his chance last year to lock it up, and didn't.

I would MAYBE give a second, if we got a pick back, but I'd be happy to offer a third for him.

According to the National Football Post's Michael Lombardi, the Browns have offers on the table for both Brady Quinn and Braylon Edwards and will likely move both players.
One team has reportedly made a standing offer of a first-round pick for Quinn, which the Browns will likely accept. They also have a package of at least a first-round pick on the table for Braylon Edwards, and Lombardi expects him to be dealt sometime this offseason. It's clear now that the Browns are in full-blown rebuilding mode after Phil Savage left the roster in shambles. Apr. 12 - 9:02 am et

I'm hoping that this isn't us...

Please oh please don't give up our first round pick for Quinn.

We'll be stuck with 3 QB's on the roster, and one less pick to help reassemble our defense.

Maybe it's another QB needing team. Quinn comes at a really good price, and a cheap contract -- if they feel he'll develop into a quality QB, it's a MUCH safer bet than going QB in the first round, with the way rookie contracts are now.

But man, I sure hope it's not Denver.

I can't see how it would be us.

McDaniels said that it was Orton's tape that won him over other offers... if we wanted Quinn badly at all, we would have found a way to get him in the original trade, I imagine.

                I hope.

Man... one of the weirdest things to get used to with Shanny being gone, is I really have no idea how our team operates anymore. I'm used to Shanny's tendencies...

                  Stupid!!

NO WE SHOULDNT GIVE UP ONE OF OUR 1ST ROUNDERS.I MEAN THE BROWNS HAVE HAD QUINN FOR A COUPLE YEARS AND HES PRETTY MUCH DONE NOTHING SO WHY WOULD WE WANT HIM?ID RATHER HAVE ANDERSON.AND I THINK WE SHOULD EITHER MAKE A MOVE ON PAT WHITE IN THE 2ND ROUND THIS YEAR OR WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR AND GET A QB. I LIKE TEBOW . AND I THINK WE SHOULD BE OK THIS YEAR AS LONG AS OUR RUNNING GAME HELPS OUT ORTON AND I THINK THEY WILL.

I don't think that we give up a first rounder for Quinn. McD got the QB he wanted with the trade. and I don't see going after Edwards either. unless they wanna package J. Cribbs in the deal.. I know not likely to happen.. lol just a thought though.

                      One question

How have our previous Browns acquisitions work in the past?

                      I mean Courtney Brown....

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! If he was any good, do you think they would be getting rid of him the way they are, going hard at it. We need the picks to build the defence.

Well let's go through process of elimination with every team in the NFL:
Bills - Pretty high on Trent Edwards. I doubt they bring in someone who can take his job.
Dolphins - Chad Pennington is the now. Chad Henne is the future.
                          Patriots - Tom.
Jets - Were in the Cutler sweepstakes. I HIGHLY doubt Rex Ryan trades away his first round pick for a QB though. He's supposedly really sold on Ratliff, Ainge, and Clemens.
                          Ravens - AFC North, Joe.
                          Bengals - AFC North, Carson.
                          Steelers - AFC North, Ben.
Texans - Matt Schuab, could be a possiblity though.
                          Colts - Peyton.
Jacksonville - They COULD have a need at QB, although Garrard just did get a hefty deal last offseason. But I doubt they send the #8 pick away for Quinn.
Titans - Eh, Jeff Fisher wouldn't make this bold of a move in my opinion.
Broncos - TWO first round picks. Just traded away a franchise QB. Questionable QBs. Quinn played in a Patriot style spread at ND. Had a deal in place that would have sent Quinn to the Broncos, but decided against it. Second thoughts???
                          Chiefs - Matt.
Raiders - Just signed Garcia, invested too much in Russell to give up on him already.
                          Chargers - Philip.
                          Cowboys - Tony.
                          Giants - Eli.
Redskins - Were in the Cutler sweepstakes, so MAYBE. The Redskins were also part of the deal that would have sent Quinn to Denver and Campbell to Cleveland. Could be a possibility. Also, Dan Snyder would do something like this if he gets his mind made up on it. He could have been so attracted to Cutler that when he didn't get him, he felt the need to go and find a potential star in this league, and Quinn could be that guy.
Bears - I'd laugh my ass off.
Lions - Were in the Cutler sweepstakes. #20 pick for Quinn straight up? Very good possibility.
                          Packers - Aaron.
Vikings - Traded for Rosenfels earlier in the offseason. Could still be in the market for a QB though.
                          Falcons - Matt.
Panthers - This is intriguing, but seeing that Carolina seems to be in love with Jake Delhomme, I don't see it happening. At least not for a first round pick.
                          Saints - Drew.
Buccaneers - Were in the Cutler sweepstakes and were willing to deal the #19 pick. So they could be a possible suitor for Quinn. Although they did just sign Leftwich to a 2 year deal, so maybe they're willing to give him a chance before they decide to look onward. We'll keep them in the hunt though.
                          Cardinals - Kurt, Matt.
Rams - No way they trade the 2nd pick in the draft away for Quinn.
49ers - Were in the Cutler sweepstakes. They'd have the best deal on the table if they were to offer the #10 pick. Makes sense.
Seahawks - #4 pick, not going to happen. I think they'd rather take their chances with Sanchez or Stafford(Whoever falls).

So with that being said, there are a number of teams that could have the offer on the table. So I'll go by front runners and dark horses.

Front runners - Lions, Buccaneers, Broncos, 49ers.
Dark horses - Redskins, Jets, Vikings, Texans.

                              orton beats out quinn

The whole problem here is that I think and probably Mcdaniels THinks, Orton would beat out quinn anyway. So why in the world we trade #1 for a back up?
