  • Late Round QB prospect???

Curtis Painter is a late round guy who I think we could be interested in. I am fairly certain we worked him out before the Cutler trade went down.

He had an excellent Junior year, but a very disappointing senior season. I remember watching a few of his games and coming away impressed. His Junior season stats were terrific and I wonder if his shoulder injury was the cause for the drop-off his senior season.

McD said he didn't want to go into training camp with just two QBs so I definitely think we will be using a later round pick on a QB.

Hmmmm, i really don't care who we take if we are going to take a late round QB. I personally would pick Graham harrell but as long as the Qb does not get drafted higher then round 6 i will be happy.
    Humm....

I just watched Painters on draftguystv and i have to say i am impressed and if McDaniels gets him we could have a star in the making

Curtis Painter was set up to become a first-round pick with a strong senior year. Didn't happen. Is he washed up for good, or did last season's downturn tu...

I like Painter he is probably number 3 on my list of developmental QB's

          1. Stephen McGee Texas A&M (6-3, 225)

          2. Chase Patton Missouri (6-4, 224)

          3. Curtis Painter Purdue (6-3, 225)

I hope one of these guys ends up in orange and blue

I have just had a read through the report the nfl has on Painter and i think they are judging him on his senior year far to much i just watched highlights of his junior year and he is a smart footballer knows what needs to be done to win a game and the real thing that annoyed me is it says he stares down his reciver when i just watched him look safties off and make 3 different reads in about 2 seconds

              Late round qb

I honestly think that (and i know ill catch flack for this), but i think Graham Harrell will be a excellent late round pickup. We are converting to the patriot style shotgun throw all game system and thats exactly what he did at Texas Tech and well might i add. Of course people will say that it was all Michael Crabtree, but the QB has to get the ball there for him to catch. The transition I would figure would be smooth for him. He would walk into a supurb denver oline and only get better a better receiving coprs. B Marsh is a better Micheal Crabtree (barring he doesnt get suspended). And McD can groom him to make good descisions.

              Any thoughts?

I was big on Graham Harrell, even though I am a UT grad. I thought he was unstoppable in the UT-TX Tech game, and even told people I thought he should win the Heisman.

Then I started asking people from Texas (the state) what they thought, and the response was unanimous - not that good, a cry-baby, etc. Then he disappeared in the Heisman voting and now he's rated maybe the 10th best QB in this year's draft.

I think (despite the above) he's a good QB and will probably get better if given the chance (ie. gets picked by a team that allows him to mature).

What baffles me, however, is the blind-eye that's been turned towards BRIAN HOYER, the Michigan State QB. Many scouts and ranking groups have Hoyer ranked as the 4th best QB (behind Stafford, Sanchez and Freeman).

If Hoyer is still available in the 4th or 5th round, why not him?

I also like Curtis Painter. I was concerned that the majority of his pass plays were in shotgun formation as opposed to a balanced under center type formations. After seeing some drop back pass plays, I think he can handle it well. He's very accurate under pressure and puts the money 30+ yards out on the money

My other QB likings are Bomar, the guy has good pro-style mechanics, he's little raw in certain areas, but he can definitely be an NFL QB

Graham Harrell is another one, but he would need to bulk up a little
Either one of those three in that order I like a lot to be had somewhere after the 3rd round...

I'd like us to draft Drew Willy, the QB from Buffalo in the 6th or 7th round.

You and me both, buddy! :salute!: Kid has winning instilled in him, and he's closest to a Brady clone as y'll get in this draft.

Graham Harrell is a good prospect. A lot of people call him a "system" QB given the past history of former TT QB's
The guy is also touted as highly intelligent which translate to me into making good decisions on the field and a good manager as well
Cutris Painter and Rhett Bomar are my two top QB on my wish list for the later rounds...

dunno what it is about Bomar, but that kid spells trouble.
