  • Dawkins type attitude players in the draft?

This draft is tough, we could go many different directions. But looking at what Mcdaniels has brought in on DEFENCE so far this year...Dawkins, Davis, Reid etc....these are players that ignite others. They have fire, passion and are infectious with their energy and spread that virus of whoopass throughout the entire D.

So it got me thinking, why stop here? Let's continue drafting these type of players that have those same qualities...I mean I don't think you can have to many of them. I personally would rather have a player like this at a position that is not as much of a need than a talented player with little of these attributes a very highly needed positon.

So who in your mind are your top 5 defensive attitude players?

These are players who are born to lead, stay out of trouble, wreak havoc, and have a passion for the game unlike none other.

I can't give you an accurate top 5, but I can mention the 2 MLBs Maualuga and Laurinaitis. Maualuga ignited his teammates with the big plays and was the MLB at USC for several years. Laurinaitis might be more vocal, he made the calls for Ohio State and aligned his teammates, he does not lay the wood but is a technician with great character and leadership skills.

I think thats the goal of every team when they are srafting a player, to get someone like that.

We need to send psycologists or something like that to the combine to perform interviews in order to know whether these guys have the mental toughness to lead a team among other things.

There are those who inspire through grit and those who inspire through skill. Some like Dawkins can do both. Al Wilson had both skill and grit so hes another example of this. To assume that a player like Rey who just because he is skilled can inspire people through his grit is leaping.

Ild weigh someone like Keith Burns whose grit was greater then anyone on the field even though he was not that talented over someone whose talented but does not fire people up in that way. Thes players become coaches because they know how to light a fire under someone without having to grab some pads and make a sack. That type of inspiration is rarer and more powerful.

here are 4 that would do that.

            rey
            JL
            william moore
            chung

Even though 2 are LB and 2 are S. all are leaders and vocal, and 3/4 can hit a mother freaker like a truck.
            So far:
            FA- Melvin Gordon. Brandon Scherff
            1. Kenneth Murray LB; 2. Shenault WR; 2B. Biadazz Center, 3. OT

              Valid point...

Maybe it's not cooks we are looking for...I think Mcdaniels has established himself as the Chef...but more so spicey ingredients that give that soup the fire and zest it needs!

I just want fired up players...I'm hoping some current roster players come out of their shells with our new additions. ( Both the free agents and draft)

I mean do you remember Marcus Thomas in college? He was an animal...he needs to break out into that beast again!

Even Champ to me looks like he's heard this broken record too many times and has lost faith and that extra edge...probably can't blame him, but true leaders continue to beleive!

You can have a secondary captain a lb captain and sometimes a line captain

with a special teams captain and an offensive captain which tends to be the QB thats quite a few guys in charge. Although most of the time we have about 3 real leaders on a team.

I was wondering though since Burns retired who has been our special teams captain.

                  OT Eben Britton
                  LBs Curry, Mckillop and Cushing

I would love any of these guys on the Broncos. Britton not really needed though.

I like McKillop and Curry is out of reach. I have heard Cushings is a good leader who is versatile but its hard to say with a team that takes so many top players in every high school class.

I think Jon Cooper is just as talented and just as much a leader and a C he fills a future need. He is a workhorse at C and thats not easy to find.

Ok you hit it on the nose...a linebacker captain...we really don't have one?

DJ...and God bless him...is no Wilson, Lewis or Urlacher. But I really think we need help outside more than inside...so I would like to put Ray and Cushing aside for a second...

Who on the outside linebacker position best fits these attributes?

I think we need that Sean Merriman type of guy to lead the LB's

Agree that we don't get Curry, would like to get McKillop in round 5, that would be a steal. I also agree that we need a center. I am hoping for Eric Wood. I'm not too familiar with Cooper. I'll have to read up on him.
