  • I'll take Jenkins over Jackson at 12 thank you

I know I stated this before but there is no way we pass up on Jenkins for Jackson if it comes to it.

Presuming guys like Raji, Sanchez, Orak are gone...I think this is our best play.

We never had a good nickel, and I really think Jenkins will be our free safety before the end of the season. More importantly he is a play maker that can change momentum on a dime with either a hit or interception.

Tyson Jackson...nothing against him...but his game is being a run stuffer with occasional penetration...I think Marcus Thomas, Peterson, Powell and company can all handle that just fine.

As far as DE/LB there will be plenty to choose at 18 that will be beasts!

Depends. I agree that Malcolm Jenkins would have good value at 12, but we don't know how comfortable Nolan and McD are with our defensive line. Maybe they think we have enough bodies to plug at DE and only need a NT, or they might feel that Tyson Jackson is a need because our guys are struggling. I'm not sold on Jackson as a 3-4 DE because he wasn't even a DT in college, but people like him so much, maybe he is the real deal.

I agree, people got so wrapped up in Jenkins 40 time that they forgot how dominant his play was last season. He's by far the best CB prospect in the draft and would honestly be a steal at #12.

I'm excited, with all the top 10 teams needing Oline, QB's, and WR's one of the elite defensive players are going to drop to us: Raji, Orakpo, Jenkins, Maybin, or Everette Brown

      Jackson is not one them.

Hmm I don't agree at all. I think they need to rebuild the D starting with the D-Line. Games are one on both sides of the line. The best pass coverage is a good D-line who can pressure the QB. Although they would bring Jackson in to help stop the run more than anything. . .

          Hey:
The Broncos should draft the best player available at #12! Whom ever is highest on their board! Even if it is a OL or CB or Safety. Always get the best player available with the first round pick and fill needs with the 2nd through 7th round picks. With the 18 pick they should trade down for a couple of 2nd round picks to use to fill these needs we spoke of earlier!

I don't think Tyson Jackson is worth a pick at all. I don't think he could beat out Marcus Thomas, Kenny Peterson, or Powell for the starting job. He is smaller and weaker (19 reps at the combine) and won't be able to hold the point of attack against 310+ OTs. I have been saying for a long time that if raji is gone at 12 then Jenkins or Vontae Davis would be a great choice. The DBs are weak after the starters who are all 31+ years old. The only other choice besides Raji and CB would be Moreno. Ziggy Hood and Peria Jerry would be much better options than Jackson anyway.

I completely disagree. I dont care how good our secondary is, its still gonna look like crap if we dont fix our front 7. I think Tyson Jackson is the most likely pick. He's great against the run and a better pass rusher than most people realize. I like Jenkins, but we have much bigger needs in the front 7.

I do think we need to draft a free safety this year though, my first choice would be Rashad Johnson out of Alabama

I agree with that statement. On the other hand we have already begun to fix the front 7. We will have a new NT (Fields so far, maybe Thomas or a draftee), new DEs (Thomas/Powell and Peterson), and LBs in new spots. Moss/Doom/Crowder at OLB, Larsen, Woodyard, Davis, maybe DJ or Boss at ILB. How do you know it isn't already fixed? Jackson played ok against the run in college, in a 4-3 defense, not a 3-4. He is very weak, 19 reps at the combine, and very low scores on his vertical and broad jump which means he has bad lower body strength as well. How do you suggest he will do well in the NFL at 34 DE?

You want a DE for the 34 then you should go after Jarron Gilbert or Ziggy Hood. Both are as big as Jackson but are much stronger..Gilbert benched 28 times, Hood did 35. Vertical was 34.5 for hood, 37 for Gilbert. McD says he wants the team to be more physical, I don't see Jackson as the answer to that. I think it was Charlie casserly, maybe Michael Lombardi on NFL Total Access tonight that said one of the secrets to a great draft is to not listen to everyone else...draft players who fit what you want to do. Jackson doesn't fit.

11/23/08: "Ziggy" Hood has 47 tackles, six TFL and four sacks through 11 games this season. Not bad for a defensive tackle.

11/23/08: Jarron Gilbert has terrorized quarterbacks this year. Through 11 games, Gilbert has 47 tackles, 21.5 TFL, nine sacks and three passes broken up.

I agree with the OP. If Jenkins is there I say we grab him. I think we should play him at FS. I honestly think he could be a proBowl caliber FS for years. Just my :2cents:

I'd take Moreno over both of them in a heartbeat.
Only fools bet against Tim Tebow.
