Im basically doing this because I think he is an idiot but I do promise to give him due credit for the ones he gets right. I know he is not compleatly useles as he did say Eddie Royal was a great player when denver drafted him last year.

However, The other night I was watching sportscenter with Mayock and Kiper arguing over weather or not the lions should take Stafford (QB) or Jason Smith (OLT) in this years draft. Without going in to great detail about the argument Mayock made a comparison of Smith to Clady (which is actually a pretty good comparison inmo). Mel retort? ...... wait for it........

"Ryan Clady was not an elite tackle last year"

I woke my wife from a sound sleep as I hurled vulger language at the television for what she said was a completly unhealthy amount of time.

Mel Kiper cant even get last years draft right this year!

Anyone with one eye and a functioning brain pattern knows that even with one of the best tackle drafts we have seen in years last year Ryan Clady was a huge steal at #12 overall. I mean 1 1/2 sack in over 600 dropbacks!

So I added this to the growing list of Mel Kipers Mindless Quotes* section of my website. I just had to share it with the boards here.

*All names of articals and sections of the upcoming Mel Kiper Website are subject to change at anytime and for any reason especially if I say so. lol.
If the Charger fans can count the Hochuli debacle as a win i'm sayin Clady had zero sacks last year.
    I really like Cheese.

The real problem with Kiper is that when he's proven wrong he won't admit it. If he assesses a guy negatively and the guy proves him wrong he maintains his original stance no matter how ridiculous it is.
Only fools bet against Tim Tebow.

        What else is new?

Clady gets no respect while everyone rides Jake Longs schlong.

If the draft were done over, Ryan would be a cinch to be a top 3 pick!

That's true. Look at The Player.

Kiper wouldn't shut up about how The Player won't be any good, and how much better Vince Young and Leinart blow him away. I recall McShay and Mayock being about the only ones who said it was a good pick.

And after his impressive career so far, Kiper still hasn't taken back what he said.
Very happy to have Tebow in orange and blue!!!

Mel does say one thing about a broncos player that should give him a little "message board cred", Elway is the greatest QB of all time. so he cant be all that bad
My friends over at Sports Radio Interviews sent me a link to an interview Pat Bowlen did with a Chicago-area radio station. While there is nothing earth-shattering here. Below is a segment of the transcript -

What are the Bears getting in Jay Cutler?

“They’re getting an extremely talented young quarterback.”

Some one Please name me the last successful NFL QB that had to be taught how to throw the ball correctly.

Mel has turned into a grumpy old man. It might be a brilliant marketing move. I know that I'm tempted to watch ESPN instead of NFLN just so I can see him explode a few times. Kiper is a trainwreck and awesome TV.

The problem though is that NFLN's coverage is so superior that I don't want to miss the intelligent talk either. I'll probably click back and forth, but the ONLY reason I will watch ESPN's coverage over NFLN's, is to see Kiper blow a gasket in debates or over a selection.

There is always one in every crowd huh? Sorry I didn't spell check my message board post at eleven o'clock last night. What is it with the grammer police around here anyway? The internet itself is a bastardization of the english language anyway. My spelling is fine, dork.

You are completely incorrect in your understanding of the quote. While, McShay
might have been comparing him Clady in the NFL, Kiper was clearly comparing him
to Clady as a prospect coming out. In which, he is correct. CLady wasn't an elite
tackle coming out, although some "experts" claimed he would be.

Also, someone posted an article on here a lil while ago showing the accuracy of
the most popular "experts" and draft sites in terms of mock drafts. Everyone is
pathetic. Kiper is no worse than Scouts Inc, or Scout.com, or Matt McGuire, ect...
I think people just hate Kiper more because of his voice.

Precisely I heard Mel make the same statement on First take but with a better description. He said that the Broncos made a good choice with Clady who in college showed no signs of being an elite tackle. He went onto say that in workouts he showed some talent that made some change there mind while others were not so impressed. He didnt say where he was on Clady but he did say that it was one of the best steals in the draft

and say clady wasn't an elite tacle last year is insane!!!!!!!!

                          :go:
Clady was probably the best pure left tackle in the draft but coming from a mid-major program, he wasn't an elite OT or would have been drafted in the top 5 picks and the Broncos would have never got him. He is an elite tackle in the NFL now though.

By the way, you are wrong about Orton. He will throw for 4800 yards and 25 to 30 TD's with about 10 or 12 INT's and will start the next Pro Bowl.
