How has his stock gone up so much, its like every mock draft he is going to KC at three...? I thought it was a joke the first time i saw it.. Most mock drafts had Jackson going from 12 to 18, how all of sudden is he a top ten pick? I know many teams are looking for that 5 technique defensive end but how come these so called experts didnt have him even going in the top a month ago?

I see either him or raji going to us at 12. Would like to see laurinitis at 18 though, he has fallen big time but would be a good stuffer up the middle in a 3-4.

I think Jackson is the player that could alter the draft. I dont see Jackson going as high as 3 but it does make sense. As does 5 or 9. SF at 10 could be a landing spot. He's the player that depending on where he goes is going to change the direction of this draft. If Jackson goes at 3 that pushes Curry, Raji and Orakpo down. So this is going to be interesting to see where he goes.

Supply and demand. There is a bigger and bigger demand for 3:4 DE's these days as more and more teams make the switch. There isn't a huge supply of high profile 3:4 DE prospects. Alot of elite DE's in college are smaller, faster guys who end up being 4:3 DEs or 3:4 OLBs. Alot of guys who will be 3:4 DEs in the NFL play DT in college, so it's a bit harder to project them. So a guy like Jackson is a bit of a rarity and thus his value is high.Comment

I think this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Tyson Jackson is not even remotely close to the #3 player in this draft. It's true Pioli has a mancrush with drafting 3-4 DEs FAR earlier then anyone else in history, but Tyson Jackson is not Richard Seymour.
He's a reach even at #18. I'm not buying this misinformation/rumor whatsoever.Comment

I don't think he goes top 10, maybe top 15 but more realistically prolly in the 15-20 range.Club Leader: Robert Griffin III > Andrew Luck

Richard Seymour (DT, 6'6 299):
41 games, 223 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 25.5 tackles for loss
Tyson Jackson (DE, 6'4 296):
53 games, 121 tackles, 19.5 sacks, 31.5 tackles for loss
It is had to compare them since Jackson was a DE while Seymour was the #1 rated DT. Seymour gained 10 pounds after joining the Patriots and is currently listed at 310 lbs.Last edited by -Rod-; 04-24-2009, 03:04 PM.sigpicComment

I was checking their college stats to draw a comparison:
Richard Seymour (DT, 6'6 299):
41 games, 223 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 25.5 tackles for loss
Tyson Jackson (DE, 6'4 296):
53 games, 121 tackles, 19.5 sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss

Yes, it pushes Curry, Raji and Orakpo down, but Curry will be snapped up by the Seahawks or Browns if he's available. Raji will never get past Green Bay at #9 and if he did, S.F. at #10 or the Bills at #11 would be good bets to grab him.
Orakpo should also go in the top 5. What MIGHT really shake up the draft for the Broncos is if the Bills take Andre Smith at #11. They need a LT BAD and with Monroe and Jason Smith off the boards the top choices are Oher and A. Smith. Neither is a lock at LT, but Dic k Jauron is on the thinnest of ice. He has to win THIS YEAR or he and his crew will be fired.
There's no time for him to develop a DT or something. He needs an INSTANT impact player. Well, a LT could be that player -- if he chooses right.
If that happens and IF Raji or Monroe slips past Green Bay, and IF S.F. takes Michael Oher, THEN maybe Orakpo or Raji might fall to #12. Or at least Jackson would.Last edited by Cugel; 04-24-2009, 03:21 PM.sigpicComment

It's pretty clear Raji and Jackson are going to be gone by #12...
Could Mike Nolan look at Robert Ayers and remember what he had in Baltimore with Terrell Suggs and/or Adalius Thomas? Ayers has a similar skill set and could be a good fit for the 'Joker' in Nolan's defense.
I have settled on Ayers as the probable selection, and I would be excited about the Broncos drafting him.Comment
