  • Richard Quinn??

We just got TE Richard Quinn. why?

In the NE offense system, TEs are used for blocking. Scheff sucks at blocking and its more of a receiver than a blocker. He doesn't fit in the new system...

Good pick. He's a dominationg blocker (6-4, 265). I bet Tony Scheffler gets traded for a 3rd rounder tomorrow

Richard Quinn is probably the best blocking tightend in this draft. A much cheaper and younger version of Daniel Graham. Who I expect won't be around for too much longer.

              This means no more Scheffler.

              Awesome pick-up though.

I have been saying we will go much heavier on offense than everyone expects.

We will keep the ball in our offenses hands by keeping playmakers on defense.

              Awesome job so far!

So, if your going to draft a pure blocking TE that no one has really talked about
why trade up for him? Could you not wait to nab him in the 3rd? There were still
talented TE's left that would most likely go before him.

As a UNC alumn I've been watching Quinn for his entire career. Honestly, when I read a month or so ago that he was moving up the draft boards and could be a 2nd or 3rd round pick, I was a bit perplexed. He wasn't utilized very much at UNC in the passing game, but we had 3 WRs who will be drafted this weekend. Additionally, the system we run is pretty specialized when it comes to TEs; Quinn was the blocker while Pianalto is the "h-back" receiving TE. Quinn is a good blocker, although it was hard to tell at times because our offensive line has been terrible for years. While if I wasn't a UNC fan I would be scratching my head over this pick, I am excited for him. I don't really understand why we needed a TE, but Quinn is a tough, hard working player who will do the little things to help us win.

Anyone know what we gave up. I really have no problem with the pick as dominant blocking TEs see the field a lot and especially in McD's offense. I just hope we didn't give up too much...

I was SO HAPPY we traded back into the 2nd.... But, before I could even get happy, I hear about this pick? I could rationalize to myself that Smith wouldn't last to 48.... I can even justify grabbing Mcbath, thinking he might not last to us in the 3rd....

BUT, NO WAY QUINN is gone before we pick in the 3rd.... Just senseless move.

Good coaches adapt their systems according to their players. Sheffler is a good enough talent to do some adjusting, saving the picks for other needs.

From what I've heard, ALOT of teams were high on Quinn and were eyeing him in the 3rd. I don't think it's a given he falls to 79.

                              Good News:

Denver gave up both 3rd rounders this year to get Pit's 2nd rounder, essentially
                              a 3rd rounder, and Pit's 4th rounder!!!

That being said, Pit did just have a private workout for Quinn, so maybe MCD
                              thought they would take him???
