Could you please explain to me why the Broncos decided to keep LaMont Jordan instead of Darius Walker for the final running back spot? Jordan had a mediocre preseason at best (and that's being generous), while Walker seemed to show significant potential, particularly in the Arizona game. What happened?
    -- Chris, Castle Rock

Chris: Darius Walker was nothing unique, to be frank. He played against slugs. Jordan didn't have much of an exhibition season (I never use that other word because the NFL demands that they be called ********* games. They're practice games, yet they charge regular-season prices, which is totally unfair. Only 30,000 showed up at the last exhibition in Denver.)

The belief is that Jordan will be a back for short-yardage situations, although he has been hurt throughout camp. The Broncos have three backs, and when Knowshon Moreno is completely healthy, Jordan likely will be gone, to be replaced by Walker (who wasn't signed by anybody else, which should show you something, and ended up on the Broncos practice squad, so he can be activated.) Spend your valuable time worrying about more important things with the Broncos.
My question is again, why not just keep Walker for the extra week then, if were just going to activate him anyways by Week 2? It makes no sense, especially since Knowshon is a power specialist, but is more like Walker ( agile/speed guy).

I think Woody is smoking something.

I think Ben Tate will be the best back taken in the 2010 draft. (5/3/10)

    • Chad played good football in the preseason.I thought Lamont Jordan should be cut IMO

      • I have seen him play several games on TV. He drops alot of passes. He wouldn't be an upgrade to anything that we already have. I hope the Broncos leave him be.

        • I think we are fine at WR position especially with Brandon Marshall coming back.

          • William Joseph 6'5 ht, 305lbs anyone??

The Raiders just released William Joseph 6'5 305lbs, now I know he's been a back up but he has the size that Nolan likes out of his D-lineman. With Smith hurt, why not try Joseph out?

After our performance yesterday in which our D-Line was pretty solid I don't see a need to mess with the chemistry. As far as Smith being hurt, that is why we signed Holliday.

And, keep in mind if we sign someone, then someone else has to go.

              • Wouldn't hurt to have him come in for a work-out. Career stats look like ~ 20Tackles/2Sacks a year. Any idea if he can play LDE?
McBean needs to be cut/replaced and W.J. seems like a big, rotational DL that could upgrade the position.

                • No, this guy sucks. Was a 1st round bust for the Giants and now the Raiders (who need all the D-line help they can get) released him. That should tell you all you need to know about him.

                    • My best friend is a Giants fan and I'm surrounded by them. I remember telling my best friend that "we just signed William Joseph, can you give me the scoop on how good he is." My friend, and others I asked, described him perfectly with one word:

                      Who?

                      • How old is he again? Perhaps we can recruit YOUNG promising players instead of great players that are a bit long in the tooth. Look, I like experience too but I always want a team thats gonna be around for some time to come. Why sign a large contract for players with limited playing years?

I still keep to my 5-11 record. I dont have faith in McDaniels as a coach. Call me a hater or a Shanahan lover..whatever. I watched our team loaded with talent play a weaker opponent and lose. I've seen us replace a proven offensive genius (Shanahan) with a coach that took all the credit for Tom Brady's talent and watched our offense slowly turn into something you'd expect out of Detroit.

                        • He may be 36, but I still think he can get the job done. He'd be cheap, great back up ILB, and mentor/leadership guy.

                          • I'm pretty sure Brooks signed on as an analyst for ESPN2. At least I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.
