  • Jan. 1st Gator Bowl (FSU v. West Virginia)

Here are my notes for these teams.

FSU's best prospect is Patrick Robinson but only because of his physical traits. He's not much of a playmaker on the field and is a project. I think he's a 3rd rounder at best, but I'll acknowledge he could go in the late 2nd. Hudson is a very talented pass blocking OG that is undersized. White and Watson haven't lived up to their potential yet, White still gets another shot. We all know about Myron Rolle and his story. His offseason workouts are going to be very interesting after being away from the game for a year. His athleticism was already in question before he went to England. I don't really see much here for Denver, maybe Patrick Robinson if he falls far enough, I hope not though. I think he's a future bust.

As for West Virginia, they really only have two prospects. They have a lot of decent players that might get an UDFA sniff, including Jarrett Brown, but nobody other than Capers and Devine that really stands out. Capers projects as an athletic OT that should come off the board in the 2nd Round. Devine is likened to Darren Sproles. He doesn't have the Return experience which would really help his draft stock, but teams might feel they can teach him that. Devine is someone the Broncos could possibly look at in the Mid-Rounds.

I'll be keying on Patrick Robinson and Noel Devine. Robinson has the intangibles, but you will notice him out of position more than you'd like. He would need some work to be a solid CB in the NFL, but he has the ability, it's mostly between the ears with him.

Noel Devine is a special RB. He could be the equivalence of Darren Sproles in the NFL. Or, he could just be another Early Doucet. I see a guy like him, with the proven track record like he owns, to find his niche in the NFL and really help a team when they call his names on KR, Screens, Sweeps, and maybe even split out wide and used in the slot. He is a near-complete RB, and he actually does run adequate enough in the inside, but the only knock on him is something he can't control, his size. I like Devine, to me he's built in the mold of a Kevin Faulk type, but in a smaller package. He's hard nosed, and he doesn't shy from contact like a lot of the smaller RB's do. He's also a very nice receiver, who would always be a threat for the big play in the screen game, something we like to do... A LOT. I wouldn't be opposed to a young backfield of Moreno and Devine.

How about the super freaky athleticism and speed Patrick Robinson showed in running down Devine...not to mention the all out effort??

With his size and obvious speed and athleticism, it is hard to understand why Muggy doesn't like him.

I think the kid is going to be a very good Pro.

SOOOOOO.......which game coming up has the most Bronco possibilities from a draft perspective?

        Appreciate any help....

The Sugar Bowl, easily. The Pouncey Twins, Joe Haden, Brandon Spikes, Jermaine Cunningham, Carlos Dunlap from Florida all seem like they could be options. And from Cincinatti you got Mardy Gilyard and Tony Pike.

The National Championship has some guys as well. Rolando McClain, Mike Johnson, Javier Arenas from Alabama. Colt McCoy, Jordan Shipley, Earl Thomas, and Sergio Kindle from Texas.

I'd say these games, along with the Capital One Bowl, have a lot of possibilites, especially if a lot of the draft-eligible Juniors come out from these games.

He's a world-class athlete with top physical skills. I know that. But as a CB, he's not very good. He's an athlete. That's all I see, and I live right here in the middle of the FSU/Florida/Georgia triangle. I don't see a player, I see an athlete.

Now, Devin Hester was drafted when he was just an athlete, but he was a top notch return threat too. I understand teams will draft workout warriors with the concept of coaching them up. I understand a team will do this with Robinson. I just don't think it will happen until the Late 2nd or 3rd Round. And yes, I know this is a poor CB draft which increases his value.

But again, I don't see a good CB. I see maybe an average CB with elite physical attributes, mostly speed.

I agree with your opinion. The Capital One Bowl was probably the 3rd best one to scout for the Broncos, but the field conditions make it almost a throw-away. It's good to see who is a "mudder' though. But, when you can't set your feet at all, it negates proper scouting of just about everyone.

So you don't think he can develop?

Players that have his ability that don't live up to their potential are usually players that won't work to get there...I saw alot of effort in Robinson this season.

Granted, I don't see much FSU football, but the games I did see this season, namely the Miami game and part of today's game, I thought the kid showed alot of promise.

I thik he is a classic case of a player who has his best football ahead of him.

Anyone can develop. You'd just like to see a potential prospect improve each season instead of regress. I mean, ideally, you'd like to see some form of improvement at all. All I see with him is a guy that runs fast that has no feel for the position. The Raiders should love him.

I have to believe that leading up to the draft, he will be exposed. I am waiting eagerly for Mike Mayock to break him down.

Do you guys notice how fast Devine gets going and how quick he stops and gets going again.

He's a lot like Darren Sproles. Something this offense could really use.
