  • Jan. 2nd Liberty Bowl (Arkansas v. East Carolina)

    Notes:

This is one of the more exciting Bowl games for me even though the teams don't sport a ton of talent. Ryan Mallett is just fun to watch. He might have the strongest arm on the planet and you never know where the ball will end up. If he comes out, a team will draft him in the Top 10, but he needs to sit for a year. His accuracy isn't terrible, but it needs refinement. Petrus is a great OG/OC prospect. I think Denver could look at both of these players very hard in the draft, though I expect Mallett will not be there when we select in the 1st Round.

Meanwhile, East Carolina is full of tremendous prospects that are flying under the radar to this point. Denver could look at any and all of their D-line prospects. Jay Ross gets the most hype (only hype?) but he's the worst of the bunch. The WR, Dwayne Harris, is one of the most dynamic playmakers in college football. He's someone to watch and Denver could definitely use somebody like him.

This is probably the "smaller" bowl game with the most potential prospects that Denver could look at. Most of these guys are not headline names at this point, though if the Juniors declare, they will be as the draft approaches.

I'm pretty interested to watch Linval Johnson play, his info online is pretty limited.

What do you think of Mallett? I haven't been able to watch him.

I saw him play vs. Florida, guy has a Cannon. But he is definetly raw, not going to be one of the rookie QB's to come in and start right away IMO.

Mallett has all the tools necessary to be a Pro Bowl QB. He throws the ball extremely well, has very good accuracy, and he can really drive the ball downfield. He's tall (6'7"), and he has really good pocket presence for a guy his size. His mobility is underrated as well. I hope he comes out, because if he were to do so, chances are one of the big three will be there for us at where we draft, and if that's the direction McD wants to go, that'd be a huge plus for our team.

I'm not as high on Mallett as most people. 1st he hasn't shown enough. 2nd he is a Bobby Petrino protege and they are in the same boat as Jeff Tedford protege's. Buyer Beware.

I second that notion! He was amazingly accurate tonight. What a future he has in the NFL. Seriously though, after the 3rd miss, I'd just let my Punter kick.

That was probably the worst special teams performance iv ever seen in a single game. (ECU) iv never seen a kicker miss so many chip shots in my life.

                  From arkansas perspective-
Ryan Mallett really disapointed me tonight. Yes, he has an unbelievable arm, but his mechanics are horrible. Many times his foot work reminded me of jay cutler. Throws alot off balance. Alot of His Medium throws were overthrown and off target. One thing i was suprised by was his mobility for beidng 6'7. However i would be very suprised if he enters the nfl draft this year he is way too raw and clearly not ready for the nfl game. if he does indeed enter i do not want him here in a broncos uniform. Very disapointed

Dwayne Harris is a Freakin Stud

Ryan Mallet showed he needs to stay in school. He looked awful against a really bad team with plenty of prep time beforehand.

In all honesty, Jimmy Clausen is the only QB that should be a first round pick this year to me.

Bradford is too much of a gamble from a gimmick offense to take in the first. Don't be surprised if Clausen and Tebow (JAX BS) are the only 1st Round QB taken in the draft this year.

I agree on Mallett. He should stay. He probably will after that Bowl game. If he comes out, his sheer talent will still get him drafted in the 1st, and I still believe in the Top 10. He has it all, he just needs to finetune it. An NFL team that could draft him and sit him for a year or two like Aaron Rodgers would get a future franchise QB. Playing him right away might destroy his psyche.

If he does, next years crop of QB possibly coming out will make anyone and everyone salivate.

                        Jake Locker
                        Andrew Luck
                        Jerrod Johnson
                        Ryan Mallett
                        Jevan Snead
