  • Updated Junior Declare List (and Going Back to School List) Feb. 7 - 11.

This website has recently transitioned to a rule that you can't edit posts that are more than 4 days old. I like it because it keeps people from deleting threads and changing what they said. Accountability is a good thing. However, the drawback is that it's going to create havoc for us in creating informational lists that need updating over a period longer than 4 days. So, we will have to deal with it the best we can. I only see major impacts with relation to the Junior List thread, the Free Agent Signings thread, and the Broncos Draft Prospect Visit Thread.

Anyway, here are the old Junior declare threads linked, there is some decent discussion.

And here is the updated Junior lists which will be accurate from January 7th through January 11th. And then we'll do this all over again.

No clue, he's going to get a 1st Round grade from the Advisory Committee, so it just sort of depends on if Petrino can convince him to stay. He had a subpar bowl game, but he's still a Top 10 pick if he comes out.

The fact that he hasn't declared yet is interesting. Maybe more than any time in recent history, there is a large number of teams that need a starting QB selecting in the Top 10. It's amazing to me that Locker didn't come out. Mallett could use another year in college, sure, but his physical skills dictate a Top 10 pick and a team will just have to be patient with him.

I know he is still raw and I DON'T want the Broncos to draft him, but he could be this years Josh Freeman. It would just put another player dropping to us in the second...and maybe late first or early second if we trade Kuper or Marshall.

I have a feeling if he does declare he is destined for Washington. I don't agree with him coming out yet, but it seems he is burning some bridges behind him atm.

He transfered from Michigan after Rich Rod was hired...Then waited, Bobby sunk his claws in him...Now he's a top 10 pick...Come out!!!!! Better for us, I wouldn't want him but someone before us would...

Here's a bit of a surprise: Jevan Snead is going into the Draft.

Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead has reportedly decided to forego his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

Snead led Ole Miss to a victory in the Cotton Bowl, but he was in danger of losing his starting job for next season. Though his physical tools may earn him an early-round grade, Snead's numbers suggest he's a bust wasting to happen. His accuracy and decision-making have been suspect, and he's never completed even 57 percent of his passes.

Wow that is a big surprise. Even if he has a perfect showing during workouts he'd still only be a late 2nd round pick at the very best.

He's got a lot of proving to do. I'm not sure if he will be able to truly show himself off enough, either. He will have the Combine and a Pro-Day, but him not being able to play in the Senior Bowl, in a game situation, will really hinder his draft stock. He's going to look good throwing without a D rushing against him, but I think the game tape will speak volumes.

Mico McSwain WR 6'1 210 of North Alabama delcared for the draft. He's a transfer from Ole Miss who had some academic problems that lead to his dismissal.

Snead is a shocker, but if he was going to lose his job, he had to do it. Regardless, he's nobody to be excited about. Just another Tarzan/Jane type guy.

                      I'll add him and McSwain.

Jason Worilds (DE/OLB Va. Tech) has declared for the NFL. He's got good size (6'2 - 255), strength, and he would be a great fit to switch to OLB in a 3-4. Consistent motor, but durability might be an issue.

The flood of juniors entering the NFL draft continues this afternoon as Virginia Tech has learned they've lost one of their standout defensive linemen.

A short press release issued by the school just minutes ago announced that defensive end Jason Worilds is leaving Blacksburg after three seasons.

"Jason is a very talented player, but is also a very smart player," Tech head coach Frank Beamer said in a statement. "He has the toughness to be successful after playing through a shoulder injury last year. We wish him a long NFL career. He was great for Virginia Tech and we wish him the best in the NFL."

Worilds was a two-time All-ACC performer who recorded 49 tackles this year, including 11.0 for loss and 4.5 sacks. He also had one forced fumble, one pass break up and a team-leading 32 quarterback hurries.

I agree, he could still be an interesting developmental prospect, but I wouldn't take a risk on him unless he lasts past the 4th round. Which might actually happen.

Houston Nutt is the killer of QB's though. First it was Mitch Mustain now Jevan Snead. Who knows maybe Snead is salvagable.

I still do believe he can be a good QB in this league with proper coaching. McD would most likely get the absolute best out of him, and he was considered a leader of Ole Miss. He can obviously make all the throws with his arm, but his consistent struggles with accuracy is really going to hurt his chances of being drafted by McD. But, if McD can pinpoint a mechanical issue that can directly affect his accuracy, then possibly he will pull the trigger on him due to his high upside. I'm curious to see what sort of buzz he's going to get leading up to the draft.
