  • Complete Offseason (but of course who the h*ll knows!)

    Trades

    Brandon Marshall to Baltimore for 2010 1st and 5th and 2011 2nd

The 2nd from ’11 is comparable compensation of a ’10 3rd. This will also be a performance based contract which will include a conduct clause. If Marshall is suspended then we forfeit the 2nd.

Peyton Hillis to Washington for 2010 4th

SHOCKER---Franchise Elvis Dumerville then send him to New England for their 2x 2010 2nd

New England is in desperate need of an edge rusher. We need someone who can rush and stop the run. This will also help Belicheck show the patriots and there faithful that he intent on another run at the SB NOW.

    Tenders-

Kyle Orton- 1st and 3rd at $3.17 million.

One year deal, if he throws for 3500+ yrds and 20 td’s and we win 10 games, then Ok.
If not well it was a nice experiment.

Sheffler- NONE. Everyone in the league knows he is done. Lets skip the BS of offering him a tender when no one is going to offer a draft pick.

Kuper- 1st rd at $2.01 million.

This does two things. 1) It allows us to see what pans out during free agency. Also if we
Do want to keep him we can structure a longer term contract. 2) If someone does sign him to a longer term contract and we don’t match we get at minimum a 5th. More likely if this ends up being the case we would trade him for a 3rd to the Texans, Redskins or Seahawks.

But in our case the Seahawks, thanks to Gibbs recognizing Kuper as one of if not the best ZBS guard available, offer us a 2011 3rd for Kuper and our 7th. We take it.

    Le Kevin Smith – $927,000

Doubt he makes the team but will be decent camp fodder

    FREE AGENT SIGNINGS

    UFA

    OFFENSE:

Kevin Faulk- RB- 2 yrs- $5 Million. This is the song that never ends. 3 down back. Knows the system. Can play special teams……I am seeing a trend here….hmm

Alge Crumpler -TE- 3 yrs/ $5 Million. Still has the ability to make a decent catch over the middle. Also would pair nicely with Graham in double TE sets. This allows us to have flexibility if Quinn does not progress.

Eugene Amano-LG-4 yrs/ $11 Million. Instant upgrade to left side. Can slide to the right if we pick up someone in the draft or in next years FA crop.

Mike Gandy- T- 3 yrs/ $7 million. To old for a 5 yr deal as a starter, also showed last year that he is not a premier LT. Would make an awesome backup. Can fill in at RT if Harris is still hurt

Damien Cook- G- 1 yr/ $1.3 Million. Backup material. Depth.

Dennis Norman- C- 2 yrs/$3.2 Million. Played well in limited time. Will make a good intermediate backup. Can be camp fodder of Seth Olson pans out.

    DEFENSE:

Richard Seymour- DE- 3 yrs/ $20 Million. Instant credibility on the Dline. We have all seen what he can do. And I truly believe he has ZERO desire to play for that mess in Oakland.

Casey Hampton- NT- 3yrs/ $16 Million. Can hold the starters spot for the next year of two. This will allow Baker to have time to come into his own and take over in year three
Or give us time to find a young replacement

Derrick Burgess OLB- 3yrs/ $13 Million. Rotate with Ayers at the OLB until Ayers takes over or with Haggen if we want twin edge rushers. Also feels comfortable to put his hand on the ground. Would see his sack numbers go up in our attacking zone blitz scheme compared to New Englands. Helps replace the pass rush loss of Doom.

Benny Sapp CB- 2 yrs/ $7.2 Million. Can come in and play the nickel. Will push Alphonso Smith. If Smith pans out will make a good Dime.

      DRAFT:

      So we have

#1 (11)- Joe Haden CB- Bailey/Revis/Samual. Take your pick. He has been compared to all. I would have gone McClain but for some reason I just don’t see McDaniels seeing McClain as a need. We need someone to step in for Champ in a year or two. And he happens to be BPA.

#1 (27- Baltimore) Mike Iupati G- MAULER. I truly believe this man is the next Steve Hutchinson. Can pull/ trap better then most starting guards currently playing in the NFL.Can instantly be a starter opposite Amano. This will lock down our oline for the next 4 years along with my other picks. I really wanted Dan Williams at this spot, but with the steelers losing Hampton, they look to be snatching him up.

#2 (44- New England) Jared Odrick- DE- HUGE FRAME. 3 tech. With a little training on his technique/Stance will be able to command more double teams and become a Seymour like 5 tech. Penetrator. Forces teams to be accountable for him.
Constantly on the go. Chaos creater.

#2 (45) ***TRADE*** TO ARIZONA FOR ANQUAN BOLDIN AND ARIZONA’S 4TH RD PICK

Has a chip on his shoulder. Wants to show the world that he is a #1 without Fitz’s Shadow looming. Has shown at AZ that he can play all three positions at WR. Will make the tough catch over the middle. Still has the break away speed to turn the long play. Has has some durability isssues, but has averaged 13 games a season. With AZ having a plethora of receivers and with zero takers for him last year they are happy to move on with a 2nd rounder

#2 (47- New England) Damien Williams WR- Can make plays. Will be a perfect compliment to our system and Boldin. Every scout raves on his route running and from the games I watched they are right. Can make WHOA play.

.#3 (80) J.D. Walton-C- If he had followed up last years campaign with a similer one this year , he would have gone in either the late 1st or early 2nd. Oh well! Our Gain.

#4 (100- Washington) Micah Johnson- ILB- Prototypical ILB size and strength . Bad 40 times expected. Is a 2 down LB. Great run stopper but will be pulled in nickel situations.
Would have gone a round or two earlier until the injury to his knee.

#4 (111) Torrell Troup- NT- 314lbs and plenty of frame for another 15lbs.
Knows how to command multiple blockers. Still very athletic. I believe he will become 10x’s the pro than FAT CODY. Comes from mediocre competition, which is why he falls this far. With the lack of NT prospects he might shoot up after the East/West game and a decent combine.

#4 (124- Arizona) John Skelton QB. YES flame away. But I am also on the bandwagon. FOR NOW. I want to see how he does at the East-West game and how his release is at the combine. But if he can show the scouts that going to Fordham is not a crutch then this kid just might be the real deal.

#5 (153- Baltimore) Marcus Easley WR- Big kid 6’2”, but what really surprises is that he is FAST at his size. 4.39 at his last pro-day. Could add another 5 lbs on his frame and still be a burner. Comes from a small school which is why he slides. Has projected as 4-5th rounder, so he might go earlier. But I am hoping that with the glut of big WR.

#6 (174) ZOLTAN P- Just so I can see him and Janikowski fight at the 50 yd line!

Peppers is unlike them though, VERY high priced, with no proof that he can transition to the 3-4

Man and I thought my mocks had alot going on!!!

                  1. I like all of the players you drafted. Good job identifying talent.

                  2. Kuper is a NFL STARTING GUARD who is young and 1 year away from being the only Guard not to give up a Sack in 08. He is not going anywhere.

                  3. I don't think we will cut Ryan McBean and Marcus Thomas - they are cheap and rotational players.

                  4. I like Kevin Fauld and Amano but Crumpler is old as dirt.

                  5. So we are getting Derrick Burgess who did nothing for New England. Pass!!!!

Overall I think with teams having 2 - Franchise Tags that players like Seymour and Mankins are going to be close to impossible to get.

Great job. Very thorough and well presented. But I also believe Seymour is gonna be nearly impossible to get. Here's to hoping though :salute!:

My responses to the italicized lines

                      1. YOu dont have to preach to me about Kuper's ability. I am from AK. I watched the kid play. I've followed him since highschool and was estatic to see him get drafted by the Broncos and play at such a high level. I also am dreading what could happen by swapping out 3/5ths of our Oline at the same time. But lets bite the bullet.

If you noticed I said Kuper is one of the best if not the best ZBS Guards on the NFL. There is the key. ZBS. CAN he play PBS effectively? Yes. Bun can he be a possible pro-bowler in it like he could in a pure ZBS? Highly doubtful.
I dont want to lose Kuper. But I want the Broncos to play for a Super BOwl more. And if we are making the change to the PBS, then lets do it. No *****footing around.

                      2. Where does McBean or Thomas get there playing time? In my mock offseason they would be camp fodder at the most. Ok. Then they are still gone.

                      3. Alge Crumpler is 33! Signing him for a couple of years is not going to hurt us. In fact based on how McD uses TE, his experiance helps us! We use them to A) BLOCK and B) make that critical 3rd down catch. He can do both. And hes cheap.

                      4. Did you see where I said Burgess's numbers rebound because of the scheme we use. It allows us to use his natural abilities.

Look I like Doom. He is exciting. But did you know that even with his league leading 17 sacks we barely cracked the top 10 in team sacks. OH and we allso got gashed in the run game any time they ran his way. Yes our DE had something to do with this, but I want a TEAM that can make sacks because we can also stop the run. Whats the point of having this sack artist if we get creamed on 1st and 2nd down with run plays, which constantly sets up our defense to defend a short 3rd pass/ run, where doom is inefective. That is why his numbers tailed off. We need more than one sack artist. We need a DEFENSE
I need more Oline, please and thank you

I heavily disagree on your assessment of Doom. He had the most sacks of any players on 3rd down in the NFL. For YEARS and YEARS we've been looking for somebody that can pressure the QB, and I would probably kill myself if we said goodbye to Doom. He'll continue to improve and if we can get a better DE on that side we'll be fine. Getting rid of Doom when we have nobody else to get pressure would be suicide.

I agree...Give us a "Good" DE and Doom gets the record in sacks... You should never be able to Double the OLB...

But they could knowing they could block Mcbean with 1...
