I would rather the Broncos try to get Wilfork or Hampton, then cut Fields, and let Baker develop behind one of the top nose tackles in the league. Reason being, I would like the Broncos to be as good as possible going into next season.
Yes but did you see his college stats am telling you the kid has game and under Nunnely i truly believe he will be one of the best in the league at NT, lets look at some stats most rookie NT dont normally start there first year or play at all. Look at Raji this year what was he like the 9th overall pick and he has 1 start, Wilfork in his rookie year started a total of 6 games but was used rather sparingly. Jamal Williams didnt start a game his first year. Everyone does this because it takes time to develop NT they have to be physically and mentally ready to take on multipule blocks each play aswell as realise they are not going to get much glory because a NT does not do that.

Somebody is going to get them, why not us? Besides, I said a front line of Wilfork/Hampton, Seymour/Jolly and a draft pick like Jared Odrick would be fine.

2 years down the road a combo of a more experienced Ryan McBean, Chris Baker, and Arthur Jones could actually be a very good starting line.
Why should we wait 2 years? Why not try to put together a top-flight D-Line now?

Okay, so jettison Fields and let Baker develop behind a pro-bowl NT like Wilfork or Hampton. Why are so many people around here averse to blue-chip starting linemen?

        Let's see:

Minnesota -- Steve Hutchinson (pro-bowl guard), Jared Allen (pro-bowl free agent), Bryant McKinnie (1st-round pick)...

Green Bay -- Ryan Pickett (top free agent from St. Louis, which picked him in the first round), B.J. Raji (top-ten pick)...

San Diego -- Luis Castillo (first-round pick), Jamal Lewis (2nd-round pick in supplemental draft), Igor Olshansky (35th pick in the draft)...

Dallas -- Marcus Spears (1st-round pick), Igor Olshansky (top free agent and #35 pick)...

New England -- Vince Wilfork (1st-round pick), Richard Seymour (top-10 pick)...

Baltimore -- Haloti Ngata (1st-round pick), Trevor Pryce (top free agent), Matt Birk (pro-bowl free agent)...

Indianapolis -- Dwight Freeney (1st-round pick)...

        ...Who have we got:

Kenny Peterson, 3rd-round pick, acquired as a free agent after he was cut by the Packers.

Ryan McBean, 4th-round pick, acquired as a free agent after he was cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Ronald Fields, 5th-round pick, acquired after three very undistinguished years with the 49ers.

LeKevin Smith, 6th-round pick, career backup for New England.

Vonnie Holliday, 1st-round pick and pro-bowler during the 1990s, released from his last two teams.

Chris Baker, undrafted player out of lower-division Hampton.

It's this kind of attitude toward linemen that perpetuates the Broncos mediocrity.

I like what you have done with this take on the offseason. This is what i hope happens.

          FA
          Seymour DL
          Franklin NT
          Mankins OG
          Hobbs CB
          Kelley Washington WR

          Release
          Simms
          Law
          Petterson
          Jordan
          Wiegman
          hamilton
          le kevin Smith

          Trades
BMarsh to Balt for 1st and 4th
          sheff to AZ for 3rd
          Kuper to wash for 2nd
          hillis to wash fro 5th

          Draft
          1 Mcclain ILB
          1 Iupati OG
          2 Pouncey C
          2 arthur jones DL
          3 toby gerhart RB
          4 Vince Oghobasse
          5 demaryius thomas WR
          6 Zac Robinson QB
          7 Myron Lewis CB
I didnt put all of the draft picks in there because !! is way to many rookies so i decided to leave our extra 3 and 4 off because of a possible trade up scenerio. feel free to yell and call me crazy but i believe some of these picks have merit.

            LOL

What the heck does their current salary have anything to do with it?

You might as well also list what car they are driving too for all the use that information has

              Players like

Eugene Amano - Guard - Tennesee - would be nice addition

Johnny Jolly - DE - Green Bay

And then also draft a player in the draft.

Mike Iupati / Maurkice Pouncey / Vladimir Duccasse

Dan Williams / Jared Odrick / Terrance Cody

McDaniels has proven that he loves VETERAN PLAYERS - So look for him to bring in atleast 2 Quality Lineman this year
              I like that idea.

NT-Baker-An absolute steal in UDFA and would be an upgrade at NT against the run.
DE-McBean-If we don't get a DE in FA or the Draft.
DE-Holliday-Best pass rusher on the DL and should have been starter last if he was there through TC.

Also I am all for Baker at DE and drafting a NT later but we have bigger needs.

                1. Interior OL

                2. WR to replace Marshall if he leaves.

                3. Youth in the Secondary.

                4. Pass rusher opposite DOOM

                5. LB to take Davis' spot in a year or two, not as big of a need as some think our LB corps was pretty good.

                6. NT we can live with Fields at least one more year if not Baker is waiting for his shot.

Marcus Thomas isn't a good player and you think we'll get a third?

A pro-bowl NT in Shaun Rodgers only got a 2nd.
