This guy doesn't know what he's talking about, McCoy's got some question marks for sure, but to say he is a terrible prospect is ridiculous.

Lukic just doesn't like the guy. He made this thread (http://forums.denverbroncos.com/show...ght=Colt+McCoy) which I find hilarious considering he wants (wanted?) us to draft Zac Robinson.
I'll start off as to why I wanted Zac:

    1. He's a Colorado boy.
    2. It would be in the 6th or 7th round.
    3. He has the same potential as McCoy does, just he doesn't have the chance to showcase it through a lack of weapons and an offense structured for it.

To feel McCoy has a good chance to succeed in the NFL, you must either buy into Kiper and McShay's garbage, or be a Longhorn homer.

Let's break him down into pros and cons.

    Pro:
    He's a good leader
    He's had success
    Has high character
    Has amazing stats
    A smart player
    Mobile
    Quick Release

    Cons:
The spread offense makes him look much better than he actually is, and his flaws are substantially masked by the system.
The reason for his success is the talent around him and the system.
His stats are a bi-product of the system.
His mobility has absolutely no translation to the NFL, most his runs are D reads and scripted.
    Weak arm.
    His footwork isn't very good.
Locks onto his receiver far too often.
Low ceiling in terms of progression.

    Need I say more?

Yeah, it must really suck throwing to Brandon Pettigrew and Dez Bryant for the majority of your college career

Lol not a fan of Kiper or McShay, but last time I checked they said he was over rated and a 3rd or 4th round pick. Also I am a CU fan, and I really came to respect Colt as I followed his career in the Big 12

The spread offense makes him look much better than he actually is, and his flaws are substantially masked by the system. We run a spread, his skill set is exactly what we look for in QB's...if he was 2 inches taller McCoy to Denver would almost be a lock.
The reason for his success is the talent around him and the system. Not as much talent as you think. A few good lineman and a good runningback early in his career, but the last two years Texas' offense was basically all Colt McCoy
His stats are a bi-product of the system.
His mobility has absolutely no translation to the NFL, most his runs are D reads and scripted.I'm not saying he is Mike Vick, but his mobility would help in terms of avoiding sacks (not necessarily running for big gains).
Weak arm.Doesn't have a cannon, but he has consistently made NFL throws during his career. He also has a ridiculously high completion percentage of passes over forty yards.
His footwork isn't very good. Can be coached
Locks onto his receiver far too often. Can be coached (unless your name is Jay)
Low ceiling in terms of progression.Opinion not fact

I think Colt McCoy can be successful in the NFL, but only if he is drafted by the right team. We run a spread offense, and having Orton would allow him to sit for a year or two. Denver would be an ideal landing place for Colt, you can see the rest of my responses in Bold.

Nice work and I always give a CP to guys that do that much work for a post.

However, Wash will not give a pick for Scheffler, they have Cooley and now Fred Davis has emerged.

Ne will not trade up IMO, just doesn't fit the pattern of their draft. If you have a senerio as to why they would, ie targetting a player please include that so we can see your reasoning.

        Otherwise good work.

I like the Dan Williams pick. We should be seeing more mocks of us taking him.

We gotta grab a CB sooner, mostly due to oldness of Goodman/Bailey. If one of them gets injured, which is pretty likely, real scary....

The problem is, I see him too similar to Alex Smith. Smith had everything McCoy had yet better, with lesser talent.

Smith is a more talented player, with slightly (and I mean very slighty) inferior intagibles.

I agree that they are similar players, but Smith actually looks like a half decent QB not that SF has switched to a spread offense. For McCoy to have success in the NFL he has to land on one of the few teams that run a spread offense. I just think Denver would be a good fit for him. I'd take him in the 2nd (only if we end up with an extra 2nd round pick though) or the 3rd if he slips.
