I think he has a couple of good years left and I wouldn't mind having him if the price is right, but why is it that everytime a player gets released we start a thread about should we get him.

Because Joey Porter is an excellent player. And Bio just wants to know what you guys think.

I say go for it and let our Boy Ayers learn from a VET.

I don't know. I think Ayers needs time on the field to season and get his maturing over with. If we brought in Porter and continued to only use Ayers as a rotational player I think it would keep him from reaching his full potential as quickly as might be the case otherwise.

"IF" he gets the playing time, and "DOESN'T" mature and continue to grow in his role, then we will at least know what we have. I'd rather know, than to sit and wonder if he will eventually be stellar at his position. Either way Porter is an aging player, and while he could be immensely valuable as a mentor for someone like Ayers, he isn't a long term answer.

I can see both sides of the picture but I think I'd just prefer to see Ayers with more time on the field in his sophomore season.

If Porter is brought in Marshall will be gone, the two can't coexist. Porter doesn't fit what we usually go after but I'am down to sign the CSU grad.

Um if you want a veteran for Ayers sign Adalius Thomas. Joey Porter is definitely no role model.

True, there seemed to be a lot of trash talking when we played Miami, but who knows, if Porter was a Bronco that might change.

No. we already have a great pass rushing LB in Dumervil, Porter is old, he has an attitude problem, etc. i wouldnt mind getting Antonio Pierce tho

according the adam schefter, the dolphins have 4.2m in salary cap space...cutting porter accelerates his bonus money to 4.8 this year....so the dolphins can;t do it

though i'm not sure when the uncapped part of the upcoming season goes into effect

porter has not been released....the dolphins tried to but his accelerated bonus puts them over the cap...so he's still with the team.
