  • Westbrook ‘not sure’ if he’ll be back with Eagles

Brian Westbrook wants to play football in 2010. Whether that happens with the Philadelphia Eagles, he isn’t quite sure.

In a recent interview with Dan Rather of HDNet’s Dan Rather Reports, Westbrook made it clear it’s his goal to return next season after suffering two concussions last season. Westbrook is under contract with the Eagles, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be back.

“I’m not sure. That’s one of those things that really is up to them,” Westbrook told Rather. “I’m under contract another year, and I would love to be in Philadelphia. There’s no other team that I would love to play for more than the Philadelphia Eagles. But it’s a situation where in the NFL, younger, cheaper is better for teams. It’s one of those things. It’s part of the business. I experienced it when I was younger, and I experience a different aspect now. You have to try and find out, for the team, what’s better for them.”

According to Philly.com, Westbrook is due $7.25 million next season. They’ve also posted Rathers’ interview with Westbrook, which never aired.

Westbrook, who will turn 31 early next season, added he is “100 percent sure” he won’t decide to hang it up before he begins his offseason training regimen. He also spoke at length earlier this week about his concussions, admitting during a radio interview he rushed back too soon.
Would be an awsome 3rd down back to team with Buck and Moreno, also adds an additional recieveing threat. What do you think of A Westbrook, Buckhalter reunion.

Nah, I dont see it, too much wear and tear for him to be effective. He's had a real good career though.

I like Buck as our 3rd down back right now, he's fast and already has one year in the offense.

That would be a pretty crowded backfield. Plus, Westbrook would command alot of money.

I rather draft CAL RB Jahvid Best in R2.

        Moreno / Best / Hillis

That would be a very formidable backfield!

Why do we need EVERY FA potentially on the market? they need to do right by Westy and let him stay there in Philly

Money wise not really considering he is coming off one of his worst seasons plus all of the concussions he suffered last season. With that being said I would pass on him.

Fixed it for you. No way I ever see Hillis do anything positive in a Broncos uniform ever again.

Nah. I think Knowshon and Buck will be good for another year.

just curious where anyone said we NEEDED any free agents in this thread?

but this is the free agency forum...

                    Keeping on track.

Westbrook is over the hill and one blow to the head away from retirment or major medical issues. He needs to do the smart thing and retire as an eagle and protect his future after football.

He's still Tim Tebow... and you're NOT!
But Peyton Manning will win a Super Bowl.

Wow, the AFC West is becoming the East... (KC loading up on ex-Patriots)

Broncos loading up on Eagles players? Dawkins, Buckhalter... now trying to get McNabb and Westrook?

                      I know it's speculation, but it's interesting...
Rivers is deciding to play bad, just to see how it feels.

where are we trying to get westbrook?

it was posted that westbrook is unsure, and the OP asked what people think of POSSIBLY grabbing him.

There was absolutly no reference to any contact made with Philly by the Broncos reguarding westbrook. Its not speculation at all.

I see two problems with your logic. (1) We drafted a RB in the 1st Round last year and you want us to draft a RB in the 2nd Round this year. (2) For some reason you mentioned Hillis.

I don't think we should make a move for Westbrook. Definitely not. First of all, we invested a lot in Moreno (who must be given time to develop) and I can't imagine anyone was unhappy with Buckhalter's supplementary production. Which means I don't think RB is a position of need and thus not a place we should want to invest a substantial FA contract.

I believe what I stated was speculation. I doubt the Broncos are going after Westbrook, it's just interesting to think of the possibility that he and McNabb could go there alongside the already present Dawkins and Buckhalter.

since we are going to play this game.

                              Speculation:

A conclusion, opinion, or theory reached by conjecture.

what possible conjecture was there in the thread? Not one time did anyone say we are even looking at Westbrook. Nor was a link provided. Then you state yourself that you doubt the Broncos are going after him. You shot your own argument in the foot.

If its your opinion we are going after Westbrook then its not speculation its opinion.

since you are so into definitions your post is more...

                              opinion:

A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof

Not speculation. Speculation implies some shred of eveidence, even bad evidence, of which you had none.

The one thing we seem to agree is that the Broncos will in now way pursue westbrook.

                              Cheers!
